I think it would be funny if Gohan was one of those "Im not a kid anymore Dad, im 11!" types of kids, so he's actually the one who came up with the Teen Gohan name. Considering he was the strongest on earth at the time and just lost his Dad, I feel like nobody corrected him until years later.

Dragon Ball Legends does it best. With Saiyan-Namek saga Gohan having (kid) at the end of his name, Cell saga Gohan has (youth) at the end, and Buu saga Gohan has (teen)

I believe the reason he’s called “teen” gohan is because by saiyan standards, he is a teenager, when we first saw goku, he was 12, and he’s a full saiyan, but he still looked like a child

Here In Brazil, we always refer to Teen Gohan as "Gohan Jovem", or "Young Gohan". Which Is honestly more accurate.

I met Kyle Herbert (English VA of Gohan from Boo Arc onwards) back in 2008 and he called his character "Teen Gohan". I've also done a quick google search and there are websites as old as 2012 interviewing Kyle Herbert on voicing "Teen Gohan". I'm pretty sure the only ones who refer to the Cell Arc Gohan as a teen are video games and that is just to separate him from the Saiyan Arc and Boo Arc skins. Gohan was actually only 3 when he first appeared in Dragon Ball but for reprints after the initial publishing of the chapter he was aged up to 4.

We keep in mind the time chamber coming out early, but we tend to forget the saiyan invasion happened in less than a year. While Raditz said they had a year, they arrived early. If I remember correctly they arrive after only 10 or 11 months instead of a full year. That or TFS is leaking into my memory again and mixing up the canon as it sometimes does.

And that’s why I called Gohan at the end of cell saga Gohan (Youth) and I call Gohan during the Buu saga Gohan (Teen) and then Gohan during super Gohan (Adult)

They actually changed the name for “Teen Gohan” to “Youth Gohan” or “Gohan Youth” and changed the name for Adult Gohan(DBZ not super) to Teen Gohan bc in the mangga he was actually only 16yo

I think people say Teen Gohan just because it's faster to say the Pre-Teen Gohan. Also thanks to the DBZ games with this iteration as playable.
