Realistically, their meltdown (for everyone except Raph that is) is honestly understandable. They really haven't been in a fight before and while they are well trained and have sparred with each other and no doubt their father, actually being in the moment is still shaking. Of course, they still recovered quickly and handled it well but I still like how they just freaked out at the start of it.

It’s kind of like the Samurai after the warring states period (or another. I might be getting things wrong). They trained for combat, but for centuries they had none. The only way to use their skills was to become Ronin, who were often just bandits.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE SCENE! The crazy amount of characterization in it. It's so hectic and the turtles are giving it their all nonstop, thinking quick on the spot. The flashes of delight at their own genius, as they find their instincts from training are actually good enough to carry them through. I love their little wins. The gang members are also authentically human, the fight never feels like it's in anyone's control. Everyone's just improvising like crazy and having realistic reactions & fumbles. Leo getting distracted micromanaging is so endearing. This is where they find their confidence for that ballsy attitude in the montage later. It's so rewarding on every level! I was whisper-screaming "FUCK EM UP!!" in the theater.

I grew up with TMNT in the 90s and I really enjoyed this movie. I’m glad they modernized it and actually made them act like teenagers. I can enjoy with my sons now

In my opinion, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem (2023) is hands down, my most favourite non-Disney movie right after the Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (2023), and Nimona (2023)! Eat your hearts out, Ember Lumen and Wade Ripple!

Mine is still Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, but yeah, it infuriates me that Elemental has a higher RT audience score than TMNT! Mutant Mayhem was a lot more engaging and had more likable characters and dialogue imo. It deserves more love!

I really love how this fight scene shows off the both unique fighting styles and personalities of each turtle. All the while showing their panicked confusion because of their inexperience of being in an actual fight. Leo’s is a combination of both striking, dodging and grappling which reflects his discipline and strategic mind in knowing what move is most useful for each encounter. Donnie highlights his intelligence by using his environment alot. Like using the little cart-thingy (I dont what it’s called) to knock down the opponent and using the wrench to save Raph’s shell from a shotgun-shell. And when he used his big stick to steer the car away from Mikey. Mikey is the most energetic but also empathetic of the brothers, which he shows through him mainly relying on dodging and any damage was either a sudden reaction or not on purpose, because he really didn’t want to hurt anybody. And then there’s Raph who just psychotically lunges himself himself at everyone and just beats them into submission. This guy really has some serious bloodlust. Fun fact: He’s my favourite character in this movie 😂

Something funny I noticed on a second watch is during the sequence, when the turtles are all busting down doors, and when it’s Raphs turn, he just stands there… MENACINGLY.

I will say this: after watching this film many times, it has become a quotable movie. From the one-liners to the amazing fight sequences to the timely themes, Mutant Mayhem is a cinematic masterpiece. As a diehard TMNT fan, this film is an immaculate tribute to not only Gen Z but people who grew up with the turtles. For those who haven't watched MM yet, please do. You won’t be disappointed in the slightest. Cowabunga!!!!!!
