@@kayok07 the CR920 certainly has issues as well. Mine couldn't make it past 1 magazine without going back for service. I think most people know at this point that the 365 line is the fastest selling subcompact pistol series right now
A big selling point in the cr920's favor vs the hellcat for me is the cr920 is usa made while the hellcat is made in Croatia. Nothing against the Croats but I'd rather buy American made.
CR920 with a threaded barrel plus mini-comp, and an option for an extended baseplate taking capacity to 15+1 would be right at Glock 48 dimensions & easily achievable direct from the CR920 platform. I have 2 (CR920’s) & would jump at those options on one.
My wife EDC’s that same model S&W Shield Plus and doesn’t struggle at all to rack the slide with a full magazine. Maybe due to “break in”. The port is the way to go, so much easier for follow up shots and the trigger is great! The fiber optic sights are super easy to pick up too. I’m giving serious thought to getting one for myself. If the CR seems a little to small. I’d have to shoot it to know for sure though.
I got my wife the 4" Shield Plus Performance Center w/ ports. She loves shooting it. It is actually her favorite striker fired polymer pistol to shoot. But she ultimately traded it in for a Walther PDP-F. She just couldn't manipulate anything involving the slide. It was just way too rigid for her. Even I thought it was a bit stiff.
Best comparison is a 43X I don’t care what Trevor says. I own a 43x and the CR920. Once you put in the 13 rd magazine your at 43x size exactly! Period. The 43x takes Glock mags and shield arms 15rd magazines. They are the same footprint at this point. Plus the 43x doesn’t suffer from all the failures to feed. I have the new 2.0 barrel still fails to feed all the time. Dropped in a 43x recoil spring in the cr920 and no more failure to feed issues. They need to take there gun back across 8 mile and fix this gun.
I was sold on the DR version until I tried to shoot it and got stovepiped every third shot or so. Probably my grip, but never had this issue with the 365XL so was suprised and disappointed. Will have to get some free time to try it again trying different gripping techniques. What I'd love to see is a Shadow Systems AR gun. I find holding an 8" AR much more comfortable than a pistol. (obviously not for concealed carry here in the desert. 😊 )
The P365 is a must have in any micro compact comparison. And that's coming from a guy that carries a hellcat pro. I am looking forward to finding a cr to see how it feels in hand though.
I’ve got a CR920 a Hellcat Pro and P365x love them all. I may shoot the hellcat a bit better because the trigger feels the smoothest and the Irons are fantastic…. But I think I carry the CR920 more often 🤷🏻♂️
I love my Hellcat Pro but ended up changing the trigger. Do you not care for the trigger on the CR920? Looking at picking one up. How does it handle shooting, compared to the Pro? Just thinking that a couple of the upgrades I did and want to do wouldn't be needed with the cr920...just not sure.
@@stlwolf71 nothing wrong with CR night money trigger. I’d say it’s a bit better than a standard Glock trigger but not by much. I ended up selling the hellcat pro and picked up to 365X macro. Still care of the CR 920 the most. I should really well with all of them. I don’t think you’ll be sorry if you picked one up.
My current EDC is a Hellcat. I love how my CR920 shoots, but it won't earn EDC status until we resolve the occasional yet persistent first-round feed failure problem for which it's already been back to Shadow once for warranty service...and that was after they sent me a replacement barrel which failed to fix the problem. Shadow's tech support team has been reasonably diligent, however they currently seem completely overwhelmed. I've made multiple attempts to contact them via both email and phone over the past 2+ weeks since receiving my CR920 back from warranty service, yet have been unable to get through. I bought the CR920 because I also own an MR920 Elite which is an absolutely incredible firearm; I simply can't praise it enough. The CR920 has not been as praiseworthy, however, as mine also had a trigger problem which Shadow successfully resolved via warranty service. The first-round feed failure is less frequent after that warranty service, yet still occurs once every hundred rounds or so even with high-quality ammo like Hornady Critical Defense. By contrast I cannot recall even a single malfunction of any kind with my Hellcat, regardless of ammo. So my experience indicates something like a Hellcat or SIG P365 may be the wiser choice until Shadow works a few remaining bugs out of the CR920.
it would be nice to see a 4 inch version with 15 round mag and full length guide rod unlike the glock 48 that shares the same length guide rod as the 43. Even better is they can manage to make it fit in glock 48 hoster.
1.) we have Different cr920s if you are at 25 yards but i havent had mine long haha still practicing with it 2.) before watching this i would just say the cr920 is top tier in this category, if it had the hellcats trigger nothing would even compete with it.
Love all the SS guns. I really wish y’all would make a comped or ported MR/CR. I’m waiting till you do and it will replace my 365X with a Parker mountain machine comp. That hun kills the CR at the moment.
Have the CR920 and already it's had the spring on the slide lock lever break two times where it attaches and I've had to replace them.I love the gun itself but I'm not gonna keep replacing parts that break.time to sell or trade mine in on something more reliable
I've had my CR920 for about 3months and after the first 3 mags I've had zero issues. My complaint is the almost 1/4 in gap between the slide and the frame.
The only reason I went back from my cr to my hellcat was the stainless mags (for work only). live in florida and do construction work so often times im sweating all over my carry and back up mag. my first carry i had this problem with was my p365 and i didnt pay attention to it but the back up mag was so rusted from daily carry when i was working. so i went to the hellcat cause of the stainless mags so i only needed to worry about the slide and a few other metal parts. learn my lesson buy the cr cause i love my mr920, now i have been rem oiling them daily with a light coat and now rust is creeping its way back onto your mags. Any suggestions? i really want to move to only cr or mr for weapon familiarity. also shout out ot your reliability on the cr it basically got drug through the mud (along with me) and got home and wondered if it would work just the way it was and i am impressed.
yea..... im a DR920 elite owner, i carry a p365x. been wanting to look at a cr920 but to have all those firearms and exclude the sig p365 was meh. with the p365x macro coming out im curious what shadow systems will deliver in the next few years in response. I'll likely still be picking up a cr920 in the near future!
You know, one thing that is kinda weird… I have an MR & CR. The CR seems to be “too thick” for a holster I have from Hiliker, for my MR. Now, I will say that I’m pretty sure Hiliker sent me a G19 holster… even though they said that they made them “brand specific”. Anyway, just something I noticed, that I didn’t think would be the case. I love BOTH my SS, by the way!
I noticed that you didn’t compare it to the Sig P365 Lol. I like the look of the CR but the P365 has been kicking ass every since it came out. CR is my strong #2 but the Sig (even though I really don’t like Sig) P365 is my #1 choice for carry.
CR beats it imo, I have more control with it and i like the grip texture better. I did wonder why they didn't have a sig since it's a top contender. Sig had its issues when it first came out.
SIG 365 had worse failures when it was first sold in market add that failure was after the 320 drop safe failure and now the SIG 322 has issues that's 3 back to back failures for sig
@@rt1326 true but shadow systems has their issues as well when the CR920 was released which I figured since the gun wasn’t built around the Glock mag. Both companies fixed their issues and now have solid guns but for the price, P365 is where it’s at.
@@kayok07 shadow systems didn’t have any failures at first because it technically is a Glock clone. Can’t go wrong if you don’t mess up the formula right? But you see what happened when shadow systems tried to create their own around their own magazine design right? Glocks doesn’t have butt barrels either 😂. They didn’t stick to the formula which is not a bad thing but this is what happens when you try something outside of the box. I will say that they were being some what innovative buy taking a G43 that can hold 10 (which is something Glock should’ve done with their own damn gun) and cloning it but Sig’s stuff is a completely new design in every way. There was nothing like the P365 when it came out so of course they are going to have issues with with the first Gen which is normal. That’s with anything man made. Kinks have to be worked out first.
Has anyone gotten a tier 1 holster that has the spare mag carrier for the cr920? I’m looking at a g43x mos holster for a cr920 but I don’t know if the shadow mags will retain in a holster that is designed for g43 mags. T1c let’s you pick oem glock mags or shield arms mags as the options for the spare mag carrier should the shadow mags retain for either of those options?
I was finally able to get out and break my CR920 in, and there's good and bad that was not apparent from a month of dry-firing. The really good was that in 250 straight rounds I had zero malfunctions whatsoever. Also good is that it shoots less snappy with a pinky dangling than the hellcat does with a full grip. Bad was that despite that big beaver tail, I got some nice slide bite to the point where I had to rub the blood out from under the slide. I've never had slide bite before on any gun. The next bad was my finger got pinched between the tip of the trigger and the trigger guard on each reset and ended up giving me a blister. So not the most comfortable gun to shoot, but reliable yes it seems so. The big green front sight took up a lot of sight picture and made the Dicken's drill pretty tough, but hopefully hot-gluing a red dot on top will improve that.
I also found the Hellcat to be super snappy (though I think the G43 is as well). The comparison I was hoping to see would be vs the P365XL (the regular 365, at 5.8" long, is 1/2" shorter than the CR920 at 6.37", whereas the XL is 6.6"...barrels are 3.1, 3.4, and 3.7 respectively, and with the extended mag, the CR and XL are both 4.8" in height). Both the CR and 365s are soft shooters, and I think the two best of the micro-wonder-9s. I had issues with the first P365 and, later, my first P365XL (bought new ones later which were 100% gtg).
The cr920 is closer in size to the p365xl in my opinion. The cr920 shoots better for me. I have the mr920 and cr920, I have no p320’s, p365’s and only the Glock 19x (it may go) left after selling my other polymer frame guns after starting to carry the mr920. I am barley past the 200 round break in on the cr920 so it hasn’t made it to the carry rotation yet.
I’ve seen on the FB posts several issues… to be expected from a new firearm. Wouldn’t trust this model with my life from what I’ve seen. Have not had issues with my MR920.
No sig comparisons? Wife has a 365x and I have that ported 4” pc shield plus. It’s a little big for south Texas weather so I’d love to try a cr 920 elite
Hi. I just bought a shadow DR920P. I have trouble seeing the green front sight without light behind it. I was wondering if there is a fiber option for this gun. I also have a problem with the mussel brake. Or what it is called that keeps the mussel from rising. If I just barely put any pressure on it the pin falls out. The manual says to make sure that I have the red O ring in place. I have white O-rings with mine and there is no pressure on it. I am going to get a smaller 920 to carry. Great gun. Thank you.
All my springfield hellcat magazines fit into the cr920 you just gotta slide it in against the left side of the frame and it clicks in if not it'll bump the bottom of the slide and I've shot 100's of rounds no problems except for some reason when I shot steel cased through the cr920 it likes to Jam up I think the slide move to fast for the heavy bastard to eject lmao
For me the most unique and important feature of the Shadow Systems guns is the back strap system. Unfortunately the CR920 does not have this nor are the specks available on the grip angle, especially compared to the G43 and P365. On the samples I have looked at the triggers are not as nice as the MR & DR models and the mag release is much stiffer.
Love the fit and finish of my CR920. Love its size and weight. It's a pleasure to carry. But I despise its mushy trigger. Anyone try dropping in a different trigger?
I'm getting a cr as soon as I sell a couple guns I'm gonna just do it I'm getting rid of my ultra carry kimber wares best place to sell used but like new guns ? Pawn or gun stores gun broker ware should I try first ?
Question. What’s your opinion on upgrading the pins on the mr920 to stainless steel pins?? They make red ones to match the red trigger in the war poet. Just curious
Cool stuff, but I have to say the P365 has been such a champ for me, waited a year like anyone should before purchasing something mechanical or electronic(car, gun, etc). Only thing I changed is I switched to the WC XL grip module, but even with the standard module she shot great. I think the CR920 is going to be a nice option, but for me the most interesting offering is the XR920.
Reason why there wasn’t a 43x, with a 15+1? If Shadow comes up with a 15+1 for the CR920, I’ll def buy one. For now I’ll save myself few hundred $ for a 43x that goes bang three more times than the 920. 🤷♂️
Made in USA or Assembled in USA???took a month for a replacement trigger...if made in USA?parts would be available on demand. Not wait a month because they are waiting for shipment???
Went to the range when the CR920 build up and hype was crazy, but couldnt get ANY info on release date and got tired of waiting. Went to the range, shot a handful, and shot the Hellcat better than everything, even full size. Now a proud Hellcat owner and didn't even go back to the range 3 weeks later when the CR was FINALLY released. Tip: Dont say "Coming in Spring" and use the last month.. just tell us when you're releasing stuff.
I never have like the way the 43 feels in my hand to rectangular. Springfield will sell your rights to the government for a pay check. The “new” shield is kinda a let down for me kinda good kinda crap so it’s fine. The ruger “take me to the max” is a rattle trap and looks terrible. Sig 365 is the only other option in my opinion now they also had some absolute terrible problems also wink wink. 365 triggers are dog water tho (total crap) until you have a THOUSAND rounds though your them.
@@rl2862 Agree, but at its size should probably be compared against the Glock 19/MR920 as much as against the other compact and subcompact pistols here. Longer sight radius, heavier slide, bigger grip, and ported barrel all worked in its favor.
@@mmafanatic-tz5or I don't agree. I think each of these handguns are a tradeoff in one respect or another, but I will say that the 3.1 in Shield Plus is significantly larger than the Hellcat, Glock 43 and Shadow Systems CR920. For some people that's not a concern but for others, that's a huge deal. Again, I would expect a bigger handgun to shoot more comfortably than a smaller handgun. And as far as reliability is concerned, I don't think the Glock 43 or Hellcat have any reliability issues (and the CR920's problems have supposedly been resolved with the different barrels). If you want to like the Shield Plus, more power to you, but the 3.1 inch version is still a big gun compared to the others tested here.
Something about the way this guy talks just irks me. It's like he's talking to a 7 year old. He sometimes ends with "k?" as he talks to a camera. It's like he's a dad telling his kids about how their toys work.
$400.00 - $500.00 guns vs a $750.00 CR920 aka Polymer80. Hellcat copied y'all? The Hellcat has been out for two years, what did they copy? 🤣 Where's the made in the USA SIG P365 that everyone copied? 🤣
