Well Explained. I agree the TPM role appears to be an amalgamation of a Tech Lead and/or Engineering Manager role PLUS hooks into the Business Development/Marketing realm.

I have been trying to get help from many ppl but no one seems to reply. I'm currently working as a senior java tech lead with a package of 24lpa and with an experience of 11 years. So should I continue in the same stream or switch to product management role? If I continue in the same stream my next designation would be software development manager(or Engineering manager), would this role be better for me or a role of product manager, at least in terms of salary? Could you please advise?

Salary wise TPM and Software Dev manager will be close. You have to look at what you like to do. Do you want to stare at code all day or only sometimes while the rest of the time researching new tech and innovate the use of them to provide business value? Not that you can't provide business value as a dev manager but that's not their primary responsibility, just to make sure the team delivers the tech specs.

Great question Abhi- Your earning potential will be higher with Product Management. This seems like a pretty major decision you’re getting ready to make.
