Great info. I don’t run Tekin, but this information crosses over to the other big brand. I feel it’s one of the most important tuning tool in E buggy/truggy racing that some people overlook.
That’s how it’s done! Appreciate the in detail setup shared, can’t wait to get back to the track and give some of these tips a go! Thanks again, keep em coming👍🏼
Hi Adam , love the video , I also own 2 of these Tekin RX8 GEN3 and love them I was wondering if you have tested the new 291 firmware in your RX8 and if you noticed a difference to firmware 276
FYI when he sais throttle timing 5, it's profile 1, not profile 5. On hotwire at least on mine throttle profile 1 is 5 degrees timing. It can be confusing if someone doesn't realize those are throttle profile's displayed not degrees of timing. I am going to try a few of your settings. I am a recent convert from hobby wing and couldn't be happier. I kept melting battery terminals and runnig super hot with HW, I run 20-30 cooler with the rx8 and my batteries barely get warm. Cheers
Hi Adam! You didn't mention the 'throttle profile / curves' settings... I believe the default setting of '3' is linear, is that what you would generally leave it at?
Wait, you said 1900kv for the buggy and 2200kv for the truggy? Just when I thought I had it figured out, you throw a wrench in it. Wouldn't you want the opposite? Wouldn't you want to give the truggy more torque (1900kv)? and the buggy more rpm (2200kv)? This kv thing is really getting on my nerves lol. I've got a Talion with a 2050kv 4268 in it and would like to upgrade to something that can handle the heat of a 5s and 6s better, has more control, and has at least the same if not more power. I need to keep the diameter of 42 but can increase length to a 74mm. The question has been...do I go down in kv 1900 or up 2200? I was about to go with 1900 until you said that.
yup i seen ur setup a while back and notice no fan, i have the same setup and everyone was giving me their opinion about not having fan mainly cause im the new guy lol. F yall AD does it lol....
Ok Mr. Drake, hear me out on this. What if you get O.S. to revamp the og v-spec. A short-stroke 3 port with a silicone ramped and balanced crankshaft. The v-spec is already such a strong engine and O.S. could take the design they have and improve it with newer materials and design. The crankshaft from the v-spec was very unique in my opinion and it would be cool to see them keep that same design but put one or two tungsten slugs, put a silicone ramp in it, and dlc coat it. It would be cool even with the regular crank design.
Hey Adam, I’ve got an engine that is in storage right now because it’s got what I believe to be a warped sleeve of some sort. It pinches super tight just above the exhaust port but the engine has 3-4 gallons on it. I think the problem is that I forgot to put the piston at bottom dead center. Is there a fix to this or should I just get another sleeve for it
@@AdamDrake I’ll consider it. I’ve heard of people having the same issue and they fixed it by running their engine super super rich and kept a heat gun on it. Apparently it gets the sleeve to expand enough to where it won’t pinch so hard. They just do that until the pinch goes back to normal
