What a great review! Nothing flashy and fancy, just talking and demonstrating at the same time. This is a very good overview. Thank you. Biggest negative for me is the input options (or lack thereof) and the sequencing/song mode limitations.

I'm not sure if that was a slip of the tongue, but you actually can record the punch in fx on the PO33. It's a great way to chop up and mangle a vocal track. The EP133 sadly, does not share that functionality. Hopefully in a firmware update. I appreciate this overview and impression video. Thank you for your take on this little machine.

That’s our mistake on the PO33 - it’s a while since we’ve used that extensively. The Punch In FX are a great creative tool either way, and as you say, it’s a shame that’s not a function in the KO II. Hopefully it might be added in a firmware update

Well, multi-outs (USB or analog) wouldn’t influence the to buy or not decision for me. These are pro (-sumer) kind of specs, which require development and implementation costs on the hardware side. Unrealistic. Even a Digitakt or Maschine+ don’t offer multiple analog outs. The only way a M+ can do it is by adding a capable USB audio interface… and even then there are a lot of bugs with the NI software (refer to the user community forum). The DT only offers multiple outs by using Overbridge, which is an additional software component including drivers on the PC side for things. In case of the EP-133 (taking its price tag into account) resampling and/or transferring separate layers is a nice solution that would be implemented within the hardware limitations.

I liked the review but at some point you compared the KO II at roughly 300 pounds to a synth that was nearly 3 times the price. What exactly was the point of that? If I wanted to spend more money on a nice piece of gear I’d not be looking at the KO II. It just struck me as odd.

13:33 - All of which are USD $200-500 more than the EP-133. Not a fair comparison. More fair to compare against the Volca Sample II, which even then is $190 less.

The Elektron gear is certainly more expensive but - in the UK at least - you can currently pick up Roland’s SP-404 mk2 for £379, making it the closest thing to a direct competitor right now

All reviews talk about what they don't like or features they want in comparison to other samplers, yet those other products...also don't have features they want. And when has there been samplers with multiple outs except for a few rack samplers from 20-30 years ago?

For comparison, sampling instruments such as the (admittedly, more expensive) Elektron Digitakt, Roland SP-404mkII and Polyend Tacker, all allow for multiple tracks of audio to either be streamed to a DAW via USB, or exported as stems. If you use the KO II to create multiple parts of a track - drums, bass, melodies, etc - as Teenage Engineering suggest, then realistically you'll want to export these individually as the instrument has little in the way of proper 'mixing' tools onboard. The single output means that the only way to do so is to manually mute and record sections individually via audio. It's not necessarily a problem, particularly given the price, but multi-track output or export options would make this considerably easier.
