+declan ocallaghan Thanks for asking, the basic premise is that we want to structure our work processes to minimize the amount of time our team members spend waiting on equipment or machinery to continue doing their job. In the video example, the team member originally had to watch each machine run and take notes on the readings every few minutes. This meant only one product at a time could be evaluated. With the application of Jidoka, a computer system was installed to monitor multiple machines at the same time. This meant the operator was now free to do other tasks (more efficient use of time/increasing throughput) and come back when the machines were done instead of waiting on them.
