Teena was a "PURE ARTIST" this woman did it all, and to this day 14 yrs after her passing, there's still no other female that comes even close to her musical abilities. Arrangement, Composition, Broad range Vocalist, Writing, & Performing... Multi instrumental abilities the list goes on. Ms. Teens was the total package, she's resting but her "CHRIST" given talents will always be remembered by the music community. This is on the female side Prince on the male side, I wish they could have done a project together.
Honestly she is probably one of the older singers that voice still sounded like it did in the 70's. She did outsing most black female artist up until her death. She is missed.
All the actual talent is gone Whitney, Teena, Luther, Teddy Pendegrass, Etta, Gerald Levert and I can go on and on. She is really missed! Great talent that never got the props she deserved.
My top 3 are gone. Michael then Teena and when Prince left me......music died for that day. My more elder favorites...Ella, Coltrane, Monk......etc only existed thru 33's or 78's but to lose the 3 most influential musical instruments that touched my existence in a way I didn't even realize at the time. There music and lyrics not only captured my attention but it stuck to my ribs (like my parents would say about food) It would take way to long to get it all out. I'll just say as of now......MUSIC, LYRICS FROM THE SOUL(those that come from real life..good or bad) AND THE ABILITY TO REACH PEOPLE THROUGH THE MUSIC AND IT'S MESSAGE. Is s feat unlike any other!!!!! I lavish in discovering new oldies to enjoy. I'm not against new performers. I just hope they are more than a one hit wonder

Can we PLEASE cut out these 'white' comments. Its so unessary. Just love her for her total devotion to making beautiful music for us to enjoy and make love to and to understand different levels of love making. She was the love Doctor. I learnt so much about love listening to her musical poetry. Come on now, stop it.
I'm in tears! Absolutely loved her! My favorite singer in the world! She was indeed a black woman inside & out! Pure Genius! No one can take her dedication, loyalty from her! She wrote her music & could play so many instruments! I too sing & I sing her music! Absolutely love me some Tina Marie!

This was absolutely one of my favorite singers of all time. She brought me through a lot of hard times. My only regret was that I didn't get a chance to see her at the Jazz Festival in Cincinnati. 😢 I regret that so much. ... Because I had to work 😮😮.
I remember when her first record came out...nobody knew who she was, the record company didn't put her picture on any of her work...and , when her songs were reaching the tops of the charts, everyone was surprised when they saw she was white,,,but, by that time, she was the shit !!!!

aka "Mad Dad" Recently saw a list of the (considered) 50 greatest female vocalists ever and was surprised Teena didn't make that list. She could out sing over half of the artists on that list. RIP Lady T.

This song came up on my MAC genius when I chose Prince "Adore" as the lead song. Sure was nice to hear this again! What an amazing singer! I grew up listening to her in LA. Saw her in concert too. Can you hear her influence on Joss Stone, and i even her a bit of Jennifer Hundson.
