Push and My Heart were great bangers, but hot dang, Separate Shadow was the highlight for me. I don't think I would've asked for a classic rock EDM remake, but that one got me so hyped. If that were actually played at a dance party, I'd go crazy. Good stuff, TCMusic!

I feel like for a long while the mashup scene sorta needed to thrive on well known music so that it could maintain attention as an art form, just easier to grab the casual audience with top 40s and meme songs, but we’ve reached a sort of renaissance of mashup content where the artists don’t have to care about that, and can simply make the art they want to. I think the real tipping point was probably Jazz, but I’m here for it regardless because it’s all so unique and fun to listen to no matter who’s doing it

It's so weird to think about how when I was getting started, I hadn't met TC or heard any of his work. out of all the friends I've made in the Mashpit, he's been the one I was never "fan first, friend later". and yet now here we are, almost a year in, and his style is an undeniable influence on what i have coming down the pipeline. he's one of the best of us, man, plain and simple. seeing a project like this pulled off so excellently is gratifying to me as well, as someone who has been wanting to do smth like this for longer than i could even guess. bro really is a great masher and a great friend. love ya tyler. can't wait for *our* project.

fun little side fact about the name. while the elements in the numbers around it are all natural. technetium is an exclusively manmade element. as its half life is too low for it to be found in nature...theres an allegory in there somewhere linking it to mashups. but i cant figure it out.

Such a good mix. It really emphasizes a point an old youtuber made back in like 2006 with his pop mashups: "There are parts of a song that are like the filling in a lollipop, or the jelly on one of those cookies, the best part of the treat you want to get at. Mashups are all filling." (Paraphrasing, not his exact words, but very close) Good mashups are imo just celebrations of music, and when they flow nicely into one another, it feels like a colab where everyone is just having fun with no worries on their mind. All treats are great on their own, but put together like this, they are just an explosion of color/flavor/feelings whatever you like. xD Absolutely true, when they are just in their zone, that's when their best work comes out.

Hey Alec, how often do you get copyright claims on mashups? I'm wondering if because their are multiple copyrights at the same time, a label can't even claim because they don't own all the tracks used? I had a similar issue with one of my own over a decade ago back when RU-vid would mute the whole video and got out of it because I had a song they didn't own elsewhere in the video. Thankfully we are out of the days where the only content that can be uploaded are bleep bloops.
