If he was r**ped that explains a lot. He disassociated with himself. He describes not bathing that’s not something someone who is lying would admit to. He was traumatized, terrorized and no one protected him. His mother did not protect him his brother was spared from it. Where’s the person that hurt this kid?! Still out there? I hate how they assume he was lying. The trauma changes the young man’s feelings. He doesn’t trust his own feelings creates an animated person of himself. This kid was neglected and I’m still astounded that no one is looking at this. And yes he’s going to change the story. He’s been assaulted, no one cared.

Its the same sh*t over and over and over and over again. And yet people add all kinda of dumb bullsh*t to it. I have a family full of doctors and aome things just are much simpler than it looks like. * in thiy case abuse. You can see it in the eyes. Less Adrenalin in socio and psychopaths = bored look. Smirking = thinks he is smarter than anyone and think he is "cool". Read psychology books. It can also be Schizophrenie. These people are truly innocent and were not themselves at all. They have too much dopamine. Which leads to overstimulation = seeing and thinking sh*t. When they get meds that lower dopamine, they are just normal humans and should be let free. I believe him about the childhood rape. It happened to my little brother, my parents didn't believe him, but my sisters and I did. His behavior after was violent, he didn't shower for months and screamed and cried when my mom made him shower. My sisters and I did our best to comfort him in his rages. He didn't get violent with us girls, but did with our parents because of anger that he should of been protected by my parents and most importantly he should of had that chance that his own parents would believe him. He developed what his counselor called trauma, ptsd, and bi polar disorder. After my brothers funeral because he was involved in a car accident from drinking and driving my mother told us she went to his counselor to visit about some things. His counselor told my mom she wasn't surprised because after he was raped at age 9 he started developing a behavior of not caring because he felt that he wasn't cared about by the most important people to him. His mommy and daddy. It was definitely wrong of this young man to kill his mother, he should be imprisoned for life, but the thing is how was his mother's reaction towards his accusations? I bet anything it was one of her lovers she had after the dad passed away. Trauma seriously can ruin a person's life. I advise everyone to take the information from this video and be a voice for children who are susceptible to molestation, rape by a live in family member, friend of the family, etc.... never leave a child with anybody you think you could trust. My heart hurts after Watching this video. Especially for the brother whom lost his father, his mother was murdered by his own brother, and his brother that will never be free again. And I'm sure he too was a victim of sexual assault if his brother was. Prayers for all the children of the world.

That was some three years ago and I haven't had to see anyone since. I agree with you on his brother. Cutting off your mentaly ill son's medicines is not very smart and very irresponsible if you really care about your child. The chick just wanted to be a triathlete and the boy's medicines were a bit too much spending maybe? Also throwing off the rape story as just "imagination" is pure bad parenting. Too bad his pops died that early in his life..also of ALS - thats a martyr's death right there. Probably scarred the kid for life. I know the struggle because my dad passed away from the same thing...watching your parent slowly lose his body, ending up barely talking and then finding him dead..its hard to deal with..even for an adult. But im a nearly 40y adult, and a trained medic and the kid was 9 when he was witnessing his dad slowly dissolving into nothingness. And then being raped at 11. Damn. His particular taste in the videogames and the books he was interested in suggests a very smart kid...who was left to search on the internet on how to deal with his illnes. Have you ever read the side effects of the so-called medicine labels for treating all MMHIs? All are dangerous poisons that you can OD on if you take too much of it. All of them cause health complications. The teen boy was most likely the person who possibly initiated not taking the meds and the health-conscious mom decided to go along with that. Did that get her killed? I think it's the lack of needed mental health support in this country that killed her just as much as her son did. This mother needed resources she didn't have access to and this kid needed to know how to deal with his illness/s...and teens like to deal with very personal embarrassment causing ordeals on their own. You don't have to feel emotions to mirror them. Zach's use of emojis is not proof he was capable of emotion, he was just mirroring his mother's/brother's use of them, most likely to avoid questions and concerns about his 'quiet/odd' behaviour as that sent him to therapists before.

@@dellalyn9918 it might've even been taught to him in therapy. Not necessarily emojis, but a therapist might have pointed out that he wasn't expressing emotion, so he learned it as a mask.

@@jay_344 Yep... my thoughts too. This is a nobody and a nothing, no talents, no virtues or abilities, who knows it deep down. He now sees a way to be something, finally. Just has to do something obscene and evil. Now he's hamming it up for the camera thinking he's impressing everyone.

i think the interrogator was trying to test him when the killer said he didn't know why he did it vs he doesn't want to say why he did it. if he told the detective he didn't want to say why he did it because it's so wrong to not know why, he'd be called out as reasonable, which he appears not to be.

My heart goes out to his brother who seemed like both a loving son and caring brother who was concerned with his brother’s general well-being. To lose a father early is sad, to lose a mom that early is heart-breaking, and to lose a brother is awful, but to lose all three is indescribable. I hope he was able to go on and find some level of happiness in life and that his brother didn’t succeed in stealing that from him too.

This young man sounds like the main character in the movie "Sling Blade" played by Billy Bob Thornton. This had to be, hands down the most difficult interview law enforcement has ever had to do. I was held captive throughout its entirety. It's actually quite terrifying to think the human mind can morph into a robotic heinous killer like that, or worse yet, that someone could keep up that monotonic façade for years to come.
