well, I was nineteen the first time I heard this song and now I'm 28. I begin to feel nostalgic and I'm not that old.

This song perfectly captures the horror of losing the love of your life and being completely unprepared and unable to deal with it. It's like drowning in the open air. Eight years on and I still think about her every day and every time I hear Nineteen. T&S understand the human condition like few other bands.

I remember watching this video when I first realised I liked girls, I must've been around 12 at that time. Now I'm engaged to the most amazing woman in this world and I couldn't be any happier. This song means a lot to me and for my journey in figuring myself out

I remember hearing this song fifteen years ago, and glamorizing how nice nineteen would be. Turns out nineteen was probably the lowest point in my life to date, I don't think I've ever hurt as much as I did then. I'm 29 now, and I realize I was hearing the song all wrong. It was never about an optimistic age, but the bitter feelings of dealing with loss you can't control- just doing your best to live through them.

One of my best friends recorded this song for me at a concert when she was alive and it was one of the last things she ever sent me on Facebook and that was a few years back. Still fucks me up to this day. My eyes water when I hear this song and I think of her and our memories.

so beautiful. i rediscovered this song and I remembered why Tegan and Sara are so beautiful. The raspy sound Tegan has in her voice is mind blowing then add Sara's light and airy harmonies and this song, unforgettable.

I found this song at a really rough time in my life. I had my daughter really young, and at the time she went to live with a family member. And this song resonated so much for me in the sense of my bond to her before I knew her and when she went away. RU-vid says I've watched this before but it must have been a loooong time ago. Unfortunately I did not leave a comment for myself to ridicule half a lifetime later! This is a magnificent performance of a really nice song from a legendary record. I always love Sara's backing vocals that they do live (on the studio albums, they each normally do all vocals on a song). Love this! I just learned from the Wikipedia that apparently, Ted Gowans (seated on the left), is the only *true member* of the band who is a guitarist, and the only musician who performed on studio albums in addition to the live shows-with the exceptions of Tegan and Sara themselves of course. Ted departed in 2014, but during his 10 years was an absolutely stellar component of the band. We miss Ted. The Spinner link in the description no longer works (unsurprising), but the site itself appears to no longer exist. Yahoo seems to be sitting on the domain. At least the other 2 videos are still here, but suffering from the old RU-vid 240p degradation thing they do. Now in another 10 years I can come back and laugh at this ridiculous comment I wrote.

We're not together anymore. But listening to songs like this... no matter how long it's been. What we've gone through. Even now. Still makes me think about him. The only person i ever got too love... and still do. After some short time we've contacted each other again and have planned to hang out soon. It makes me thoughtfully and kind of melancholic, cause I am nineteen and I feel like I have already lived my life.. it's so strange what happens to you if you growing up inside..
