I recently purchased an SL-D2 for £20 and it has defeated my brand new SL-100C and my not so brand new SL-150 / RB-250. That might just look like grey plastic it is made of but it is not, it is a special compound created by Technics to give extra dampening against resonance. These turntables were, and still are, very high end stuff :)
I have TECHNICS SL-D3 and mine rubber mat is DUAL 505 series mat. Fit very well. Original leak oil. Cover I used car headlight cleaner. Now it is like new. I have to say that SL-D3 is very good turntable. I hope that cover hinges don't broke some day. Well, then I do them roster free metal.
The AT 3600L cartridge is Not aligned properly for that tonearm. It should be much further back in the headshell to track properly! But your restoration itself looks like a job well done!
What cleaning process do you recommend on cleaning the top plate part where the vinyl rests. I have my dads old technics record player. And that part is kind of dusty/ dirty. I don't want to mess it up cleaning it the wrong way. If you can reply to this it would be a big help, thank you.
