I think you will absolutely love "Rush Hour" and "Gambler" in particular. Either would be a great choice to get you back on track with Monsta X. Many of the lines and scenes in this song/video depicted were references to famous movie villains The sexual sounding line was a vampire reference (if you look into the eyes of a vampire, they can mesmerize you so they can go in for the kill. ) I.M has never been shy about sexual references in his lyrics. The cliche part was down to translation issues. He said he isn't cliche and to basically hard pass anything that is. The part in the melody line that you disliked I think is just down to personal opinion - I didn't mind that part at all. It is perfectly fine that you didn't care for that bit. The "eat you like a main dish" guy is I.M Bright orange hair rapper is Joohoney Strawberry blonde guy is Minhyuk (he was the guy on the ground at the end of Beautiful Liar) The guy with longer hair and wearing red glasses is Hyungwon (he rode the horse in Beautiful Liar) The guy with short brown hair is Kihyun (main vocalist) The guy with short black hair with white highlights is Shownu (leader, currently serving in the military)
You're actually completely misreading and misunderstanding I.M's rap verse.. he says 'It ain't cliche, if it's an obvious ending, pass it' as in, if it is cliche and obvious, then pass it up, not worth it. A lot of Monsta X's songs have sexual and/or mature themes as they are all grown men making music for other grown folk. The entire song is supposed to have a restrained and dangerous tension to it and is pretty different from the majority of Monsta X's title tracks as they wanted to experiment with something a bit different during the p@ndemic, the song itself is about the temptation and allure of a fatal love (the albums title, and a fan favourite) and they all depict cinematic villains to enhance the concept. The bridge where they go into their pretty and light falsettos, always felt like it was there to soften and ease the driving tension of the song and lull you into a false sense of security, and then the dual rising harmony is there to pull it back up to the heightened tension and the feeling of 'madness' for the final chorus. It's totally fine that you don't personally get it, or like it, they have well over 200 songs and not everything is going to appeal to everyone. In fact, that's never been their goal, they are pretty niche. A lot other Monbebe have dropped suggestions for songs that you may prefer in the comments, I would like to add on to that by saying, when it comes to Monsta X, don't just stick to their title tracks, their b-sides are where the real magic lies
Thanks for the honest reaction! I'd recommend checking out one of the title tracks helmed by Joohoney (Joker-looking rapper): Gambler, Rush Hour and Love. None of the members were involved in composing, producing or arranging Love Killa and from what I can tell, they rarely work with the guy who did all that (Willie Weeks).
Monsta X are best when they are self produced. You should react to Gambler, Rush Hour and Love. They are all title tracks from their last 3 comebacks all produced and written by Joohoney, their main rapper (the guy portraying the Joker in this MV.) Thank god Starship finally decided to trust him in producing the title tracks because they are 🔥🔥🔥. Also, as he is my bias, can I suggest you check out Joohoney’s solo stuff too! Specifically Psyche, Smoky and King! He is a PHENOMENAL rapper and a true artist… and the man can SING! He’s known for his intense and aggressive rapping, which reminds me of Changbin to be honest, or should I say Changbin reminds me of him since they have been around a lot longer. SKZ are actually big fans of Monsta X. Bangchan regularly watches their MV’s during his lives. You should have started with "Shootout" , "Alligator", "Fantasia", "Gambler" then "Love Killa".. Maybe then you would get/understand the greatest in MONSTA X music..💯💜
This one wasn't one of Honey's. He wrote rap lyrics for it, but isn't credited for anything else. Gambler was the first title track he was more heavily involved in.
if you want some songs with a deeper meaning and really nice lyrics, I'd definitely recommend mercy as well as wildfire... I think both of them are written by Hyungwon... I really like his writing The rap parts are also fire as always and both songs are underrated B sides in my opinion

I'm with everyone else who says you haven't found the Right tracks for You yet. Rush Hour is hard hitting and aggressive with good rap. Love is something completely different. They mixed jazz, r&b, and rap into one of the Coolest songs they've done. It is a Vibe all its own. Shoot Out is a very aggressive, in your face kind of so ng with good rap. Hi Teddy, love your analyses! I'm so sorry if I sound like nitpicking but they call themselves MonstA not monster X. I can't find the video but there was at least one instance when they refused to come to the stage or red carpet when they were announced incorrectly.

Thanks for your reaction again, i respect your opinion, you're the one who knows about this, i just enjoy music; as already said, up to here title tracks or main songs weren't produced by them, since Gambler they were more involved in the making of albums, so i recomend those, also Rush hour one of my top three, and Love, but their previous albums were fire too, they've been the inspiration of several younger groups. Sambakja needs to cleanse your palate. Also, dance practice for this is really good, and it's an oft-covered dance track. Hilarious that you didn't like parts of it! (Kinda hope the whole song haunts you until you love it, but that's just me being a petty fanlady.) Please don't dismiss our MX crew, though. They really do have so many fire tracks even if this one let you down.
I love Rush Hour, Alligator, Gambler and Shootout from MX. They have so many great songs // this song to me was really wild to watch with all the movie bad guy references to American Psycho, The Joker, Hannibal Lector, etc. I just love their creativity and grown-up vibes.
About the pronounciation of their name , it's not MONSTER X but monsTA X , I'm pretty sure the members don't like the name monster x "Also sorry if that came out as rude English isn't my first language"
It might just be his accent - words ending in 'a' tend to sound like 'er' with a lot of English accents, so it can be hard to make 'Monster' sound right
I reccommend you listen to Kang Daniels PARANOIA, I don't know much about him besides the fact that he is a solo artist but I think you'll really like the song.
You know this was a Monsta X song I did not intially fall in love with. I think after the first time I listened to this when I was new to k-pop I went "I liked parts so much and was strongly against other parts" and kind of forgot about it until months later when my friend and I were talking about ridiculous sexy lines in kpop and I.M's "I want you eat me like a main dish" came up. It's still not one of my favourites but I've forgiven it for how much I initially simultaneously liked and disliked it. Maybe try some of their newer tracks like Gambler or Kiss or Death. Or there's always Shoot Out which is definitely one of their most popular songs.
You were right with the Joker part. It seems they used various movie references for each member. Idk if it's ever been officially said who's who but to me it seems like Joohoney is Joker, you got that one, Kihyun is Hannibal (in the cell), Hyungwon is Tyler from Fight Club, Minhyuk is Christian Bale's Character in American Psycho...I think I.M is from Drive and Shownu I'm honestly not so sure but could be John Wick or Hitman or someone.
ahhhh teddy i love this! monsta x are so talented and theyve been in the industry for a long time! their rapline is insane (a lot of people joke that theyre the han and changbin of gen 3)! i hope you react to a song they wrote and produced themselves :) (i love rush hour for example). they debuted with 7 members (ot7 all the way) but wonho sadly had to leave and is doing solo music and their leader shownu is in the military right now as well.
I wanna reccomend monsta x songs but I'm not too sure which ones but some i really like are 'hero' 'follow' and 'dramarama' i say those cause they all have mvs I dunno 😭

Love Killa is not my favorite Monsta X song either. My recommendations of other Monsta X songs: Trespass, Ready or Not, Rodeo, Gambler, RUSH. I really love Beautiful Liar as well (to which you already reacted).

Honestly, you shouldn't have to feel too bad about not liking a song in it's entirety. Some of their stuff can get a little out there, especially when it's not self-produced.
teddy: "hopefully this was early on in their career" me: chuckling darkly to myself "oh you have no idea" on a more serious note, i absolutely love that song and cant see what you might dislike about it (but maybe ive just gotten used to it considering how much i listen to it). pls do check out LOVE by them (as well as other songs already mentioned by others) i would also love to see a nct 127 reaction. they are kinda considered as skz' noise brothers as their music is also really experimental (id go with limitless, firetruck or kick it for the beginning) and maybe some p1harmony. you will either love or hate their song scared - i love it, but it aint for everyone
sorry i have to say it...teddy did the song make u anxious 😂😂 my feeling towards the song and how they change it up abruptly and may seem off..maybe its to make the listener anxious. especially at the end. I'm enjoying your monsta x journey. I think you'll enjoy gambler being produced by joohoney(orange hair). If you actually want to see some of their early work i recommend Rush or Beautiful. GAMBLER is a good one to react to... will be able to tell that those songs are a continuity of each other... the sound. But Gambler is sooo much better 😉

You should definitely watch the dance practices with the songs... I don't know, sometimes it also helps me see the song differently when I see the dance highlight the rhythmic aspects and other sonic elements
