I took my husband to Atlanta for your show at the Tabernacle on the 23rd. It was his birthday gift. You sang this song. And my heart broke into a million pieces. My uncle passed away last year. Overdose. I sang that song at his wedding. I was 13. My mom had just sent it to me earlier in the day. I cried and my husband just kept his arms around me. As the show went on, we got to Simple Things. And for a moment or two, in this big world where kindred spirits and beauty are rare, I found myself with an entire group of people. Singing along and it didn't matter who we were. Or where we had been. We were just there and we all found something that was pure magic. This song was how I discovered Teddy, my grandma was really sick and on hospice already but this was her favorite song, and I found Teddy’s cover and she was absolutely enamored by it. Everytime I would visit her, she would ask me to play this on my phone and we’d sing along together. I never really kept up with how Teddy was doing as this was right before Covid and life just got insane. When I first saw his name on Spotify last year for one of his original songs I almost cried as I was instantly reminded of this cover. I met my wife in 2004 she was single with no kids. I came with 3 sons that I raised and living with me. Her father was hesitant, her mother said give him a chance, if he’s raising his sons, he has to be a good man. My mother didn’t like her because she was becoming the new woman in my life. We married in 2007 and are still married 13 years later. My sons all call her Mom. My father in law couldn’t imagine life without hanging out and smoking cigars with his grown adult step grandsons. We added our daughter and son to our family and we’ve never looked back. My mother sadly is not around to enjoy the family that we have created by her own choice. But here we are 13 years later and still going strong besides the doubts others had! I love my wife!! Edit: I forgot to mention that one of my older sons gave me twin Grandsons, almost 2 years go. So they have Step Great Grandsons and they love them to death.
