A behind the scenes look at the 90s TMNT movies. If you enjoy this video and love TMNT, check out this episode of The Neverland Podcast. neverlandpodcast.com/?p=280
Those suits were a WORK OF ART. I cant believe they didnt make the effort to preserve them. Now most of them are either lost or totally falling apart. What a WASTE DUDE!
It's nothing to be proud of. Learning an instrument, getting a raise in work, getting married are all examples of things to be proud of. Being a fan of a TV program not so much.
I know u all know for a fact that if cgi was something popular all movies would have them back then, and cgi movies aren't bad well at least not all of them I can understand some but when the right amount is used it looks great cgi is just more controllable, some great moives come from it
I wish they'd do a showing in the cinema as I never got to go. I had to wait for it to come out on video but at least I got the slime container with the glowing baby turtle in it.
Men in suits are always far better than CGI. Also, it appears the actors in the original movies, got treated better than the actors in the new movies. The new actors were treated like shit on stage, and were hardly ever even talked to by any of the production crew. And at the end of a day of shooting, the 4 turtle actors were just led out into the street outside the studio, and left to find their own way home... whereas everyone else were given private cars and personal drivers.
I don't understand the hatred people have for the second movie, while it wasn't as great as the original but I still enjoyed it, I do wish Judith Hoag would've returned as April O'Neil in the second movie (she was the best April IMO)
The third one was the one that flopped but it wasn't so bad that it should've stopped them from making another. I mean look at the new ones. The third still beats those any day.
i am a big tmnt fan and was a part of that era and loved these movies but the newer ones that came out i didnt even give it a chance it looked so horrible i didnt want it to be ruined for me
Indeed it was. Some parents take their kids to the movies and come out complaining that it was too much for kids to watch. Like no kidding. Did you bother checking the movie rating before buying the tickets? Ruined the second one. Don't get me started with the 3rd one. It was just hard to watch.
That’s just how the 90s and 80s were, parents not wanting to be parents and being congratulated for it by everything they see bad being changed. Now in days it’s the same but for politics!
Even bloody. Leonardo even slashes people with his katana and stabs Shredder, pretty far through the body, so far in fact you can see a good part of the blade at the other end, and then asks him to diselbowel himself with one of his katanas.
@@fekalistagrzybowory7619 Nah. A lot, but not all. CGI can be just as realistic, though. It's about how much time nad resources you put aside for it. Look at the younger Hugh Jackman they did a few years ago.
I am your 900th like 👍 if that means anything...lol...this video was very eye opening to turtle fans showing how the movie really came to life behind the scenes- thanks for posting this🙏
These two movies are better than every subsequent version that we’ve been presented with on the big screen since; and of the two, the 1990 film is the best. It got the balance between the dark realism of its comic book origins and the comedy we’ve come to love from the turtles just right. Even as a kid I found the sequel (Secret of the Ooze) to be far too silly.
I VIVIDLY RECALL MOM, DAD, LITTLE BROTHER and MYSELF SEEING IT IN THEATERS im THE 90's . WHEN WE LEFT, I WAS DOING KARATE WITH MY BROTHER. GOOD OL' DAYS.
What's up fam? Whoop whoop Ninja rap is the song that for me started on rap as a kid. So in a way I owe me being a juggalo to ninja turtles. Cowabunga!
I remember Watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that's 37 years since my date of birth And taught children to never give up fighting for your dreams. To become soldiers and defending our nation's for our country and that is worth fighting for that's what God has want us to be to be good Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles it will always be my favorite feature film and taught me great lesson of never giving up and build my own strength. I am happy for the things I've done in my life growing up so fast because this movie taught me great lesson never stop fighting. My favorite character is all the turtles if I would have picked one Raphael who's always hot headed. Just like me. This is why the evil and good is strong enough. And it keeps my emotions in check and strong I've been you for 37 years I love this movie one of my favorite children movies ever thank you inspiring the comic books and writing them and telling them on on the Silver Screen. Just like Master Splinter says cowabunga dudes. I fight with my heart I fight with my strength I keep my emotions happy Amen His
As a kid growing up in the mid 80's and 90's. When Ice was mixed with the Turtles. That was the best thing that could have happened to my 6-8 year old self. Later on I got to see Captain planet and his teenage crew did a skit in real life. (I don't think they where the real crew just impersonating them, but I can't remember now.)
I wonder why Jim Henson's Creature Shop couldn't work on the third film? I know Henson died a long time ago, but I believe the company is still in business. At least, at the time when "TMNT III" was released.
the 2nd film had good moments, but it all became very camp and comical, the dark more adult themed original has really stood the test of time, i can go back and watch it in my 30's and still enjoy it, the 2nd just seems quite cringy and over acted, shredder doesn't have that air of menace about him and the lack of weapons to keep the PG brigade happy was disappointing, the 2nd should have been a great follow on to the original but they sold out sadly
The first film was obviously alot darker than the second. I wonder if parents complained about the dark tone of the first which resulted in the sexond film being more light hearted and friendly.
Thanks for the HQ vid. Maybe should include "HQ" in the title. There is another version on youtube with a lot of views but very poor quality. This one is way better.
I agree the first one is barely violent. For its time for that demographic? Maybe. But pretty tame by today's standards. Still, it was nicely dark. I'd love to see them take that further, especially since the original comics were even darker, even more violent and even bloody.
I remember meeting Mike at the auto show in 1990. I thought that was the shit I had EVERYTHING tmnt I mean EVERYTHING!!! What a time I had growing up wish I could go back FOSHO
The second film was very big surprise after the first one was big success but the third had nothing but the fourth film as coming back to the original tmnt films
Who else also got the action figures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Keno, Professor Perry, Shredder, the Foot Soldiers, Tokka and Rahzar made to look like how they had appeared in the second film released from NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association)? When I had found out about it, I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity despite how much they cost. I hope they'll also release action figures of Splinter made to look like how he had appeared of the second film as well as an action figure of April O'Neil made in the likeness of Paige Turco. But most of all, I hope that NECA will also relase an action figure of Tatsu made in the likeness of Toshishiro Obata, if they ever get the rights to use his likeness.
In my opinion only the first one was good. The second one was decent, could of been good if it wasn't for that outcry from parents stating that the first one was too violent. It's rated PG for a reason, look at the rating and don't cry that it was too much for your kid.
I Love It When Leo Said Basically Basically Raph’s Got One Bad And Attitude And He Hits Leo On The Head And Donnie Pat Him And Said You Do Have Bad Temper Do You Do You Do We Love You Knuckle Head 😂😂😂😂😭😭
Michael Bay ruined my childhood when he made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 remake when I first heard they was going to remake I thought wow I will be assisting but when I seen it it wasn't that good I will stick with you riginal thank you

The first movie is still fantastic. I could forget the other two. Once again, the Studio listens to a small group of outspoken people and ruins a franchise. Calling the first one “too dark” is laughable. They did it with Burton’s Batman too. It’s a shame. Put up the money, get out of the way, and let the artists work.
my only issue with that sequel. well, my only gripe was that usurper imposter playing April O'Neil. other than that. the movie was fun. but that fake April really took me out of the whole film every time she popped up on the screen. Judith Hoag is and always will be the only April that matters.
So parents complained about how violent the first movie was. How ignorant where they. The cartoon was violent but fun. They where ninjas they use weapons to fight when need be.
Always wondered who did the actual fighting. I remember even as a kid i thought the fighting looked real. Now i know they most likely oriental fighting artists. Maybe a sort of kungfu?
That came down straight from creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. They really didn't like the cartoon and didn't want characters directly created for it showing up in the movies. Hence Tokka and Rahzar. It was originally supposed to be Bebop and Rocksteady. However, this only created the adverse effect of being just as silly as anything in the show without the cool recognition factor us fans would have gotten from seeing Henson Creature Shop versions of those iconic characters! I've still never REALLY forgiven them for that. Ha ha!
