video: VHS (unk gen) - transfer/encode Sony Vegas at 9.5K max, 6K avg, 192 min - DVD Architect - DVD9 - demux separate audio & video streams in DVD Decrypter - audio synch in Sony Vegas Pro 12 - re-write mpeg2 file in Sony Vegas Pro 12 at original encoding levels (9.5K max, 6K avg, 192 min) - so no re-encoding took place) - reauthor as 2xDVD5 set in DVD Architect Pro 6
audio: FM radio station WRIF (recording details/lineage unknown) 1,536 bit LPCM - flac 8 - decode as wav w/ TLH - re-encode at 48 kHz for DVD compliance.
Note: the FM broadcast audio doesn't kick in until right about the 9-minute mark (right at the start of the song "Just What the Doctor Ordered"). So don't expect to hear the nicer audio when you first start playing this video. All f-bombs were edited out by the radio station using a rather annoying method whereby they overlayed those words with audience noise. The problem being, however, it didn't match the audience noise in the venue, so it sounds odd. In a few spots, I pulled the f-bomb from the original recording and matrixed it into the FM broadcast recording. That doesn't sound all that good either - so I stopped doing it.
Synching this video with the FM broadcast makes a huge difference in the enjoyability level. Many things said-sung on the stage were literally completely lost in the overloaded audio sourced from the videocam.
