Cummins strongly believes that high quality education leads to strong social and economic outcomes and prepares today’s students to become the productive workforce of tomorrow.
Launched in 2012, Technical Education for Communities (TEC) is a global initiative by Cummins designed to empower communities by imparting vocational educational training and skill development. With four TEC projects across India, namely at Phaltan, Jamshedpur, Kolhapur and Dewas, Cummins strives to enhance the quality of vocational training in the country. It nurtures young and diversely talented students, improves their employability, and creates a talent pool of ready-to-perform manpower for the industries.
In Kolhapur, we have partnered with SMAK (Shiroli Manufacturers’ Association, Kolhapur) to upskill students with TEC framework which helps them improve their job prospects.
With TEC, Cummins advocates equitable educational systems and high-quality learning environments for those who have historically been denied access to opportunity. The initiative supports over 100 students annually to learn employable skills. This translates to over 70% of students securing jobs, adding considerable value to local industries and communities. We also provide equipment, training, and other support to help SMAK ITI become self-sustainable.
