depends, but I concede it's tough. It's important to be honest, as soon as she tried to keep it a secret, then broke up when it became public indicates she was never serious to begin with. A true relationship requires sacrifice and risk and she doesn't want to pay either of those tolls. Sam deserves someone better, who cares about him in similar measure.

I think they did the right thing, and Sam demonstrated his own maturity by setting boundaries. Both of them were very responsible

@@jesusnthedaisychain EXACTLY the same, and Rupert was cast as a villain. That's my point, the old Rebecca was angry and bitter for what Rupert did and then justifies the same action as virtuous when she does the same exact thing. It's totally a double standard.

@@cinoaz1243 Difference is that she didn't know who Sam was before they formed an emotional connection. So I don't think you can accuse her of manipulation, because until reasonably late in their relationship there was no power dynamic to speak of. The continuing affair...I mean, sure? I guess it can be seen as bad, but like...they were having fun and enjoying each other's company. She made no demands on him, they maintained boundaries and personal lives, and once she thought it was getting in the way of their careers she gently cut him off. I really don't see how Rebecca can be considered anything like Rupert (who, by the way, is also an adulterer, which is the main problem with him) unless you literally look at the situation in the broadest possible terms.

The character is definitely not in her 60s but I also feel uncomfortable with the age difference. He is just so young and has very little actual life experience (I am the same age Sam is supposed to be). I think I would be more ok with this if the character was in his mid to late 20s
