If I was told this kid was 35, without knowing different, I wouldn't question it.

I did NOT plan on watching this for 49 minutes, but I couldn’t turn it off. This is the most bizarre and unsettlingly candid conversation I’ve ever seen. Stranger than fiction

i haven't reached the end yet but i don't think i've ever been so unsettled by a kid before. the way he talks and his unwavering stare is haunting.

A trusted parent not believing a child about sexual abuse can cause HUGE psychological damage. Brushing it off as potentially just a delusion is… not sitting right with me.

As someone with tinnitus I thank-use for taking the time to make subtitles. Auto generated ones are way off and leave me very confused sometimes. Your subtitles are clear and cordial and I really appreciate it.

You can tell even the detectives are unsettled with this guy. They did an amazing job under the circumstances but they had to have been taken back by this.

The creepiest interview I’ve ever seen. The voice on this 15 year old sounds like a demon. The way he stares right back at the detective, really unnerving. The horror this poor mother went through, sends chills. God bless her and her other son.

a guy i was friends with in school was quite open about his schizophrenia, so i once asked him what it was like to hear voices. he said that the first time he read a book he heard a voice behind him whispering that she was thirsty. it scared the shit out of him he said. This stuff is scary as hell, and dealing with it for years without treatment, must have been torture.

His poor brother lost everything. He lost his father at a young age in a way that was probably drawn out and traumatic, he lost his mother and brother, and he lost his home with everything that he owns. I can’t even imagine loss on that scale, especially while he’s still so young. I hope he is doing well and enjoying his life.

If he was r**ped that explains a lot. He disassociated with himself. He describes not bathing that’s not something someone who is lying would admit to. He was traumatized, terrorized and no one protected him. His mother did not protect him his brother was spared from it. Where’s the person that hurt this kid?! Still out there? I hate how they assume he was lying. The trauma changes the young man’s feelings. He doesn’t trust his own feelings creates an animated person of himself. This kid was neglected and I’m still astounded that no one is looking at this. And yes he’s going to change the story. He’s been assaulted, no one cared.

I remember Dr. Phil interviewed this man in the recent years as an adult. He is just as calm, slow paced and unapologetic about what he did. He even smiled reminiscing about his own mother's murder. Not a glimpse of remorse. He's truly a terrifying person.

You can see in the family photos how Zach's entire affect changes from his younger years to age 11. Even the way he stands changes. The light has just completely left his eyes by that point. It's such a chilling change that has taken over him. There's even bags under his eyes. He just seems: defeated. No excuse for what he's done but you can definitely see the changes in him.

It’s like a violent, old man, trapped inside a 15 year olds body. So frigging creeping. The point where he said he was laughing when killing his mother gave me chills.

I feel so bad for that son. He ran to his moms room and kicked her door open to save her from a fire. Imagine how destroyed you would be instead of saving your mother, walking into something so unimaginable. I hope he is doing better.

This kid is extremely unique. Most killers, serial killers, psychopaths, etc. They all seem pretty normal when they're talking. That's why most people never suspect them. But this guy right here, is just evil right on the surface. He's like somebody they would make up in a horror movie.

My uncle had the same diagnosis. Acted and talked the exact same way. Even looked with his head down like this kid. Was Monotone. Obviously, not everyone with schitzo and depression are killers. Having lived with my uncle, I can say he was odd. Never bathed. Abit creepy. But he was really nice. Just wanted a friend.

So he just always talked like that and NO ONE who knew him found it terrifying??

I believe him about the childhood rape. It happened to my little brother, my parents didn't believe him, but my sisters and I did. His behavior after was violent, he didn't shower for months and screamed and cried when my mom made him shower. My sisters and I did our best to comfort him in his rages. He didn't get violent with us girls, but did with our parents because of anger that he should of been protected by my parents and most importantly he should of had that chance that his own parents would believe him. He developed what his counselor called trauma, ptsd, and bi polar disorder. After my brothers funeral because he was involved in a car accident from drinking and driving my mother told us she went to his counselor to visit about some things. His counselor told my mom she wasn't surprised because after he was raped at age 9 he started developing a behavior of not caring because he felt that he wasn't cared about by the most important people to him. His mommy and daddy. It was definitely wrong of this young man to kill his mother, he should be imprisoned for life, but the thing is how was his mother's reaction towards his accusations? I bet anything it was one of her lovers she had after the dad passed away. Trauma seriously can ruin a person's life. I advise everyone to take the information from this video and be a voice for children who are susceptible to molestation, rape by a live in family member, friend of the family, etc.... never leave a child with anybody you think you could trust. My heart hurts after Watching this video. Especially for the brother whom lost his father, his mother was murdered by his own brother, and his brother that will never be free again. And I'm sure he too was a victim of sexual assault if his brother was. Prayers for all the children of the world.

As a mother, this sincerely scares the absolute sh*t out of me. What I find especially terrifying is how completely unsuspecting both his mother and brother were. They seem like they loved him and just assumed that he loved them too.

Familiy photos in these things always freak me out. The mom took these pictures of what she thought was her happy family, not knowing that her own son was going to grow up to violently murder her. It just gives the photos a really eerie feel to them.

I’ve spent a bit of time in the army and I’m not a professional but this kid has that stare. The “you’ve been through it” stare. In his eyes it’s easy to see that something isn’t right

This guy is the only killer that has given me actual chills. Ive seen a lot of interviews, interrogations etc etc. But this guy chills me to the bone.

For anyone interested he is housed at Special Needs Facility in Nashville and is minimum restricted. It's a very difficult facility to get transferred to, so he definitely had some major issues. It is a correctional complex, just a bit different. EDIT for those confused. A correctional complex is a prison . Special Needs Facility is a prison. He is still in prison.

I think it's nice that Zach got to do the narration as well.

I’ve discounted a few channels like yours as JCS ripoffs, but after subscribing and watching too many hours of this content I can honestly say you’re a unique crime/interrogation breakdown channel that deserves the same respect as JCS. 10/10 quality with your content, love ya

I don’t think that it’s right that a 15 year old kid is allowed to waive his rights to a lawyer. it’s quite obvious his kids messed up he should’ve had a lawyer.

I work in mental health and I have had very limited conversations with some autistic people, who were surprisingly emotionally expressive when writing letters, texts, etc. Their brains work differently, their verbal communication is affected, and so is their ability to connect with others. He was not faking or trying to sound evil, in my opinion.

Let's take a minute to appreciate the amount of professionalism needed from these detectives through this investigation

Another case of an obviously disturbed and suffering young man that fell through the cracks. Where are the professionals who encountered him daily!!!

I love the tone and cadence of the narrator's voice - it lends a certain sinister air to the story, and definitely enhances the experience. This has become one of my favorite channels, and every time a new episode is released it's like Christmas morning.

It’s sad because this mother obviously went above and beyond to make sure her son knew he was loved and deeply cared about mentally and physically. He just don’t know how blessed he was to have such a mom.

If this kids exhibited any of the behaviors that he is showing in the interview PRIOR to his being brought in, then everyone around him was in denial that he was disturbed and needed help. Geez, he's like a character from a horror movie.

His answers are so fast. He doesn’t need to think about it. All he is saying is true. This is so wild. I think it is vital for psychologists to understand why this happened. How and why he is like he is. Even when they speed up the footage, he is completely still. Ooof.

ive never been so chilled to the bone by a killer than i have listening to zach talk. his monotone voice, the way he speaks, how willing he was to admit the crime he committed. not wanting to admit his motive as to why he killed his mother (and potentially his brother) in such a horrific way. he truly is straight out of a horror movie.

This whole thing is tragic. It’s sad to see the pictures of them both as little boys. So innocent snd sweet, only for one of them to grow up to be so horrific.

What strikes me is the unnerving *similarity* between Zach and Josh: they *both* have flat affect, and Josh’s voice is just *slightly* more expressive than his brother’s. I think there *may* be a genetic predisposition in this family to both schizoid-affective disorder and schizophrenia. In photos of the mother and two sons, often *both* Zach *and* Josh have emotionless expressions, while their mother is smiling.

There is no way anyone talked or even looked at this kid and didn’t think “that dude looks like a psychopath”. One sentence and that’s the vibe he gives.

I'm wearing headphones while listening to this and his voice sends shivers down my spine... What makes it even worse is that he's only 15 sounding and acting like that.

I don’t scare easy but this kid brought every ounce of fear out of me. Cold, calculated and collected, looking in his eyes there is nothing there. His voice made me feel like an exorcism was bout to happen.

Holy shit. I went to school with Zack. I literally could have walked to his house. Only for a couple years in middle school when I was living in Hendersonville, but holy fuck. That’s actually insane. He was always super quiet and weird. But him doing this? I’m actually shocked. I never even knew. I moved over winter break of 7th grade year and haven’t thought much of Hendersonville since.

If you met this dude, every alarm bell in your head would go off. But given his age I can see why teachers would want to try to reach him. Some people can’t be helped. He’s very much a Frankenstein’s monster type of dude.

His brother seemed to think this behavior was super normal… the monotone emotionless state he’s in… seems like it’s just a constant show he puts on. I guess when you’re related to someone and see them every day things like this just seem normal to you. Which may mean that they didn’t think this was a red flag. Meanwhile people like you and me would get chills if we met this guy

That was the saddest confession I have seen. He says he was assaulted at 11 and that seems to be the age where things started to go badly for him. He CLEARLY has mental health issues. To consider how different this situation could've been had he gotten the help he needed is heartbreaking....

You don't have to feel emotions to mirror them. Zach's use of emojis is not proof he was capable of emotion, he was just mirroring his mother's/brother's use of them, most likely to avoid questions and concerns about his 'quiet/odd' behaviour as that sent him to therapists before.

This kid is straight up crazy. You can see it in his pictures. He isn't even looking at the camera, he is so detached from the moment. His voice is freakin chilling.

My heart goes out to his brother who seemed like both a loving son and caring brother who was concerned with his brother’s general well-being. To lose a father early is sad, to lose a mom that early is heart-breaking, and to lose a brother is awful, but to lose all three is indescribable. I hope he was able to go on and find some level of happiness in life and that his brother didn’t succeed in stealing that from him too.

This young man sounds like the main character in the movie "Sling Blade" played by Billy Bob Thornton. This had to be, hands down the most difficult interview law enforcement has ever had to do. I was held captive throughout its entirety. It's actually quite terrifying to think the human mind can morph into a robotic heinous killer like that, or worse yet, that someone could keep up that monotonic façade for years to come.
