Corey Feldman didn't return for this movie as the voice of Donatello as according to Feldman, producers didn't want him to return because of his rehab stint at the time and was afraid of any backlash the film might get. Feldman did return for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3.

Fun Fact: Vanilla Ice is a huge TMNT fan and loves Ninja Rap. If you ask him to perform it, he will. You can find videos on RU-vid of him performing it recently (like within the last 5 years). Also, he flips and renovates houses and he calls his work crew "The Ninjaz." That naming convention coming, of course, from TMNT and Ninja Rap. The critique is fair. Parent's groups got involved in the 80s when the cartoon got popular and were worried about violence. So to get the movie made, they had to agree to make the turtles not actually use their weapons on people. That's why it was all slapstick.

I went through a phase as a young adult (and getting more into the film making process) rewatching this movie again and saying typical things like "yeah it's nothing compared to the first and not being a kid anymore, this kinda sucks". But in actuality, the more you think about it, TMNT2 is actually what most expected the first movie to be as it does have more of a kid friendly vibe like the original cartoon series, where the original film was more inspired by the OG comics as well as the cartoon show at the same time. Either ways, I can both acknowledge this movie's faults but still have a soft place in my heart for it and still appreciate some of the same costume and acting techniques like the first movie....TMNT3 however...the less said the better (though it has a cool soundtrack)

This one they were trying to be more “kid friendly” they didn’t want them to use their weapons a lot like they did in the first one. They also wanted it to be lighter than the first one. Ernie Reyes Jr was Donatello’s stunt double in the first one but wanted to display his skills more as himself. They recast April cause Judith Hoag was difficult to work with (according to the director) and publicly spoke out against the way the filming was done. Shredder wasn’t suppose to come back in this movie but the producers overrode the decision and wanted it to be more like the cartoon.

Unfortunately, this movie was forced to be more kid friendly than the first. Still a fun watch, but could have been better. The tone and dialogue was inspired by the 80's cartoon. The first film was comic inspired. EDIT: There was a story I heard behind the scenes from this movie. Can't remember if it was Mikey's actual actor or the guy doing the voice, but he was excited to go meet Vanilla Ice. He ran over and got stiff-armed by his bodyguards. Said bodyguards came very, very close to getting jumped by the Turtles actors. EDIT 2: The mutagen/ooze works really weird. Sometimes it mutates your clothes too, sometimes it doesn't.

the reason why a lot of fans of the 90's turtles didn't like the second movie was because the studio thought that the first film was a bit too dark and adult oriented. the violence and swearing was a bit over the top for them since they basically wanted to use the movie to sell toys. So in part 2 they didn't allow the turtles to use their signature ninja weapons in a fight anymore and they weren't allowed to curse. the cartoonish quality of the story was very noticeable as well. part 1 felt like the turtles were real, it was the perfect amount of realism with fantasy and having the turtles use their weapons was just great, so seeing them take all that away in part 2 made many hate the film. it got worse with part 3 and is what many believe killed the possibility for more movies. no one wanted to see it get even worse than it did. AND they were right as soon after they made that Saban tv series which we all never talk about.

"The original creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles weren't huge fans of the cartoon and they didn't want Be-bop and Rocksteady in the movie because they felt they were too one note and too silly." Hopefully, I remember who said what in this scene from the cartoon: *************** [As Shredder is about to apply the mutagen to Be-bop and Rocksteady.] Shredder- Just relax. Rocksteady- Uh...you sure this will give us those powers you promised us, man? Shredder- Absolutely! [Pause] Of course, you will find it difficult to get a date on Saturday night. ******************* How could they not be a fan of stuff like this?😜

Heh. Em kept trying to hear TGIF, and I kept trying to hear TCRI, the name of the company from the comics. It was actually a front for an extraterrestrial reasearch effort by an amoeboid species called 'utroms,' who rode around in the abdominal cavities of human-shaped robot suits.

So random fact, the Super Shredder was played by the Wrestler Kevin Nash. As for Ernie Reyes Jr. Has been making films since he was a child. He was even the young Prince in Conan and Red Sonja starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. He even was the guy that beat the crap out of the Rock in The Rundown, and the little guy that ran from Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan in Rush Hour 2 in the corporate building. It was also his face you could see for that brief moment in the first film when Donnie laughs at Leo and Ralph at the Farmhouse in the first film.

The "Electric Boogaloo" meme comes from the movie Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo from 1984. I kind of want to see you watch it for how dated those films are. They're not good In the comics and cartoon the company is TCRI (Techno Cosmic Research Institute) Oh no. A net. If only one of them had a sword-like cutting instrument on their back... The Ralph Nader joke was about the quality of the net. Mikey was saying that Nader put the safety regulations in place which made sure the netting wasn't likely to break and injure workers. Said safety groups are also why the Turtles weren't allowed to use their weapons in this movie, while Splinter using a arrow was considered perfectly safe since archery is taught to kids at summer camp. Nobody agrees with the reasoning Razar sounds like Bigfoot from A Goofy Movie because they're the same voice. That's Frank Welker. A prolific voice actor who has nearly 900 credits. Some of his most famous characters are Fred (Scooby-Doo), Dr. Claw/MAD cat (Inspector Gadget), Megatron, Slimer/Ray, Abu (Aladdin)... fun fact; He also did voice work for the first animated porno Vanilla Ice actually tried to start a fight with the actor for Michaelangelo when the actor walked up and tried to welcome him to the set. Vanilla Ice is a douchecanoe The voice of Donatello is Adam Carl. Corey Feldman didn't reprise his role That is not a baby snapping turtle The scene of the shells coming up in the water was supposed to be in the beginning of the first movie, but they felt holding off on seeing them for as long as possible was the better approach. They were correct as it's more impactful for the first film There was actually supposed to be a scene where the professor dies and you find out he's an Utrom (the brain aliens like Krang) "This is a bad movie" It's a masterpiece compared to what came after it. The 3rd film, the musical tour/videos (yes, there was a Christmas collection), The Next Mutation... Matthew is slightly incorrect. Keno was not the suit actor. He was a stunt actor so he wore one of the stunt suits. The character has never returned, but a fun little Easter egg in one of the IDW comics is a place called Keno's Pizza

Well it was a kids movie. Not everything should be critiqued the same as an Oscar caliber film. It is also a very important note to add that Jim Henson (who had no final approval on part 1) thought the original was too violent. That's also why the second is more toned down on the violence. This one is just for fun. At the time violence in films, games, and music was really a hot topic for parents groups as well as in congress. Be that as it may, this was a very very fun movie. I remember watching it in theaters with my family and it was even more fun for me than the original. The original was a bit more dark. This one just seemed a lot more fun. To this day I still think it is just as good as the original if not better. This is also the last project Jim Henson himself worked on (through his creature shop) before he died. For that reason alone the movie gets a solid 10 from me. His years of work and development in puppets and animatronics that helped to bring the Turtles to vivid life is better than any CGI to date. A true legend. I have yet to see CGI live up to it.
