Teeny is such a gorgeous baby!!!!!! She looks so soft and fluffy and his face melts me like butter. I know she hasn’t grown well but never realized she was still that small!!!!
Arrow, thank you for your honest portrayal of our not so distant cousins. My grandsons (10 and 13 now) and I have been watching your videos since Dopey was a wee little clumsy thing. Granted I had to bribe the grandkids (hahaha) in the beginning but now they look forward to new ones. You sir have brought me closer to my boys and your furry friends. Fiirst I started watching you channel because I was looking to purchase a baby as a pet. That all changed as I watched mother's grieve over there deceased little ones. I knew pretty quickly as a mother and grandmother the pain they felt, the love they have for the babies is amazing. Reddy was a great teacher for me, she is the best of the best as a mom. Each mother is as different in there world as in ours, some good, some not so good. Thank you again for passing your Love of the troops to us. You are a wonderful teacher.
She is such a teeny weeny baby. She is precious. I do hope she makes it. Tina has a bad habit of taking food from the pouches of her babies. I think her mum must have done it to her and so she dose it to her kids. She did it to tiny. I hope she doesn’t but my mind is saying she will but my heart is saying she won’t. She is a good mum except for that. But I am routing for teeny and she only has to hang on a bit longer. Thank you for sharing another beautiful video. Keep safe and well my friend ❤️❤️
Poor little Teeny, I wish the best for her .. but I’m glad Tina’s being such a good mom. Even if Teeny dies, she’ll go surrounded by love and comfort with a teat in mouth. That’s all a baby monkey wants 😢

I love when Skinny is given her Good Mom status because she really is. Saddens me that she was sterilized but I'm glad at least Skimpy is female so she won't lose her when she grows.

That's twice I've seen skinny go after Tina. I used to like skinny but I don't anymore. Tina has a baby to feed. Please don't feed skinny until you feed Tina.
Because of the hierarchy, if he wants to feed a lower rank like Tina he has to feed all higher ranking nearby or she will get nothing. There are no exceptions to this rule and it is strictly enforced by the troop. So the only way to feed Tina and Teeny is to also feed Skinny. Skinny and Martha are very possessive about Arroz. Once they see him they stick close by. I don't really blame any of the rhesus for their self-serving behavior, they are all just trying to survive, Frankly I'm surprised at how often Arroz is able to help the vulnerable babies given how complicated it can be.
watching these back, really makes me think of how far teeny has really come. she is so gorgeous now, doesnt need mom, and def very smart. everything she suffered at the hands of her mother she is making it all back and more. i think she even eats much more then her own mother does. she def gets all the goodies now
01:21 I wonder if mom’s milk is lacking in the growth hormone because both Tiny & Teeny have not met growth milestones? 05:00 Teeny can not afford to be active, she must conserve energy. Mom’s breast milk actual may be giving her signals to reserve her energy level. A lack of protein in mom’s diet effects the growth hormones in mom’s breast milk. When feeding the monkeys, holding back the protein foods (black beans, lentils, quinoa, whole grain oats, guava & nuts) for the lower-ranking monkeys will help them while not breaking ranking protocols. I mention this because a diet higher in protein may help Tina produce better milk for teeny. Also the smaller grains could mean more pieces for teeny to forage with higher nutritional rewards. 12:40 Improving the protein levels in Tina’s diet hopefully would improve the growth hormone in her breast milk. This may translate to Teeny. (Maybe not considering her age, but I think it is worth the effort.)
This question is for anybody that knows: Teeny seems to be foraging quite a bit in gravel as opposed to grass/trees. What exactly is she scoring out of this gravel? She seems to get quite a bit but it’s impossible to see just what it is. Also, I love it how she puts it in her mouth then spits it back to her hand and looks at it then eats it again! 😎
Arroz, have u noticed Tina seems to always trying to get something out of her hand??? It's as though she has a deep rooted splinter of sorts. I had a rather large one in my foot as a child & due to all of it not being removed I still have an irritation. Could that be what she keeps picking her hand for???
Teeny reminds me of the poor mistreated HaHa. She was kept by a horrid woman that purposefully starved her to keep her small, what she called a "pocket monkey."
Poor little girl, she obviously has the will to live, yet Tina's mothering is counterproductive....I think Tiny survibed because he was able to fend for himself. By Tina keeping Teeny on her stomach she is unable to forage, which i am sure Teeny would would have a better chance at surviving. Thank you Arroz for giving us a window into their world! My bucket list is to make it to Hong Kong and watch our gang even from a distance! I have such a love for all animals but there is something special about not only Rhesus but also these troops. Lets just hope Teeny will turn out just like her big brother Tiny. He was SO Tiny skin and bones even though Arroz would sneak many goodies to Tina. Sure, she is lower ranking and less goodies than some but Tina is quite healthy IMO. I could be wrong but I swear not only due to the lack of food /calorie intake with some mums who dont produce enough milk but also, IMO some mums simply produce less milk in general (regardless of food intake/more calories).. Again, I could be wrong but I'm only mentioning due to common sense. Some human mums naturally lactate much less than others just as some mums can't lactate at all like we see in some monkeys. I believe Tina naturally has tiny babies. With Tiny, she wouldn't allow him to stay at the milk bar all day pasta pulls months old. Poor guy. He was a fighter though, he was spending his days as a younger baby scavenging for any crumbs he would/could find meanwhile while other babies were off playing in trees with their peers with their belly's full. He had to learn quick. Then of course it was heart breaking to see after he finally had his pouches filled with some food aka morals, his mum and aunt were constantly stealing the food from his pouches. He could never gain any weight. Finally, he got smarter and tougher to run away while he would forage. I really hope Teeny learns like Tiny did. I've missed the last few weeks of videos due to my own hectic working schedule so I need to catch up. I really hope we don't ever see Tiny forcefully picking food from his own siblings pouches just like it was done to him since that's what I believe happened with Tina (and her younger sister or If that's her eldest daughter idk) by her own mother and that's why she does it today. Is it just female thing? I guess time will tell. I hope Teeny fights and forages to build some muscle and put weight on her skin and bones! Poor girl..

Look, it's not that Teeny is already tired. Babies of her age are like little nuclear reactors barely keeping it from boiling, but not here. I'm just sad thinking about it but clearly she's not getting anywhere enough calories to meet the core development's high resource demand to continue growing so you can be damn sure her body won't be spending it on anything essential or not life threatening, hence the chronic lethargic mood and slowness. btw if her calorie count is not enough to even keep her awake for the whole day imagine all the vitamins and microelements missing, though considering how she's trying to eat anything chewable she can keep down it may not be that bad.
She is know bigger than a new born. Yet she is 5months. That's worrisome. I've seen pigtales have premature babies. An they seem to hold on to them alot longer .almost like human women when we have premature. They stay in hospital. Obviously this isnt a hospital an she isnt getting nutrients she desperately needs to to survive. So basically she is dieing slowly. Mayne u could buy baby vitamins the fruit ones. An that would help alot.
I think that’s “tiny “the first born boy?,,.. he had to forge for himself she was better with Tiny which was still not good. But horrible with TEENY.. the little girl, who totally disliked her was forging at like almost as soon as she can walk. She mostly forged Tina refused and seldomly gave her milk.
I don't know if this is the cause but I am a wildlife rehabber and I do opossum babies a lot of rehabbers have had babies that we call failure to thrive there are several causes for this one is that the baby is not able to absorb the nutrition from the milk or the milk is a bad quality. There's just something in their little bodies that does not let them grow and become healthy I have had three they survived for several months but did not seem to grow or fill out I hope this is not the cause
Always liked skinny because she cared so well for skimpy, but she will assert her rank on any monkey lower than her that can be found. There aren’t many but she always goes after the few that are, only thing I’ve never liked about her. She can be extremely nasty to the few lower ranking monkeys.
I didn't see your comment before I replied above and agree with you. I like Skinny for the same reason as you but she is ruthless. Good quality as a mother, not so good as a troop mate!
Teeny appears lethargic at times and her little ears are pale. She is so small. It looks like momma Tina is more of a pacifier than a milk supply. Yet baby soldiers on, eventually mustering up the energy to pick through the undergrowth. Precious lamb. :')
@@charleshoward5849 I think they're the two lowest ranking in the troop. Skinny might slightly outrank Tina, or she has a more aggressive personality, and/or Tina has to be more cautious since she has a baby to protect. Regardless, in practical terms I think Skinny outranks Tina given their behavior. I remember some older videos where Skinny was always getting hurt for awhile, when Skimpy was a baby. She'd get in skirmishes with others or get attacked (at least once by a male if I I remember correctly). So I think she's always been pretty aggressive especially considering her low status.
Teener is a much better mom towards Teeny then she was with Tiny and her late son Tibbon. I assume this is because Tiny is a female. She was weaning Tibbon we seen that and definitely weened Tiny. But we dont see that very much with Teeny at all, I have only seen one time myself based on your videos that she pushed Teeny away from the milk bar. She may be lacking milk but if she treated Teeny the way she treated Tiny and Tibbon, then Teeny would be long gone.
She knows her baby isn’t thriving and growing. At 5 months Teeny should be showing a great deal of independence. Playing with the other infants or siblings and foraging for solid food. The fact that she continues to cuddle her like a newborn and allows her to suckle pretty much at will says she probably knows things aren’t right. She lost a baby last year under similar circumstances.
wilsob15 I saw Tina take food out of Tiny’s mouth more than once. I have also seen Tiny rob Teeny a while back. It’s a shame but when it comes to food this is not an atypical behavior for macaques.
Jackie Watkins I’m not. I really, really hope she makes it but I am just not happy to see her failing to grow week after week and how she seems so quiet and frail. This was filmed more than 2.5 months ago in mid December and the worst part of the winter is still in front of them.
