Good video. A suggestion for next time, it would be good if Pete played all the guitars and Rob and cap had to guess which is which, and which they prefer. Takes the feel of the guitar out of the equation and go by sound alone.

I've seen him guessing the colour twice. I'm pretty sure one was with some Gibson vs Epiphone blindfold challenge but I can't recall what was the second time.

they were pretty quick to put Squiers down.. because theyre less expensive and the probably enjoy selling expensive axes to people with no business spending big dough on a guitar..

@@brooklynboy1000 They gave the Classic Vibes a good review when they reviewed them non-blindfolded. Rob seemed surprised how much he'd liked this CV, but maybe sometimes he subconsciously downgraded them slightly, and maybe this just happened to be a good one. (I've got a CV Tele though and did smile when he scored this one).

It always does very well in blind tests, but as soon as the blindfold comes off, seasoned players have trouble overcoming their headstock complex

It's those brass saddles and maple neck, can't remember if those are ash bodies but it's definately the vintage tele feel and sound, even in Rob's hands lol proving he's no one trick pony either! Great vid!

It's pine body. First Tele were made of pine, nowadays it's pretty unique.

Un-fuckin-be-liev-able. I mostly enjoy Lee's reactions to Rob's comments/ratings. Big props to Chappers for his experience and proving that his mouth is where his money is. All the haters should re-watch this and just respect him for who he is.

i've got mine a year ago, the vintage blonde one (like the one in the video) and it's great..the weight, the neck, how it plays..i think is the best guitar i own.. really love it..i will upgrade the tuners with locking tuners and nothing more, even if it's not needed because it holds tune pretty good

I just don't understand how someone can tell those guitar's brands apart so well, from feel and sound. I would probably have thought they were all the same guitar because in my opinion, a guitar is a guitar and pickups are pickups, they all take the sound and amplify it. Single coils on the bridge would sound different to humbuckers on the bridge, I'm only a beginner but I still think guitars can sound that different all made well.

When you've been playing a little bit longer, you'll probably begin to be able to tell the difference between a single coil and a humbucker etc. That's how it starts.

Great video again. Im sure someone has already suggested this but try a blindfolded cheap cab and expensive amp vs expensive cab and cheap amp (and maybe a mix of amps/cabs at different prices). There are so many cheap cabs that have the same speakers as super expensive cabs and hearing the difference could really help people plan out a amp/cab set up.

Definitely like this idea, especially with brands like Harley Benton doing v30 cabs for less than the price of the speaker. I shudder at the logistics of consistently mic'ing them for a fair and balanced recording though, to say nothing of volume and impedence.....

@@kraytkopacki4034 I remember watching one of his demos and the sound blew me away, but even 5 years later it's one of the nicest sounding cleans I've heard, it's kinda crisp, but very chilled out at the same time, sorta what it would sound like if you turned the tone down just enough - lol, tone is so subjective that I can't even begin to describe it, but it still sounds gorgeous.

I hear ya............Picked up a mint sunburst bound CV tele for $300 used, and 50's sunburst strat for a $120 steal with a few nicks. You can't touch either for under $400 used now. The blond and butterscotch Tele's are pine, the bound sunburst body is alder..............

I love mine just like this. Pine body. Put texas specials in it. Stripped off the heavy polyurethane all around. (hate the gloss) one of my favorite guitars I've ever played. Bought it to recreate Keith Richards "Micawber" but decided to keep it pretty true to how it was

I've thought of a bit of a cheat for this, look when he first grabs the chapman, his hand the first fret , if you let your thumb and index go finger up against the headstock slightly you can tell whether is a reversed headstock on a tele . Because on a reverse it hits your index finger not your thumb. You can then guess it may be the chapman Added to how it sounds.

I just wish they had a more ergonomic neck joint and id never play anything else. Ergonomics in general. Tummy cuts arent too common and arm cut id be good.

Same. I think it happens to a lot of people when they start playing young, I got my first guitar when I was 8, and by the time I was 10 I wanted a Warlock, and my next 3 guitar would be a bcr Warlock, a Dean ML, and a Jackson kelly. Not that there’s anything ‘wrong’ with those guitars, but these days (as an adult) I prefer super strats and LP’s. In other words, as I’ve grown up, my taste for guitars has become much more ‘subtle’

shredder or not (I'm not) you have to give Rob props for knowledge of guitars. It's always been one of Andertons draws to me. For those who've hated on Rob (I support you until you start attacking him personally) then you've missed, IMHO, one of the benefits of Rob's contribution to the various channels he's on.

The Blond and Butterscotch bodies are pine with a maple neck, the sunburst bound body is alder like the American fenders, with a rosewood board. To bad they didn't make a sunburst with a maple neck...................you wouldn't even have to look at a Mexican fender then, I guess.

I don't think the issue is you liking your own brand, it's awesome that you stand behind it and that your proud of it, nothing less shoudl be expected, especially with all the work you've obviously put in to achieve Chapman Guitars. I think it was more along the lines of people were feeling like this channel was becoming all about Chapman guitars and that you were losing your objectivity.

This was really quite impressive. However, I really suspect the fact that the ML-3 has a carved top would've been a massive hint, whether Rob was consciously aware of it or not.

Brilliant Guy's ;-) Can you do a video where the person that is Not playing tries to guess what type and brand of guitar the other one is playing. I think this would really challenge Rob as he always seems to guess right when he can play the guitar and the Captain has such a great ear for tone and knows the stock that Andertons have, I think that this would be really cool to see due to the years of experience that both of you have playing e.t.c . Blindfolded 7-string test. The disadvantage put on Rob by adding a 7th string might be enough to throw him off with even a Chapman!

Plus, it's not like there's a shortage of suspiciously Strat-shaped 7-string guitars to keep things from getting too obvious. Add to that the fact that there's a wide range of price points to choose from and I could see it being a very interesting challenge.

Glad the Squier Classic Vibe got a good review. They are great. I personally thought the ESP sounded great too. I recently played a Chapman. Not a fan, but each to their own.

Spot on clip. I inwardly groaned when I saw it was almost 33 minutes long, but sat mesmerized through the entire proceeding. Time well spent. How Rob tells those apart and identifies them on top of it is beyond me, but in saying that, this has helped me immeasurably in a possible upcoming choice.

The trick to finding a Chapman in there? Watch the index finger of Rob's first chord he plays. Only his headstock will have that carve on his index finger up there! 😉

I really like that they’re including Chapman’s in these videos now. The fact that Rob can so quickly pick his guitars out of the crowd definitely inspires brand interest because he obviously spends tons of time with all of these different models as well as many other brands.

I have the same exact Squier Classic Vibe that Rob tested, & they are very good guitars for the money. I think I paid $300 for mine. I did swap out the brass saddles for Graph Tech intonated saddles & it is a keeper.

This just proved how amazing the squier classic vibe telecaster is and is better than other fender telecasters. Even the blindfolded Rob thought it was a higher end fender telecaster and that's even despite being out of tune, really nice feeling neck, etc that he didn't even said in the other actual fender telecasters and the others that costs so much more plus it was one of the highest scores. Third next to the chapman and 52 custom shop.

Simply amazing. I wouldn't even be able to play blindfolded, let alone guess whether it's a Telecaster or not. I guess experience does count and Rob has a great ear.
