Don't let this microphone talk distract you from the fact that if you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma you may be entitled to financial compensation.
Got the sweet water gold version of this microphone for my mother’s birthday she sings live often, I was scared to buy since so expensive and I don’t know anything about equipment😬 but watching this puts me more at ease of what I am really getting into thanks for the review
I bought one of these and am thrilled with it. Also, wish you would have mentioned the many colors that it comes in, but I totally agree condenser mic sound in a durable stage body - Amazing vocal mic
Not only are Telefunken mics incredible, the entire staff are very cool. Yes, I'm friends with the owner and studio manager, but that's besides the point. Buy Telefunken mics! 😂
@@soamnuan4518 Instruments ins and outs via 6.2mm (1/4-inch) connectors and microphones via XLR to and/or from both. Which one is first in the chain probably would partially depend on what you're trying to use them for
Wow it's been some months since I don't watch your videos and the reviews are great! I will definitely start watching the videos again. How could I stop like wtf I've always praised this channel it's so good
I always dig the unique little 90's 00's vibe indie band sattire verses you do haha. I have a bunch of mics by now and i sorta just end up watching a review or two to remind myself i dont need a new one, that neumann's clarity is second to only your reviews lol
@@Podcastage i ended up with the oc16 from AA and love it, i use it with the revelator io24 from presonus which is cool in some ways for the price and has been a good starter for me, but ive since had my eye on the rme interfaces primarily for the mixing software integration. And think my end game mic will be the earthworks sr mic, I just really like the look and build of them. haha and ya ofcourse, ill likely be watching for many years to come so no, THANK YOU. Good sir!
A great review as usual from Bandrew. Covered every detail with professionalism. Thank you for the best review of this popular microphone at this time.
I've put this side-by-side with a sE V7 and found them to fit pretty a similar "condenser-like" niche. YMMV on which you prefer, but I need four to six microphones at any given time and the V7 is a little nicer at the top end (it's good for spoken word) while being $150 cheaper. And it's a little silly, but the flat-edged basket ring keeps the microphone from rolling better than the flattened edges on the microphone body.
@@JaredSchumaier Depends on the voice. My voice is lower and a little more bass-heavy so I kinda like the V7 for me. I don't feel like it's a huge difference though (and as time has gone on I've kinda noticed less significant differences between stick dynamics in general). And, not for nothing, but in the environments where I shoot, the V7 looks better. ;)
Probable won't get a response haha but... I am currently choosing between the e945 and the M80 as a female vocalist in a rock band. Any help would be massively appreciated!!
Great review … wifes a singer and needs a new mic replacement from her beta 58 (got lost somehow at a gig).. i know she’d love nother 58 but ive noticed it comes in purple and its a telefunkin …. Which she looooves purple … so idk which one shud i get her .. nother beta or a telefunkin?
Can you do a review for the Sandberg Studio Pro? I have seen some good reviews, but from sources I don't really know, would be great if you could do a review!
Hi, I would like to see how this microphone performs at 55,hz, 49hz, an 41.2hz. That's a low A, G, and E. Screen shots of a spectrum analyzer would be ideal.
Thanks for good comparison. I’m a bit confused with how to assign mic for vocalists, since either way you will end up tweaking eq. For example, I understand that M81 has more boost on high freq, so is this the best mic for high tenor voices guys like Journey, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake etc? To “boost” of their highs even more,m then tame by post eq? or is it best to rather go with M80, to “tame” their highs and just boost in post eq if needed?
The M80 is in my opinion far superior to the dark SM58 for spoken word (and signing). The SM58 is a mic I will use if I have no choice but given a choice, no question about it - the M80 is in a completeLy different league and brings out vocal nuisances the SM58 simply can’t.
Just subscribed! Great stuff. Can I ask: If I replace a Sm58 grille with a SM57 grille, does this effectively make it into a SM57 ? i.e. the only difference is the grille?
@me only louder thanks.... I phoned Shure part department a few days ago, and they said, yes, its the same mic but you cant put a sm57 grille on a sm58 because it wont fit. There are some 57s on ebay but I am wary of getting a fake/damaged, so I might just go and buy the $99 full price one on amazon. Unless Shure have Black Friday sales(?) I could wait, not urgent...
@me only louder Aha, yes, I actually got the A81WS new a few weeks ago, and I am planning to make the Sm57 similar to an SM7B. I borrowed an SM57 two weeks ago from a friend and I was very pleased with the results. Pleased enough to want to buy an sm57. If you EQ the sm57 a little it sounds really good. Theres a YT video on it.
2 years later the answer is no. The mics are NOT the same as people make you believe, they do share the same capsule, but the internals are indeed different! a very easy fact that gives away is the sensitivities of both mics are different, thats likely because of the transformers. So no they are NOT the same mic they "shure" sound similar (pun intended bc you can tell they all have that classic "shure" sound just like the 7B too...)
Hey nice video, I have a question, i need a mic for spoken words and sing at the podium at church it is small church i can spend $300 or less! Which one do you think it will be good? Thanks. Your help will be much appreciated. I do enjoy your videos keep it up.
How does this compare to the electrovoice N/D 767a as far high end sensitivity? The EV is what I use cuz it really cuts thru, but I keep breaking them cuz they're cheaply built. I know the M80 is more sturdy, but I need something the really cuts thru.
SM58 is the stage king. Handles everything, in fact IMHO, shure is most successful mic manufacturer, owns stage, guitar, studio and shotguns. :) Once you get the hang of them, you won't look for overall quality and price, anywhere else.
I felt for a 200 and something dollar mic, it could of done a bit better. Even though we can fix it in post, for the price we could of gotten an entire setup. Example being Audio-Technica ATR 2100-USB Cardioid Dynamic USB/XLR Microphone, paired with the uphoria um2 audio interface, and the Audio-Technica ATH M20X Professional Monitor Headphones. But I guess it's because I'm not a singer, but a voice over artist. BTW podcastage would this be a great setup?.
I just received my M80 and wanted to ask if you know what the small loose circular piece of course of foam is inside the basket? There is the black windscreen foam lining the inside but also a small piece of gray course foam -not sure if it should be loose and what its function is, did that come in yours - I know this is old but can't seem to find an answer anywhere.
Respected Sir, Am from KERALA STATE S India. Can I use it as a *lead microphone* in our Church Choir please !? Hope it's clear in base notes too. Kindly (2) answer me Sir. Am planning to invest this high for the first time in my life for a microphone!!! Hope it delivers cutely. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thanks DEAR Sir. Loved your easy and cool presentations. Listen to you most of the time. Has subscribed to you Sir. Am in my forty. Had retired from active sing'. But am returning on the persuasion from my younger Choir members. Please understand my timid situation. Want to make my rentry a thumping success. Hope you might have understood. Kindly suggest the best in business. You are the one capable of doing it. 👍🎉
After I reviewed this, I think they updated the M80 and M81 and it's different now. I think the modern M80/M81 are Supercardioid as opposed to the Cardioid that I reviewed here, so I'm not able to chime in on the modern ones. I have a spoken word comparison between the AT2020 and MXL990 in my modern re-review of the AT2020 which should help. You're ultimately going to have to decide which of the mics you like the sound of better. I'm slightly leaning towards the MXL990 but the AT2020 is tried and true and people swear by it a lot more than the MXL990. But if I remember correctly people like the MXL990 to mod it (something I've never done). Sorry I can't give you the answer you're looking for, you're going to have to decide which one you like the sound of best. Here's the comparison: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BySMEMHyy7U.html
@@JaredSchumaier Yeah, M80's still a pretty good quality mic by industry standards but it's definitely NOT for every voice out there (lol). For strong male/female voices that tend to sit more in the lower register like mine for instance, M81 damn near fits the bill for me. Put a nice windscreen on it and you might not need another mic for a good long while! ;-)
