Here is a quick look at the cockpit of a Falcon 900. While I have never flown the Falcon line of Aircraft, I certainly appreciate the beauty and quality of them!

Hey, that‘s a cool plane, for sure! BTW: there is a joke here in Brazil around “the battle Gulfstream vs. Falcon”: Pilots say that a Falcon Jet is a Mirage Fighter’s downgrade while The Gulfs are G1 upgrades.... sorry if I bother someone, It’s not my intention! . I certainly would love to fly any model of these superb brands, their sales and market share are joking-free as they are real numbers! Thanks, Shawn! 😉👍🇧🇷

Looks like a neat cockpit. Easy to read what each engine is doing especially on spool up. Leading edge slats. That’s almost up there with the big airlines. Looks like the little sister to the DC-10. Who knows what the future holds for the corporate pilot. Onward and upwards Shaun. I see a great future for ya

Oui! Tres cool. Thank you for the look/see. It's an older model? Falcons are so distinctive: leading-edge slats, anhedral horizontal stabilizers, multi-paneled windshields and all round big-airplane look. Interested in the operational advantages/disadvantages that may come with leading-edge devices like these. That is, if slats were that advantageous, wouldn't all corporate aircraft have them? Thanks again, Shaun.
@CorporatePilotLife

This one is a bit older, but I'm not sure the year. As for the slats, they are typically advantageous, but some manufacturers prefer to save the weight

As a Falcon 900 pilot i can correct you on a couple of things the 900B, which you show is around the 46000lbs the ex model is around 49000lbs. The jumpseat is not always the same some have a stowaway seat in the floor which sucks because you have to step over it.

Thanks Shaun, is that leading flap sometimes called a Fowler flap? I seem to have heard or seen that somewhere. Love the Falcon.
@alexanderkamerbeek9693
@alexanderkamerbeek9693 4 года назад
A fowler flap is a trailing edge flap which not only tilts but also increases wing surface by sliding backwards. The slats are in this case slotted slats.
@Big.Ron1
@Big.Ron1 4 года назад
And to continue from Alexander, the leading edge device is called a slat. The Falcon has both inboard and outboard slats that move independently from each other depending on setting and flight conditions. And yes, pilots love the way falcons fly. Much like the Dassault fighters I'm told by the factory pilots. This is a very early model but the new Falcons put most airline aircraft to shame with the avionics and technology on board. Fast, nimble, and comfortable with steep approach and shortfield capability. Plus having the third engine allows more direct routing on trans oceanic flights. All twin engine aircraft have certain routes and waypoints they must fly but 3 and 4 engine aircraft can fly more or less direct if they want saving time and fuel compared to twins. They are really cool aircraft.

Jimmy Buffett (at one time at least) had three Falcons with parrot feather decals up the vertical stablizers. I guy I went to flight school with back in 2000 saw two of them fly into MQJ when Buffett and his band were playing at Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center (it was called Deer Creek Music Center in those days). Trivia: Part of this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BPCjC543llU.html starting around the 2:20 mark on (when Alan Jackson went on stage to sing with Jimmy Buffett) was taped at Ruoff just north, northeast of Indy.

Hi Shaun. I was just looking at the aircraft on Alerion's web page. I have a question about type ratings. Do you have to qualify for a type rating on each indidual model, such as G IV vs G 200, and Hawker 900xp vs 800xp? Or would a rating cover all models of comparable size, power and handling?
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 4 года назад
My Hawker type covers the 900XP and 800XP, and my Gulfstream type covers the G-IV. Any of the other aircraft I would have to get a new type rating for.

The white papers are covering the tail number stickers so I don't have to blur them in editing...company requirement. The 3 engines don't really get you more speed, just more efficiency. I hope to fly the Falcon line someday, but no plans to just yet. If I do, then I will have to get a new type rating. Takes about 3 weeks in a simulator.

Lots of cosmetic wear & tear in the cockpit of these planes. Whats the deal on maintaining that?
@CorporatePilotLife
@CorporatePilotLife 4 года назад
Unfortunately, if it's just cosmetic stuff, it doesn't get high priority. We certainly address those things when we can, but it doesn't make sense to down the plane and sacrifice charter revenue to do that. Usually when the plane gets major maintenance, they will fix some of those minor items as well.
