My favourite and most played NES Game of all time. Great Graphics, sound, animation, two player Mode, iconic leveldesign. NES at his best, great arcade port. All my friends loved Turtles 2 The Arcade Game.
the best combo for a weekend was this game, smb 3 and castlevania junior (the way that akumojou dracula junior was called on to the cover of the box at our local video store)
Graphical limitations of the NES. Back then arcade games were 16 or 32-bit, while the NES was still limited to an 8-bit processor. That’s why the arcade ports didn’t look or sound nearly as good as the arcade originals at the time. The 16-bit SNES and Genesis were significantly better, but still weren’t perfect ports of arcade games (only the NeoGeo could pull that off because their home system and arcade system used the exact same hardware).
I used to really hate scene 6 with the spikes coming out of the ground, fighting those damn tigers & robot scorpions. Plus the shogun at the end with his floating head....still fun as hell thou..
I literally came here to say the same thing. I use to watch my older brother play this and that floating head, the way he looked scared the shit out of me as a kid. Also, the sound he made when he died
I know I shouldn't say this but I'm going to I wish they would make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Anthology for the PS4 and Xbox One based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle one two three and all the other ones they ever made
Still one of the best games for NES! I played this all the time when I was younger. It’s as close to the arcade as we could get! For the NES, it raised the bar for the system.
The game was on Xbox Live for a while. Licensed games tend to get delisted. Particularly older ones that have ads in them. And music by composers where the license has expired. In the end, it's more hoops that a developer doesn't like jumping through.
I've tried to beat the game many times when I was a kid but could never do it because I always lose at Shredder. I still do not know how to beat him today haha. Does the fake Shredder do no damage?
A bit late, but what I usually do is hit both Shredders until one of them loses his helmet. The first one to lose his helmet is ALWAYS the fake one, so you can then stop hitting him. Once fake Shredder's helmet is off, that one can no longer use that one-hit KO lightning attack (he will try but nothing will happen), which makes the fight much easier imo. Once the real Shredder also loses his helmet, you can then take out the fake one if you wish, as he cannot clone himself anymore, then you'll be able to face Shredder 1 vs 1 for the rest of the fight.
just keep jump kicking shredder without getting too far from him. if you take your distance, you'll be vulnerable to his death ray. if you notice one of the shredders making a quick retreat, he's going to use his death ray. keep jumping to get behind him
I tilt my hat. I've owned that game since ~1992. The times I've beaten the stone warriors and samurai on one life have been precious few, and I don't recall ever beating Krang on one life.
Krang is defenetively the hardest boss in the game. To anyone who want to make a no death playthrough of tmnt 2, practice the krang boss fight, if you can beat krang without losing a life, you will be able to beat the game without dying.
Krang has teh most hps of all bosses. it's recommended that you take him on slowly, taking your time. if you rush it, you'll most definitely lose a life
Games were hard I agree. But, when I think about it, if I lost a game as a kid I had no patience after awhile. So, having grown up myself from that era with these games, I realize as an adult who plays a casual game now and then for nostalgia that I have more patience to beat some of the games now that I may have struggled with as a kid. When your a kid you take these games serious lol.
The best beaten up on the Nintendo, plus it came with two extra stage not found in the arcade. The length and action of the game, coupled in with after school, sleep overs, pizza parties made my childhood awesome.

Decent game, but repetitive as hell. You only had 3 attack moves for the entire game. The NES just didn't have the power required to bring the arcade hit to the small screen.
This and Yo Noid! were the first really solid licensed games. I remember the red gunners hit like bosses, the spear guys never running out of those damn spears, and never knowing that the yellow guys even threw boomerangs until my brother was knocked into a manhole 😂
This is much much better than TMNT1 which involved both a birds eye view and a side view gameplay. Too bad it was only a single player game. But TMNT 2 and TMNT 3 sure rocks. It became a Double Dragon like game with a two player side view gameplay.
***** Tmnt was one of my favorite show and series as a kid and the music of all the tmnt games on the nes and the genesis are epic. These great Bgm make you all pump-up for action. The music and sound composers at Konami did a legendary job with all these classic titles.
God this brings back memories, I remember I always chose the character with the swords, and I would get to the beginning of the last level but I would always lose 😄
A side-scrolling beat'em-up, the NES game followed the arcade's successful formula of taking the arcade machine's cues from Technos Japan/Taito's Double Dragon gameplay, simplifying things a bit, and dressing things up with a very trendy theme and super-accessible style. This was a big success, and in many ways felt like sort of an apology for the first NES game (which I personally did enjoy...!) 2-player mode was the necessary icing on the cake, and it set the trend for a series of successful follow-up games as well.
My childhood right here thus was my 3rd nes game behind Mario and Zelda I remember being so ready for this game back in 89 I was running through toys R us do flying kicks everyone in the store was like little dude is hyped
Jump and attack same time with ninja on the boss with jump Golden axe is very important for survive :) Congratulation for beat the game without losing life :) Great beat'em up :)
ARGHHH. Must contain childhood..memories... LOL. I recently got my hands on the NES classic ( mini console ) . I'm missing a can of mountain dew and a bowl of cheese puffs and i'm good to go...
The only way i was able to beat this game is because it has a bug. If you go down at the bottom of the screen and press right and left at the same time, you trigger a glitch where the enemies don't attack you. I think i remember correctly
This truly was an amazing game for it's time. I still s.m.h. (in a good way of course) with how well done this port was on mere 8-bit hardware back then too.
the 1989 original version is better but the 1990 version is silent kind of cool but dont talk in this one only arcade version cause its more clear more sound more fun.
Hot take: The arcade version is one of the best games ever, but the nes version is a superior game to even that. Look at the enemy patterns and the way they attack.
