To state the obvious, Supply and Demand exists too on top of the volatility.Let's say we have 100 people buying and selling a stock.If one day, 90 people decide to hold. Only 10 people are actively trading.When new demand comes in, because so many shares are being held long term. It will push the price up because there's no shares. So if you see a trending stock, like Nvidia. Hold it. New Buyers will push the price up because they can't find sellers. So they take the market price.
