As a Kazuya player. You really have to look at how your opponent reacts when you wavedash while they're knocked down. That way you know if you'll cancel your wavedash into a block or just wavedash till they get up and have them twitch to your wavedash.

People can also guard ff+3 on reaction, it has a very distinct animation which makes it rather easy to do, bit harder online. You can beat this by doing ff+4, f+4, u/f+3, twin pistons.

ff+4 is rather slow as well. I loved doing f+3 from wavedash in previous games since it was so easy to execute. Probably one of the things that that lowered him on tier-list in T7.

I'm confident I'll never reach the skill level where this will be applicable. Wavedash or EWGF during a match....I always choke.

kyuzo85 I used to be the same. Now I can do PEWGFs into a combo but I still suck at wavedashes. I can wavedash but I still don’t know what to do later so I basically get launched into a full combo.

Accept that you will fail the many MANY times in the beginning. Do it in a real match regardless, you have to beat the fear out of your system + the expectation you've set for yourself that it will come out. Only once you truly familiarize yourself with the situation of doing it in a game against a thinking opponent can you gain the confidence to start executing it correctly, with proper spacing and have it connect too. You can do it, you just need to go through the motion regardless of failure or success.

@Carter it’s funny that you ask. I don’t play Kazuya but I main Armor King and have gotten a lot more comfortable with wavedash. In ranks I’ve only gotten to Seiryu tho…

Also i think fuzzy guarding with a low parry is better against opponents when they or you have low to no HP. This will give you a bigger reward when you defend against like a d4 or something a lot safer.

I would say a tighter example of a fuzzy guard is Geese's hcb+3 vs hcb+4; you tap d/b as soon as the first hit connects to guard.

High/low mixups is a fundamental of other Namco fighters as well, e.g. Soul Calibure. This is where knowing the frame data can make all the difference. I scoff at any who would dismiss the importance of studying the frame data.

Thank you tmm i ran into a jin player earlier and I couldnt understand how he could always figure out my crouch dash hell sweep/ ff 3. He blocked it like 75% of the time. I couldn't get how he knew it everytime. But You explained it perfectly thank you tmm.
