I played this with my uncles all time. It took us forever to beat this game cause all the enemies just kept coming at us. But I like the SNES version just good as the Genesis version.
wave201988 Coming from a SEGA fan, TMNT IV is superior in every way to Hyperstone Heist. HH is a very good game. Its basically Konami throwing a bone to SEGA fans giving them their first Turtles game.
Tornado1994 Coming from a Sega and Nintendo fan. I feel like they both have their good qualities and both deserve to be in a collection. I do agree that Turtles in time is a little better in some ways but Hyperstone Heist definitely holds its self up well. Especially in the music and animation department.
Still remember this game - the funny thing is that I was confident that I never went past scene 4 - those bosses were extremely difficult... However, I clearly remember scene 5 which is... kinda weird
Konami back in the day meant great graphics, music, sound and quality in a game... But as usual the SNES graphics were better, but this game I would say is the best turtles platformer outside the arcade...
It's more like a Spin-off of Turtles in Time, This had Master Tatsu from the movies, and some movie style tie ins. Those exploding bosses that you fought back to back was a trip.
I was never Sega fan so I never got around to playing Hyperstone Heist. I got back in to retro video games a few years ago and I still play the TMNT Arcade game (1989), Turtles in Time and The Manhattan Project on a fairly regular basis. They're pretty basic and repetitive, but I've never really gotten bored by them lol I think it might be time to pick up a Sega Genesis and finally try Hyperstone Heist, eventhough it appears to be very similar to the three NES games I just mentioned
is good as Turtles in time, but is hard AF. Lot of extra foot soldiers. Is almost unbearable with 2 players in hard mode. Music is a little better, but animations are simpler because space limitations
NUTnCASE Was he your favorite or did you pick him bc of his weapon??? My buddy picked him because his staff seemed to have a longer reach, I picked Raphael bc he was my favorite in the movie and cartoons.
I love Hyperstone Heist. Never understood when people said it was a "clone" or "ripoff" of Turtles in Time. How can it be a "ripoff" if they're both made by Konami??? It has remixed/combined stages and asset's from BOTH the '89 Arcade game and Turtles in Time, as well as exclusive new sections to coincide with it's new story. It's an amalgamation of familiar and new. I remember I had played T.I.T 1st when I was younger (it was released before Hyperstone Heist) and then when Hyperstone Heist was released I had gotten it for my birthday. Even back then when playing Hyperstone Heist I distinctly remember saying to myself "Wow this is pretty cool!" "It's a mix of the '89 Arcade game and T.I.T but NOT EXACTLY the same as them". The graphics are darker then T.I.T but the turtles (as well as every other character) look sharper and smoother due to them having more frames of animation. The enemy A.I. is also a bit tougher which I like. People also complain about it only having 5 stages while T.I.T has 10, but the stages in Hyperstone Heist are much longer with each stage having 3 sections each. When comparing the 2 games they both take just about the same amount of time to finish. Tatsu being an exclusive boss is pretty kick ass as well. My ONLY complaints with Hyperstone Heist are that they definitely could have thrown in more bosses instead of repeating the previously defeated bosses in the Gauntlet stage. For the Gauntlet stage they could have thrown in a number of villains such as Bebop (still baffles me as to why he was omitted), Tokka, Rahzar, Karai or even Groundchuck, Dirtbag, Wingnut and Screwloose would have been awesome. Also the Gauntlet stage and stage 2-3 (the cave where you fight Rocksteady) are exactly the same just a different color background. Other then those 2 things, I love it just about the same as Turtles in Time.
I got my sega in 1994 I was 7 yrs old. It came with Sonic 2. And man im greatful for my mom for buying me a system because I have so many good memories and plenty of hours spent playing this game. For sega the games I had the most fun playing were of course this ninja turtles game then it was Toejam and Earl panic on funkatron Sonic 2 Ren and stimpy (stimpys invention) Contra Hard Corps Aladdin Street fighter 1 and 2 Mortal kombat 1 and 2 NBA Jam Earthworm Jim For Nes Super mario Duck hunt Super Mario 3 Ninja turtles Burger time Super Nintendo Super Mario world Donkey Kong country Mega man Super ghouls and ghost Kirby
I had both this video game, and TMNT IV: Turtles in Time. This one deifnitely made less sense...never understood why the bosses exploded. At least the boss demises in the SNES game were more creative and gounded in biology.
The super nes had more stages and bosses, but the genesis had better graphics, music and game play speed. I loved both and used to have both version back in the day. I recently got one of those super nes clones from gamerztek which works great and have Turtles in time. The genesis one cost an arm and a leg for some reason.
I'm 33 now remember the first time I played this game, I was with my dad and my brother in a videogame store, me and my brother played this game until I got hit by the blue car I remember I got mad and almost cry because it was my last live.
I never understood the reason for making this instead of a Genesis Turtles in Time. I'm not really complaining, I just don't see the reason behind it. Either way, the Arcade, SNES, and Genesis games were all good regardless. Heist was Turtles in Time gameplay with different levels. What's not to like? The only thing I dislike about the Arcade Turtles in Time, is that the main one you see is the 4-player one, and when emulating, you can't easily pick a character, you're stuck with the Player 1 character unless you want to change your controls all around for a different player. The console versions (and even the 2-player Arcade version) lets you choose a character.
+TXF Most likely due to the sheer amount of graphic assets. The Genesis didn't have as good hardware when it came to size of sprites, colours etc. They most likely had to cut back and name it something else. That's my theory because there are no new graphical assets, they are all directly from Turtles In Time, just a lot less of it. This is essentially the Genesis port of Turtles in Time.
That's it I've had enough of my brother's calling me names, hitting me and smacking me all around the place, and ridiculing me, this time I'll fight Shredder on my own! And this is when Mikey Let's It Go, the pain never bothered him anyway. Go Mikey! ✊😎🐢💛
Turtles in time is so much better. the fact that it's easier to throw and slam enemies makes it move faster (on genesis you just keep hitting them 1 hit at a time. snes you slam them all around and move on) more bosses, better story with the cool mode 7 time traveling, far more voice acting, etc. hyperstone heist is good, but turles in time is great
I wouldn't say it had "better" graphics. Just..different graphics. The SNES one more closely resembled the Arcade's cartoon-style graphics. The Genesis one looks more like it's trying to be a mix between cartoon and movie. I think both are pretty close in quality.
txfnero Hyperstone Heist is a variation between TMNT IV and TMNT III. It's basically a Mega Drive hack of Turtles in Time and Manhattan Project. It blows my mind that Konami never ported TMNT III to the Genesis.
I wouldn't have minded fighting Tatsu Twice as much if they had just Used like Rat king at the End of the first Three levels and Bebop at the end of the second Three levels. Facing leatherhead and Rocksteady Twice felt Lazy when there are so many other Ninja Turtle Bosses they could have used like, Rat King, Bebop, Slash, Metalhead or Tokka and Razar.
There are these things on youtube called "video descriptions". They are really great and sometimes contain wondrous amounts of knowledge. Maybe you should try to read some of them sometime. Thanks for watching.
Might be wrong on this, but I think this is the only Ninja Turtles video game that has Tatsu (From the movies) in it. I've played the others, he's not in them. But I could be wrong.
Buy a reproduction cart. No one uses original carts to play anymore, they should be behind glass/on display and never played. The purpose of repro carts is for play and to help preserve originals.
- Said no body... Not even the Sega owners!... Turtles in time is way better... No bosses repeated, more and better levels, better music... Both are great, but turtles in time is way better
Weren't these all the same levels that Turtles in Time had? Or were they just made similar with differences? Been so long since I played the SNES version.
+Pimphand Gamester. Same and Different. Half the amount of levels than Turtles in Time, but MUCH longer. Konami modified existing Turtles in Time levels into "exclusive" Hyperstone Levels.... like the Pirate Ship into the Ghost Ship. Altho the Hideout is entirely original.
Excellent ;-) Voici ma partie (avec intro et conclusion face caméra ainsi que mes explications durant mon game play^^)ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GMvOYQ3ztm8.html
What disappointed me about this game, as with most games on the Genesis, was the music was essentially the same. You can always tell when music is from the Genesis. It just has that unique quality to it. I liked this game, but I honestly liked the SNES version better.
Definitely a shame about the music though. The poor Genesis just couldn't handle that kind of awesomeness,It’s still a good game but could have been so much better.
What are u talking about I think the music is waayy better on the Genesis vs the super nes turtles listen to the bass on hyperstone heist fucking awesome
I used to play this with my siblings when I was 12 yrs old Good old times when we just wanna wake up early and start playing it I remember we kept spamming that move 8:54 lol
