Up until the 70s or maybe the 80s most pro athletes did have jobs in the offseason.

It was Titan sports , corp , a llc costs 35.00 to start . Believe me everything is a corperation. That pay-per-view money all went into an escrow account to draw interest before it was broken up and paid out

Good point and likely correct. Also a great way to ensure guys would work hard for months, waiting for the money.

I know the upper card guys got paid very well, even if the math was fuzzier than a wooly mammoth, but the fact the wrestling biz as a whole got away with how they paid and treated the talent is terrible.

it's probably part of the contract to not say publically. at MIN, my guess is quarterly, if not monthly.

He’s given rough estimates. Most people don’t like to talk exact figures they make, that’s across all industries and jobs.

The only financial source for the WWF that exists, are the SummerSlam 1991 payouts, because they were made public during the Warrior lawsuit. For that PPV, Ted was paid 20,000 dollars (For comparison: Warrior, Savage and Hogan got 75,000 each, Hogan got an additional bonus of 15,000, Slaughter got 50,000, the guys in the undercard like Steamboat and von Erich got 5,000 and the wrestlers who weren't on the card but at the event as stand-by got 1,500 dollars)

Sure, you can always quit and go to another territory, where you are underpaid and the treat you like shit. But you can always quit and go to another territory, where you are underpaid and the treat you like shit. But you can always quit and go to another territory, where you are underpaid and the treat you like shit. Doesn't it make more sense to join with all the other wrestlers who are getting underpaid and being treated like shit do demand better and thereby improve things for EVERYONE instead of going it alone and hoping against all odds the promoter made you the star of the show?

You are talking about a union. Sure, many industries have done it. In wrestling, it would require the support of the majority of the top talent, and so far, they haven't been willing to risk their spot to support a union.

Union schmunion! The biggest beneficiaries of the vig forked over by the little guy is the union bosses and the democratic party.

In wrestling they can make a top star out of almost anyone. If you don't like your paycheck and want to band with others to get what you think you deserve, they will make a new star out of the janitor or whoever wants to be top guy. It only takes a hot angle and a push to be the next big thing and most everyone forgets about who was last years star.Honkytonk man held the IC for ever and he was a mid card talent who headlined for years. I'm not knocking him, but if you look how deep the roster was full of legends at that time, you realize the top guy is who the promoter wants to be top guy. Somebody is always willing to take your spot if you want to cause the owner headaches.

Dak has what, won one playoff game for the cowboys? Against a 7-9 team? Don’t matter if he’s the so-called mvp. What has he done in the playoffs? Nothing but choke. Very overrated.
