I never thought I'd be able to pick a favorite tv show since I love so many out there, but I was wrong, Ted Lasso is without a doubt my favorite show of all time, with Invincible as a close 2nd (Gotta spread the love)
I love that Ted Lasso understood and lovingly embracing his role as a manager with more emphasis on people/personal management, while at the same time gladly delegates the coaching of a more technical aspects to coach beard. Classic two-man manager/coach/gaffer.
Any coaching staff needs balance. You need someone who players can relate to and confide in, someone to help build them up. However, you also need a hard ass who gives them shit when they screw up and doesn't have to be nice about it. Maybe add in a good X's and O's guy to round it out. A good head coach realizes which of those roles is natural for him, and then gets himself a staff who can fill the other roles. The worst is when a coach only brings on assistants who see things the exact same way he does. Terrible idea.
@@KS-xk2so which is what we have at Richmond at the end of S2. Ted; the man manager who has built unity, spirit and belief in the team through his personal charm, who the players have bought into and support. Roy; the mean hard arse who's got the playing experience, he's mean and tough but also experienced, knows how it feels to play on the pitch and sit in the locker room and how to get over the hurdles. And finally Beard; who is the knowledgable coach, the one who has almost certainly taught himself the rules and tactics down to the fine print so he understands the tactical side of the game even without having played it himself. Meanwhile Nate at West Ham will only ever see things his way and won't tolerate anyone telling him differently. He's the tactical genius, he understands the game just by watching it unlike Beard who has to read and learn. But he lacks the man management of Ted, the self improvement of Beard and the ferocity and experience of Roy, the combination of which will cost him. His players will fall out with him, doubt him and question him. In response, he will double down on his chosen path and ultimately lose the dressing room.
The way he’s so nice throughout his speech then gets everyone to look at him before smashing the believe sign was amazing as well, actually is great man management
I never thought anyone could top Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights, but damnit if Ted Lasso did. I love this show and his talks are exactly what I need at times. Amazing work and writing. Cannot wait for more.
Different style. Coach taylor is the macho guy, a yeller screamer and will kick your ass, but with heart of gold. Whereas ted is just all around wholesome human being
Scotty Bowman, once talked about how he was told “In a crucial moment, if you can ever get your team to laugh.” This was prime example of that. The writing for this show continues to leave me astonished.
If you see at 1:10… the men laughing. Jason probably improved the line “first time seeing Tan Lines”. I. Efffing. Love… This Show. Definitely down in the books with one of the best sitcoms in history. 20 Emmy Nod’s and it’s streaming. Not regular tv 👏👏👏👏
For someone who just got dumped by a girl for her abusive ex, I find this speech miraculously touching and relatable. Obviously, here the "her" is really her and no matter what changes life brought to you, you gotta embrace them instead of fighting the why's and what if's. The only way to recovery is the way forward.
Alot of subtle things in this scene. Issac offering his seat to Nate, Roy seeing it., which is likely why he gave Issac the Captain's band later in season.
I'm always thinking why a team this solid is not on top of the league, I mean.. In first season it shown that Their bond with one and another is very strong, every player have a good skills, even tho the main coach Ted Lasso didn't really understand about football but learn and very very good at motivating, uniting, raising the morals.. Not only to the players, but also the other coaches and the club staffs.. And then finally in Season 3 I was happy the club was on top of league...
very nice, General praise: "This is awesome!", "Wow, this is so cool!", "Love it!", "Great job!" Highlighting specifics: "I loved the editing in this video", "This made me laugh so hard!", "Your [skill] is amazing!", "The music choice is perfect!" Encoura
I love Roy’s lack of self-awareness sometimes. “I never really liked tart” did you think nobody noticed😂 or when he had to think about where his niece was learning foul language from then he realizes it’s him
This material acts as a catalyst to new ways of thinking. A book I read with akin topics was a key part of my intellectual journey. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
the popup that blocks the last 16 seconds is making me delete this from my favorites. It's the best part of the clip and it's blocked. No way to remove it. Sucks...
