It's very possible/probable that Bundy's first victim was eight-year-old Ann Marie Burr, who disappeared from her Tacoma home in the middle of the night of August 31, 1961. At the time, a 14-year-old Bundy lived a few miles from the Burr household.

Debbie Kent was Blair Kent's big sister, Blair was our Jr. High class president and a good friend at South Davis Jr. High school in 1977. Debbie was supposed to pick Blair and another friend up from a roller skating rink on a Friday night, she never showed up. This had a big impact on our lives as 13 year old kids.

I am sorry. He did traumatized so many people. I believe he should have suffered more than he did. I would have been content if authorities would have cut off the finger he always used to point and to fidget, also a cutting of a testicle, a slashing of the tip of his nose, and ear. He was lucky he wasn't commiting these crimes in a communist country.

He dated an heiress from San Francisco and she broke off the relationship. Then Bundy went into overdrive and began to study hard and was accepted into law school and he contacted the heiress and said how do you like me now? She was impressed to the point that she began sleeping with him again and wanted to marry Bundy. But he dumped her. It was only a game to get revenge. Then he went on the murder spree. He had the world in his palm and threw it all away.
@TahtahmesDiary

What a waste of ones time to do all that for revenge!! Law school is years of hard work, even if he didn't want the girl who had expected more of him, he could have really done something with that! Shows some people have "smarts" but the logic/social/big picture is more muddy for them.

I've studied Bundy for years and other serial killers as well and the Lynda Ann Healy abduction and murder is probably the scariest case I've ever heard about. Ted had been stalking Lynda for a few weeks. He saw her and her friends at Dante's Tavern that night and followed her home. When the lights in Lynda's bedroom went out, he watched and gave her enough time to get into a deep sleep. Then snuck in the basement door, hit her over the head with a tire iron, dressed her in the clothes she was wearing at Dante's, made her bed and carried her out the basement door into his VW beetle. She came too once they were at Taylor Mountain and she thought she was having a nightmare only to realize it was very real.

He even demanded that he be given newspaper and television coverage. He suggested names that he could be called. BTK also took great care in not getting caught so he knew exactly that what he was doing was wrong, but he didn't care. He got off sexually by doing what he did and didn't care about his victims.

It appears strongly to have led to a sense of being smarter than everyone else, even though he wasn't. A form of born narcissism also - perhaps murder is a way of establishing who is greater - him (with the wrong wiring) or "all of you" (the strange people around him who were so alien to he was).

Jack Emerald city sider I’ve never heard anyone say his childhood was abusive, but I believe your account. It lacked stability, honesty & anchoring in certain core areas-which can be traumatic in scope for a child. But his family, like many who determine themselves to be okay, never seems to have sought constructive help to any length of time & since people still think marriage solves problems, no way to know if anything might have made a difference-depending on whether Bundy was sociopathic or psychopathic. Age 3, seems like the latter, though. But did I miss something? This account says that TB didn’t “find out” his mother was not his sister until 15. Yet, when she married, he lived with her as her brother? And thought his stepfather (whose name he never legally changed) was his new brother?
@ahnraemenkhera7451
@ahnraemenkhera7451 3 года назад
Jason Okafor I didn’t suggest locking anyone up. I suggested constructive help including counseling, therapy, monitoring for Adjustment, which the entire family should have had imo. But in the 40s-80s, it would have been entirely possible to have people committed to long-term/permanent psychiatric care.

yes. it prob would've saved many young girls for the simple fact that they would be harder to carry off. but I think the hair thing is bs. not all of his victims had long hair. i think people try to read too much into the ex gf thing. i believe that Ted was simply practical. Yes, he wanted attractive girls/women, but the most important factors would be 1) compliance, and 2) easily subdued. Many killers look for the same traits. No matter how big and strong they might be, they're not interested in a fight. Just a good victim.

Ted 's rage was channeled toward women who resembled the young mother that he secretly despised for her lies and betrayal. She too was in denial. She could not see the effect that the family's shame of Ted's illegitimate birth had had on Ted. Ted was trying to make up for this shame and inadequacy by becoming an educated man (the law), and having the legitimate family he never had (with the woman and her daughter). But to the point of his death, his intellect was incapable of self reflection, and he blamed his criminal behavior on the effects of pornography. He had no insight into himself. I don't think any serial killers do.

When she saw that Ted was starting to take after his grandfather/father as far as sexual violence was concerned she took him away from that negative environment to live with a wealthy cousin in another state.......and in order to keep Ted in the first place she had to go along with her fathers idea to hide the real circumstances of his birth.....you have no idea.

Beyond the unfortunate victims of Bundy, it's the friends, the tax-burden, all the destructive collateral irreversible damage. But naturally, it's the countless members of family. Those who've not the mercy of death from so much loss; but to endure it, as if left on the cross with no chance of ever seeing it end. What could a living person give to such pain; that it might ever be something to live with.

I’ve read some of Ann Rules’ books. She always does very thorough research & tracks down details very well. She has a gift for turning out real page-turners. But she comes to certain conclusions about her nonfictional characters without any logical basis from time to time. She is, nonetheless, an excellent true crime writer.

It's not that completely, a sort of neuropathology. A child can only inherit it's psyche from a father or mother or from both ( Psyche is a Latin word for mind.). Psyche is mostly inherited. But any injury / torture / deprivation / fear / drugs can leave an impact over the psyche. But there are people who can be a born sadist, psychopath or so. But, it's important that people needs to be wise. How others makes us to feel and how we make others to feel leaves an impact. When it comes to insecurities, loneliness, survival instincts, sexual preferences - comes rage, a sense of entitlement, gratification. A human mind is a vulnerable tool that needs to be navigated in the path of wisdom.

@leeleeturn
@leeleeturn 3 года назад
Not clear on that, but he was already looking at violent sexual images as a teenager. So it wasn't the girl who dumped him as some people claim, it started before that. But how and why? You've got me. Don't we wish we knew! Serial sex murder is very rare, statistically speaking. I'm thinking it's a whole series of events and circumstances that unfolded over time. There might be a lot more potential serial killers than actually completely develop, and start murdering.
@leeleeturn
@leeleeturn 3 года назад
One piece of the puzzle would be the extremely violent father and abused depressed mother. That kind of past is enough to cause PTSD and make someone vulnerable to developing addictions. But of course a lot of people have backgrounds like that, and fight addictions their whole lives without turning into serial sex killers.
