The Sa'dabad palace Complex (Persian: مجموعه سعدآباد - Majmue ye Sa’dābād) is a 300 hectare complex built by the Qajar and Pahlavi monarchs, located in Shemiran, Greater Tehran, Iran. Today, the official residence of the President of Iran is located adjacent to the complex.
History
The complex was initially built and inhabited by Qajar dynasty of monarchs in the 19th century. After extensive expansions, Reza Shah of the Pahlavi Dynasty resided there in the 1920s. His son, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, moved there in the 1970s. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter stayed in the palace during a visit to Pahlavi Iran to guarantee U.S. support for the regime.After the 1979 Revolution, the complex became a public museum.
The complex includes more than 180 hectares of natural forest, streets, qanats, galleries, mansions/palaces and museums.
Present use
Large parts of the complex are museums, which are accessible to visitors. Other parts are currently used by the Office of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The complex is operated by the Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran which is responsible for most of the artifacts, locations, and cultural aspects of the country.

مجموعه فرهنگی - تاریخی سعدآباد مجموعه‌ای ۳۰۰ هکتاری در شمال تهران است که توسط شاهان در دوره قاجار و دوره پهلوی، بنیادگذاری شده و گسترش یافت. این مجموعهٔ تاریخی دارای حدود ۱۸۰ هکتار جنگل طبیعی، به همراه چندین کاخ، عمارت، موزه و ساختمان‌های متعدد، قنات‌ها، باغ‌ها، گلخانه‌ها و خیابان است. این مجموعه در ناحیه شمیران، در مجاورت دربند و در دامنه رشته‌کوه البرز ساخته شده‌است.
این مجموعه از شمال با کوه‌های البرز، از شرق با گلاب‌دره، از غرب با ولنجک و از جنوب با تجریش همسایگی دارد. رودخانه جعفرآباد، از وسط محوطه کاخ می‌گذرد. میانگین دمای سالانه این منطقه ۱۲٫۹ درجه سانتیگراد برآورد شده‌است و در ارتفاع ۱۶۵۰ تا ۱۸۰۰متری از سطح دریا قرار دارد. در دوران رضاشاه، سراسر باغ سعدآباد از رودخانه دربند مشروب می‌شد ولی در دوران محمدرضاشاه برای دادن آب رودخانه در نیمی از شبانه‌روز به مردم و کافی نبودن این میزان آب رودخانه برای آبیاری سراسر مجموعه از دوازده رشته قنات قدیمی و نوبنیاد استفاده شد.
تاریخچه
مجموعه سعدآباد چهار دوره تاریخی قاجاریه، پهلوی اول و پهلوی دوم و پس از انقلاب ایران را سپری کرده‌است. سعدآباد در دوره قاجار ساخته شد و سکونت‌گاه تابستانی (ییلاق) شاهان این سلسله بود. پس از کودتای۱۲۹۹ و تصرف آن توسط خاندان پهلوی ساختمان‌های متعددی در آن ساخته شدند که بالغ بر ۱۸ کاخ در ابعاد مختلف می‌شوند. هر یک از ساختمان‌ها محل سکونت یکی از افراد خاندان پهلوی بوده‌است. محمدرضا پهلوی نیز در دهه۱۳۵۰ در این مکان سکنی گزید که در اوایل سلطنت او ساخت آن به پایان رسید. جدیدترین کاخ این مجموعه نیز کاخ لیلا پهلوی است که متعلق به کوچکترین دختر محمدرضا پهلوی بود و امروزه، موزه آبکار نام گرفته‌است.
