For my mid-life crisis I'm considering building my ultimate system based around these w/ the Be tweeter and xover upgrade, and a tubes4hifi Dyna 120 modernized reproduction amp kit. I work in a hospital and we've had a string quartet in one of our lobbies playing xmas music last week. Not loud, but there's a sense of scale that cannot be replicated by small speakers. Plus, I like to rock it out sometimes.
Absolutely fabulous speakers, easily the high end bargain made today! Mine are on Townshend Podiums, do that and your jaw will drop! Also if you are into modding, with the crossover located directly behind the lower woofer for great access Moab are one of the easiest to do. Mine now have Jantzen Alumen-Z and Deulund caps, Goertz air core inductors, and Path Audio resistors. Same great frequency response, didn't change that a bit, just huge gains in detail and dynamics, gobs and gobs of low level detail. Between the two, Podiums and crossovers, these have the potential to give some very, very expensive speakers a run for their money! Even in stock form you are right, end game for an awful lot of people.
Thank you for the side by side pic of the Moab and the DI's. My wife threw a fit about the DI's and now further proof I would be single if I replaced them with the Moab.
Had mine for a week now, they are opening up really nice. They do things my Double Impacts can't do with imaging/texture/treble detail/way deeper bass with the new butyl surround woofers. THE DI easily absorb close to the rated 400 watts without a hint of stress, not sure about the 900 watt rating on the Moabs. They sound different when my LA4 reaches -24db so I don't want to push things the first couple weeks. Moabs seem more sensitive? DI can go to -20db staying crystal clear for hours and that is LOUD on my Hypex NC2K monos. Moabs are the first box speaker I've had that gets close to Magnepan as far as the goosebump factor.
Great interior view, these are using the Eminence Kappalite Neo woofers. I think they are a jump in performance from the previous Moab drivers. Over $200 each, about double the cost of the others. So we lost the SEAS tweets but gained this.
What tweeters are in the reviewed speakers. And is this standard now? One should think that if you replace all the drivers then you have a new speaker and you can no longer use previous reviews
@@MartinHAndersen His Moabs and the current models have Wavecor TW030WA05 tweeters, about $80 each! Eric says they're better in the mid range than the SEAS tweeters used previously. There are new woofers available on Moabs since December, butyl rubber surrounds on kevlar coated paper cones. Deepest bass of any speaker I've ever had. Easily 20 hertz deeper (and louder) than my Double Impacts.
Hi! There They have 1 tweeter located in the Center and all the others act together as a mid driver . The sound is very smooth , seamless. Not harsh !! Hopefully this was helpful
