Good work deserves 👏 👍 Mike, could you look into the Rachel Manning case from the UK please? I feel so close to this tragedy (I lived opposite the telephone booth, where she made her last phone call). Years on end, I'd get up in the night to look at the booth, feeling like I just can't let someone else get into trouble 😢

Really gotta commend the girlfriend for not going into denial - something I could see happen easily in such a situation - and tipping off the cops and allowing the DNA test. Seeing her go off on him was satisfying and you could tell she knew the truth from his nonanswers. Kudos for doing what's right. I really hope his son grows up to be a better person like his very decent mother.

Welllllll...... okay kudos to her for not going into full, immediate denial. We've all seen people do that. But I watch that clip and I see someone who at least WANTS TO be in denial. From the very first time she asks "Did you do it?", and he doesn't answer, that IS his answer. Anyone falsely accused would be freaking out and sobbing to their partner about how they DID NOT do this horrible thing, which was not only atrocious evil to the victims, but also (if they did do it) cheating on that partner --like why wasn't she 'enough' for his needs? But no, he refuses to answer. Every time she asks after that first time, she's begging him to LIE to her, so she can at least try to live in the in-between world of perception, the one between knowing that your loved one is who you always thought they were, versus knowing they are a beast of nightmares. I suspect a frightening number of spouses, friends, mothers and fathers live there, at least temporarily. I know my grandmother lived there until the day she died, regarding my uncle who molested my sister and our cousin. Even after he was sent to prison and admitted to the whole family that he did it, my grandmother clung to the idea that his pedophilia "made" him do it, like it was so compelling that he couldn't choose not to do it, like epilepsy or something. And mind you that was his mother, but what really hurts and enrages us grandkids the most is that OUR mothers (my mom and her sister e.g. my aunt e.g. my cousin's mom) did not cut off ties to their brother, continued to hang out with him sometimes after he got out of prison. And if any of us dared to question this choice, considering what he did to THEIR daughters, they would lash out as US about it, how they didn't want to talk about it. Like HOW DARE we try to make them imagine being a tiny girl of 4 or 7 years of age, terrified but pretending to be asleep while a huge, hairy, naked man is on top of you, rubbing his whole body on you? HOW DARE we try to drag them out of that in-between world, into the real one, the one where nothing positive about their brother was more relevant than what was horrific about him? Forensic science has brought us to a point where denial SHOULD be just as impossible for a loved one as to an impartial juror. Like this ^ guy said, "They have my DNA!" But note how that means nothing to the girlfriend. True justice would be horrible criminals having zero support from anyone because they don't deserve it. But we're not there yet; the human psyche isn't ready to keep up with science yet. Blind love remains a stubbornly powerful thing.

She is one strong woman. It made me wonder, what made her make the anonymous tip in the first place. Finding women's underwear in the back of your boyfriend's car, surely you would be just thinking that he's cheating, and nothing more nefarious. There would have to be other factors to make her call in that tip. It could be suspicious behaviour, like him quitting his job and getting TF out of dodge when the body was found, but I couldn't help but wonder if he was abusive towards her in any way, whether it be physical, emotional, being controlling, or anything else. It's likely that there was a mixture of things that added up to her feeling concerned. The reports about the type of vehicle, and that there was a small child's shoe inside it. Whatever led to her decision to make that call, I really do commend her for it too.

For anyone wondering, his Girlfriend left him and testified on the stand against him. She blew his alibi out of the water, she testified about his behaviour during the time that each case happened, and also about his silence when she told him they found her body. Oh and by the way, she worked directly across the road from where he left her body. She could see the crime scene from her work.

Hey Mike, I think you should consider covering Bob Berdella! He was known as the Kansas City butcher. By day he ran a weird flea market store called "Bob's Bazaar Bizarre" but by night he prowled the streets for vulnerable men he would "take in" but while they were in his home he would torture them in horrific ways. He was caught after a victim managed to escape. It's an interesting case and not super well known. Edit: to the clowns giving me grief because iT's BeEn CoVeReD bY OtHeR cHanNelS, are you unaware that Mike has already covered extensively done cases? A lot of people still don't know about Bob, and even those who do would still probably enjoy Mike's take on the story. It's not like these stories are off limits, I think everyone who wants to cover a story with their own flavor should do so. Also, "Bob's Bazaar Bizarre" was the correct title of his shop, look it up.

I was in such the habit that there were times after I went grocery shopping that I'd lock my mom out while she was grabbing the rest of the groceries. Honestly I can't even imagine being able to fall asleep with a top-to-bottom windowed door right at my feet. Maybe she was too drunk to even think, but then it fell on her friends (especially the one that lived in the house) to make sure that frikkin door was LOCKED! Look at 22:10 --that thing had both a key AND keypad lock, but hey why bother taking advantage of that? For that matter, how could you even sit on that couch and watch TV with that giant rectangle of transparency right beside you, no curtains on it or anything, especially at night when someone standing out in the dark can see you perfectly, but you can't see them? And the thing is, I'm a fool for windows; the more the merrier in my book. I LOVE having the house filled with natural light in the daytime, and I think it's such a shame when I see people keeping them covered with curtains or blinds. I could even appreciate having a fully-glassed door like that. But all you have to do is apply privacy frosting to the glass (they sell self-adhesive sheets at home improvement stores). Or do like I did with ALL the windows in my house: make window curtains out of the kind of shower curtains that are clear but with fragmented shapes, so you can't really make anything out by looking through them. I have the light in the daytime, privacy 24/7, and the ability to to pull the curtain aside if I need to see what's making a noise outside or whatever.

Hey Mike! Watched this early over on your Patreon channel. Absolutely tragic for Brianna and her family. To think she traveled the world only to have her life taken at home, where she should have felt safest. I just don’t have words for what a despicable POS the monster who did this to her was. May he rot in hell when his time comes.

@@clementine2001 I thought the same thing, but I understood why she did it. She couldn’t reconcile that the man she loved. The father of her child. The man she shared a bed with, could be a cold, heartless rapist and killer. She saw the man she thought she knew standing in front of her transformed into the monster he really is. It probably blew her mind and tore her heart to pieces. She was devastated for herself, and for him. I can’t imagine.

Hadn't heard of this case before and surprised -- actually thrilled -- to hear he got the DP. You don't hear of that happening often enough. Poor Briana had her whole life ahead of her... how awfully sad, and sad for her family and the POS's family as well. Anyhow, hope your weekend is off to a great start!

I’m generally against the DP. But not in this case. He quit his job and left state after the murder. So guilty. My fear for DP cases is our human need to punish can fall on convenient rather than correct targets. Like Milgaard. Convicted of a rape-murder because he was a stoner who wanted a donut at the wrong time. 20 years he rotted in Canadian prison till DNA evidence proved it wasn’t him. Our need to punish is strong.

@@redelfshotthefood8213 That's kind of how I felt when I heard this. I didn't know if I had changed my opinion on the DP or he's just THAT depraved. This case, and then the Denise Amber Lee case remind me what the death penalty is for.

What I would like to know is : how far away does he has to go to prison ? Another state? Can his wife and child still visit him easily ? Pay for the trip , hotel . Do relatives usually still visit a death row inmate often ?
@BariumCobaltNitrog3n
@BariumCobaltNitrog3n Год назад
The death penalty is the government's way of saying it's ok to kill people. They don't want to pay to keep him alive and they don't want to learn anything about preventing it from happening again. It's unlikely he enjoyed murder as much as you do. Did you know 10% of all executions are innocent people?
@woutervanlent5181
@woutervanlent5181 Год назад
@@BariumCobaltNitrog3n You have a point that the government can learn from such a guy . Another approach is that keeping such a person alive is torture . There is nothing to live for anymore , who will visit you in jail , having a party/bbq - booze forget it , they air you 1 hour per day - first hands on your back - handcuffs on . In another clip I learned that around Christmas there are a lot of suicide attempts . Get it over with and give them the lethal injection .

I wouldn't have been able to stand there in front of my spouse and be so calm. I wouldn't even be able to touch him. I'm hoping the only reason she was acting so calm, collected and "on his side" was purely to get him to admit what he had done in order to help the victims and their families. Another great video Mike.
