Without doubt one of the friendliest and down to earth people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting in more than 50 years as a journalist, Ted Lange, aka Isaac the barman from TV’s Love Boat. Also one of the most intelligent. He wrote some of the Love Boat scripts, he’s a writer and director credited with 25 plays including a ‘prequel’ to Othello. Ted also calls himself a ‘footnote historian’ having written a trilogy of plays focussing on African Americans who had been relegated to footnote status in American history in previous historical accounts. Ted also fondly remembered the three Australians who were among the 552 stars who made cameo appearances in Love Boat’s nine seasons on air - Trisha Noble, a 'graduate' of Australian Bandstand, Helen Reddy still famous for her I Am Woman anthem and Delvene Delaney who was a star of Paul Hogan's TV shows. Here is an interesting eight minutes with Ted Lange. @princesscruises
