These are stock. Non-compensated. Brass. Fender Vintera 50's Modified. Fender 250 strings 10's.
One viewer asked me to make another test and I did it in this video by playing open low strings and their octaves above the 7th fret, as one strummed chord. • 3 open low strings and...

I'm failing to see how this is a test of intonation. It's in tune. Isn't intonation about each string having the right length and tension such that the frets of the individual strings are in tune with the natural harmonics? i.e. 12th fretted sounds same as 12th harmonic?

Get a set of RS Guitarworks 5/16 size compensated saddles (brass, steel or aluminum)and be done with it. Best tele saddles on the market hands down, many of the top builders are using them such as RS Guitarworks and Danocaster. They are made by Advanced platng in Tennessee.

I got a 99 dollar Glarry thinline that I was able to get about spot on so my dumb ass ordered a set of Wilkinson compensated saddles just for the fun of it.

It's impossible to judge the intonation with what you play and the way you play it. And there's no magic - Uncompensated saddles are a compromise.

hmmm... how about letting three open strings ring while fretting their octave up on the other three strings past the 7th fret and letting those ring also with one strum to see if all six still sound in tune?

Just did and it sounds in tune to me. I will upload it now ...let me see if I can record it with my iphone ...

uploading the video now ... btw, I intonate it while in E standard and then once happy I tune it all down to standard D tuning without any intonation issues. At least not for the chords I play.

@@Cheguebuddha Sounds in tune! Bravo! I'm hoping my new tele esquire will intonate like that... it's still in the box.

With three saddles, you can only intonate three strings accurately. Pick one side or the other of the saddle, and intonate for that string.

Or split the difference
@Cheguebuddha
@Cheguebuddha 4 месяца назад
@@jasonthompson2059 YES! :D Split the difference and compensate on the tuners a bit for one string. Usually, I down-tune slightly on the B string with 10' strings but with 11's strings, I don't need to do this.

I realise that on some Wilkinson Sung vintage bridges, saddles(compensated) are more away from a edge of a bridge, on a classic Fender style vintage bridges the saddles are more back positioned(closer to the edge of a bridge). How is that possible? I mean, we are talking about the same guitar model, classic telecaster size&shape.
@Cheguebuddha
@Cheguebuddha 3 месяца назад
The bridge pickup route is not the same on Fender Teles and T-style guitars. Its to avoid copy right. Harley Benton also has a bridge route further away which means the saddles will be closer to the bridge pickup. This results in an even brighter bridge pickup sound. I dislike that. I prefer the saddles to further away from the bridge pickup.

@@Cheguebuddha Omg, finally, someone solves me that mistery. Exactly this is that negative result of having such a bridge, shrill and bright bridge pickup:( On both guitars i have the same output bridge pickup, but on the original Fender tele, it sounds moooore full, rounded and fat! How to solve that problem then on a such a guitar? If i moove sadles away from a pickup, i will loose good intonation, right?

@@keithclark486 I have 3 Teles and all have these non-compensated saddles and all play fine up and down the fretboard, intonated well. Im now building another Tele partcatser and this one too will get a non-compensated ashtray 3 saddle bridge. I know how to set up my own guitars.
@YouTubeHandlesAreMoronic

@@keithclark486 Assuming no compensated nut, If a guitar has unusually low action and relief, it can require less compensation to be properly intonated. This is also the case if you use lighter gauge strings or a wound G string. But, if relief, action, and string gauge/type are consistent, then the same compensation will be required. There's no way around it. It's just simple physics. I have, of course played guitars that had been "intonated" by a tech with a poor ear. Some very good players simply can't hear the difference between close and perfect.

Sorry, but I don't think you understand intonation or how to demonstrate it - but looks like a pretty cool guitar.
@spacepodi

It will now cost you at least £50.00 for a 6 saddle bridge and another £8-15 for new strings. Then you should get the thing intonated. I have not ever - in over 40 years set up a bridge, and ended up with the strings all being perfectly in pairs. It is a crap dated design that should have gone the way of the dodo. (A bit like TV yellow)

I have 3 Teles and all have these non-compensated saddles and I have no issues with intonation. I set up my own guitars. Im building another Tele partcaster now and will again buy this non-compensated ashtrey bridge. Dont know why folks have issues with it? Bring it to your local guitar tech and they will adjust it properly for you.
@YouTubeHandlesAreMoronic
@YouTubeHandlesAreMoronic День назад
@@Cheguebuddha @spacepodi is correct. This is not a matter of opinion; it's the physics of the guitar. If your paired saddles are 90-degrees to the strings, your intonation is, at best, a weak compromise. It may be adequate for you, but to someone with a trained ear and who plays complex chords up the neck, it will be like fingernails on a chalkboard.

how?
@Cheguebuddha
@Cheguebuddha 2 года назад
Im not sure. I do detune the B string slightly and the rest are tuned to the right pitch. This way I get it to work great up and down the fretboard. You can see the position of the saddles to give you a rough idea. I intonated the strings using a cheap TC clip on tuner.
