@@iamgriff Yes I did, I did a clean up and reinstall. Sorry i didnt include that. Grease needs cleaned off that rod that's inside the tube and regreased every 6months.
I cant for the life of me get the cable to come out of the helmet unit, I get it to detach using the little pin supplied but then I just see the inside workings of the cable and cant get it out any suggestions
Sam Zeilman Use a penetrating catalyst and cover the cable within the helm, let sit for 8mins. The cable will be covered in a lubricant grease. I would either put the steering wheel back on or use vise-grip to secure the steering shaft. Have the helm unit sit in a vise snuggly and try working the cable free by turning the steering shaft back and forth. Continuing with no results: If it is seized to no return, I would use a degreaser and soak it. Sit for 5mins, work the steering shaft one way then the other, spray, sit for 2,.etc.
That I dont remember, it was either counter or clockwise turning of the steering shaft to fully remove it from the steering unit. I'm kinda fuzzy on that.
