I'm italian. think if instead of the exorcist Claudio Serafino they had inserted a more anonymous and caricatured character, you would have seen in the trailer the usual moustached, dark-skinned, short and unkempt Italian, while the stage would have recalled, as usual, the typical environments of southern Italy between pasta, pizza and Neapolitan music. :/
@@lunisparks9056 I don't doubt that the Japanese developers of the game try to represent in detail the culture of origin of the characters but I would be careful for them not to be excessive with certain representations. 😅 by the way, I don't know Peru that well, but are the girls there beautiful just like Azucena? 😍
For those who wonder why coffee, Peru won 1st, 2nd and 4th place as the best international coffee, which is why it is classified as having the best coffee in the world; This award is recent, so few of us are aware of it. I hope, like my Peru, to see other countries integrated into this saga that marked my childhood.
As a Peruvian who played tekken since the first game on PlayStation one and all the way to 7, I would never imagine a Peruvian fighter will come out from tekken. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
there are other fighters from peru but from another company like SNK in 1995 neogeo had rosa from kisuna encounter.. and TAKARA from 1997 battle toshiden 3 had athaua
I love the characterization. Something so small such as coffee vs tea already sets up an immediate, and less serious rivalry between her and Lillie. They aren't at eachother's necks like the Mishima's, but some would argue food is more important than destiny.
@@Odhil95The character motive sucks though, but she was a discarded character from Tekken 1 and now since they are running out of ideas to make fighters, they have no choice but to use their throw away reject characters that never made the cut prior in the series
wow i didn't know that the name has a much beautiful meaning since here in the Philippines, Azucena means "dog meat" or "a dish with dog meat". "Aso(Dog)" + Cena.
Same for Portuguese where it's graphed Açucena. Being associated with chastity and the Virgin Mary in Catholicism, it's a common sight in religious grounds. I've only ever heard in lyrics tho. Lili is much more common.
Azucena here in the Philippines (Asosena) takes a different meaning. It's a cooked dog (Aso=Dog, -sena Spanish suffix) usually eaten by drunkards in remote areas of the country. It's a taboo so only a few lunatics eat and cook dogs here. Glad to see it has a beautiful meaning in most Spanish speaking country.
I sorta feel like the opposite - autoparrying highs/lows while in heat mode is going to be very common knowledge even at intermediate level. At low level though she's going to seem invincible, because she can perpetually be immune to them.
The music man... the music. I used to had a friend from Peru, sadly she passed away from cancer. The music, the clothes, the Alpacas, big mountains in behind like Machu-Pichu really brought me to tears for the 3rd time already. Saludos desde Argentina hermanos Peruanos. (Wow TY for the kind words. Tekken community is fire ngl. Still have hope for humanity).
ORGULLOSO DE TENER A MACCHU PICCHU-LA COMO UNA DE LAS 8 MARAVILLAS DEL MUNDO,DE SER MACACO,Y DE TEKKEN Y HARADA-SENSEI POR ESTA OBRA MAESTRA DE AQUÍ,GRACIAS BANDAI NAMCO,OJALA PUDIERA INVITARLOS A UNA TAZOTA DE BEBIDA DE GRANOS DE LLAMAS XD
@@thesamuraiman It's likely a stance with a built-in counter function against certain types of moves, similar to how Leroy and Anna both have stances that auto-counter lows. The clearest indicator is the fact is the fact that in the trailer she seemed to be automatically evading certain moves, but 0n at least one occasion she cancelled the stance into a move on her own, without being attacked.
Xiao in a way dances around the opponent, but that comes across in a way that infuriates the player so I'm slightly worried it'll be the same with this one except worse. Either way, she's a new character so 1. I can't tell at the moment as we've never experienced it and 2. She will probably be a low tier character as that's how new characters have been in T7 in my view. We will see.
0:28 "I'm the coffee queen!" 0:41 "Is it my turn? Here comes Azucena's show!" 1:36 "Coffee is the #1 drink in the world!" 2:11 "Let's have fun!" 2:15 "Over here!" 2:20 "Do you have coffee?" 2:26 "You need more coffee!" 2:32 "Coffee is the best!"
This is seriously one of the coolest fighting game characters I have ever seen. I choose to believe the dodging is because she drinks more coffee than most could survive and lives in bullet time.
If that's the case kazuya would be ominpotent enough to beat heihachi years ago, there better be more to that ultra instinct crap then it being from drinking coffee
much more annoying than Xiaoyu and Lucky Chloe, since that character puts an emphasis to make fun of people who miss their attacks, while Lucky Chloe and Xiaoyu were just annoying in their carefree style
I am from Peru and the fast and fluid movements of the dodge mix the saya with the dance of the scissors and the hard blows are based on a Peruvian Martial art called Rumi maki (stone hand) that tries to knock out the opponent with one blow.
This character belongs in Mario world or final fantasy not tekken.seriousky I thought lucky chole was going to far,now we get a coffee queen who is suited more for a Japanese RPG game, she is just not cool enough as a fighting character for Tekken without proper build up
@@dreadxplayzs7849 You mean, the same Tekken that has not one but two bear characters, a wooden dummy that came to life, a mother kangaroo with her cub in her pouch, both with boxing gloves...a miniature super deformed T.Rex that came from a really obscure manga? Tekken has NEVER been devoid of weird characters that couldn't be taken seriously and in fact, this one is actually them HOLDING BACK on the weirdness. And if you think I'm cheating by only mentioning the non human characters, then think again. I mean, the very first game in the series had both King and Armor King...if you can take them any more seriously than this new one, then I can't take YOU seriously. Just admit you have a hate boner for the character.

Amazed by the representation of Perú and Machu Picchu! The stage music puts a very nice touch to the atmosphere! Thank you to the Tekken team for putting Perú in the map and also this is another reason to purchase the game! 🇵🇪👊🏾👊🏾
@@trevorwilliams3501 The representation is fine, it is your problem if you feel that you are not represented, because in Peru not everything revolves around the Andes, there are also different customs in the north and center of the country, but it is the people from the south of Peru who are the ones who complain about everything
She sucks honestly she belongs in a Mario game not Tekken but maybe final fantasy.i thought lucky chole was going to far but now we got a coffee queen who's more suited for a Japanese RPG game
i like how the upper part of the map looks very similar tekken 6 sheep stage (hope we can push em around here too) and the lower part looks kinda like the gold rush map from tekken 5. also as for the character, she gives me massive christie vibes but coffee
I think her subtitles are mostly wrong, so I'll type here what she's saying, including phrases/words while she's fighting: Soy la reina del café = I'm the coffee queen ¿Es hora de entrar? Aquí viene el espectáculo de Azucena = Is it time to go on stage? Here comes Azucena's show! Cuidado = Careful Toma = Take it No lo creo = I don't think so Quema = It burns Te expusiste = You exposed yourself (as in putting yourself in a vulnerable position) Sabroso = Delicious El café es la bebida #1 en el mundo = Coffee's the world's #1 beverage Fácil = Easy (but she says it mostly in the sense of "this is too easy") Ahí x2 = There x2 (implying she found a weak spot) ¡Vamos a divertirnos! = Let's have fun / Time to have fun Por aquí = Over here ¿Tienes café? = Do you have coffee? (I think she means it mostly as "You haven't had coffee, have you?") Necesitas más café = You need more coffee ¡El café es lo mejor! = Coffee's the best! As a fellow latino I'm really happy to see more countries represented!
it's called translations, they don't have to use literally the same words, just because it might not give the same context, same way Japanese anime translations are 50% not accurate but rather describe what they're trying to say

UFO at 1:46. I've been to Peru, so I really love how detailed that stage is. The real Machu Picchu has a different layout and obviously doesn't have a coffee brewery on site (that'd be down in Aguas Calientes), but the architecture of the ruins is basically the same. The misty clouds drifting through the ruins and individual stones are a nice touch, though the roaming alpacas don't have ear decorations. And I absolutely _love_ the music. It makes me want to dust off and play the quena I brought back from there.
@@angelred364 the ufo is probably a reference to those conspiracy about the incan Empire having help from aliens as an explanation for how they expanded so quickly. But nah we Peruvians just that good we almost made the continent ours until them Spaniards came

well her clothes have nothing to do with Peru,, also coffee is made in the jungle side of Peru not in the andes. And the deep andes people don't even drink coffee they get their caffeine from the coca leafs

I've never instantly loved a character and stage so much! 😍The Spanish, the dodging, the Llamas, the Peruvian clothes! As a former Steve main, this is my new dodger EDIT: I get the point, it's alpacas 😭
You know that one episode of Codename Kids Next Door where you see how coffee give people some extraordinary supersenses and abilities? This lovely lady is giving me those vibes with her amazing fighting style and I love it!
Yeah, I remember that episode, when Number 5 went high and hyperactive after drinking coffee ☕️. It lasted just for a short time before she came back to her senses. 😅
Azucena is a freshly brewed character filled with energy! (Literally.) I'm happy Peruvians are getting some love with this bold, yet sweet new addition to the Tekken roster. As a Puerto Rican, I couldn't help but notice that the English subtitles are... a _little_ embellished. I didn't realize the English subtitles in these Tekken 8 trailers were like this until an Italian pointed it out in Claudio's trailer, and as Azucena speaks Spanish, it definitely stood out to me just how localized these subs are. These embellishments aren't in the Latin American version of the trailer; it's actually a literal closed caption of what's being said except for Lili's part, which is a Spanish translation of the English subtitles used for Lili's dialogue. So, for any anyone that's interested in what Azucena is really saying, here's a translation down below along with timestamps! 🇵🇪 0:28 • *The coffee queen is here!* "¡Soy la reina del café!" - _I'm the queen of coffee!_ 0:40 • *My turn, huh? Okay, get ready for a show!* "¿Es hora de entrar? ¡Aquí viene el espectacular de Azucena!" - _Is it time to go in? Here comes Azucena's spectacular!_ 1:36 • *The tastiest drink in the world is coffee, or nothing!* "¡El café es la bebida número uno en el mundo!" - _Coffee is the number one beverage in the world!_ 2:10 • *I can do this all day!* | *How do you take your coffee?* "¡Vamos a divertirnos!" | "¡Por aquí!" | "¿Tienes café?" - _Let's have fun!_ | _Over here!_ | _Do you have coffee?_ 2:25 • *Not had your morning coffee yet?* "Necesitas más café." - _You need more coffee._ 2:32 • *Coffee is second to none!* "¡El café es lo mejor!" - _Coffee is the best!_ *Special Note:* A spectacular is an event such as a pageant or musical, produced on a large scale and with striking effects, i.e., an extravaganza. Azucena is the Spanish name for the _Lilium candidum_ (known in English as the “Madonna lily” or “white lily”). The name Azucena rose to prominence during Moorish Spain and ultimately derives from the Arabic words _‘abyad_ (meaning “white”) and _zanbaq_ (meaning “lily”).
YES! I'm so happy I found someone else in the comment section talking about this. As someone who's Mexican, I was sitting there the entire time reading the subtitles, scratching my head, and going "that's not what she said though??". I can understand localization changes, but additions to things she said like "or nothing!" when she basically said the phrase "the tastiest drink in the world is coffee!" seemed to make the sentence sound more awkward in English for no reason. No hate against Tekken, I just find these changes really fascinating!
I was wondering about the subs, cuz the little Spanish I know just didn't match what I was reading... Btw, can you make out what she says when she dodges? While dodging the grabs of Paul and King, jumping away from Bryan and ducking under Leroys kick, she says something and I can't for the life of me make out what it is... Edit: Not gonna swear on it but after listening a few times, it does sound like 'Omitido' or something very close to it. So, when she evades her opponents attacks, she says, to their face, that they 'Missed'.... Not gonna lie, I like her even more if this is the case!
Thanks a lot for this comment! I know some Spanish and I immediately noticed that what she was saying was not the same as in the subtitles. But I couldn't figure out like 50% of the things. So thanks a lot for the help! :)
