It was a region conquered and ruled by King David around 1000 BC then conquered by Assyrians in 722 BC, many others (such as Greeks, Romans, Persians, etc) then under Ottoman rule from 1517 to 1917... then became *recognized by some as a STATE in 1948. Palestine is also now recognized as a state. Look it up.
