Just saw him being interviewed by french tv, the journalist asked him what's next? He said I'm gonna enjoy this time in Paris and then get back to get ready.....the journalist ask " get ready for what?" Teddy Riner "The LA game!" In 4 years

Funny he just won a third (individual) olympic gold medal at 35 years old. And that last one sets him apart.

Absolutely agree. And Gaba's recovery against Hifumi set Riner up to beat Saito (twice) in the team finals. What a legend!

The biggest challenge for Riner has always been to maintain a healthy and strong body for this frame size. It is incredibly difficult to keep such a superhuman body in shape.

During the training camp in Düsseldorf in 2019 after loss in Paris...he trained 4 additional hours a day in our dojo with his Uke and 2 coaches...he works so hard ...is so HUGE (i drove him back to the hotel) and is one of the nicest, friendliest and most joyful people I met. He did force me to try and speak french - but his english is very good in a private discussion And tje favourite game of him and his Germanic Uke is who can hit the other in the crotch

Not only Teddy is extremely technical for a HW but he is incredibly focused. Spent 15 years eating, training, sleeping each day at the same time and repeat... Make an itw witv his team to understand the depth of his preparation... Crazy dedicated athlete !!

3rd gold medal in Paris 2024. Teddy is the GOAT.
@gameoverability1876
@gameoverability1876 13 дней назад
i disagree that teddy is not technical.. hes very technical, he just doesnt need to play and be as technical as others because of his size. when you look at him, his iq, strategically how he plays with people, his understanding of the rules etc, how to manage his opponent and never be out of place and many other things, those are not the traits of someone thats just "brute force" like people claim he is. on top of that his résumé is just so far ahead of everyone else, its not even up for debate.

Technique is also about maximizing your physical assets. So saying Teddy isn't as technical as others is kind of a moot point, there's almost no need to use carpenter finesse when you're a helluva lumberjack. You can't get 10 judo world titles on sheer power, speed and cardio.
@TheRealist1.

They have to find a hole in his game.
@chucku00
@chucku00 5 дней назад
@@TheRealist1. As time goes by, Teddy's holes in his game will likely be his age (he'll be 39 for LA 2028) and his cardio. But even so, he'll probably get one or two gold medals in the next olympics. This guy's mind and thirst for winning (not only in judo but in any other sport or game) is certainly his greatest asset. Heck, after being the last olympic torch bearer and his overall career he has nothing more to prove to anyone but himself.

The groundwork is so quick in comparison to BJJ. 5 seconds after they hit the ground the ref stands them up immediately. Its like they dint value submissions or something. With ground time so short, it makes it super hard to set up a sub like a kimura.

lol, okay give us your analysis of why Teddy's techniue is up there with the greats, clearly you know better than an olympic medalist and someone who has led to the revival of American judo as a force. Also Pedro said that his gripping technique was exceptional, and also that heavy weights generally have worse technique than the lower weights, so he's not saying anything about a black athlete he isnt saying about other non black athletes in the wieght class. But you wasn't listening to him, you heard one word and assumed the rest. If you could mishear someone this bad, then you could do it with every other time you think you've heard what you say you've heard. I dont know if you have, but you're wrong here, you could be wrong at other times too.
