What a lively and uplifting performance of Telemann’s Tafelmusik Teil II Quartet for Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, and continuo! Outstanding musicality! I especially relished the bassoon part. For those less familiar with baroque music, the continue consists of both the cello and harpsichord parts.
Have always like this piece, having performed it years ago. This was really outstanding playing by all. My preference is for more embellishments in the first allegro movement, but that’s just me. This music should be played more often. Thank you!
I am a Baroque woodwind/viola da gamba performer. Whilst I wish you all were playing on period instruments & don't think the tempo stretching in the final D Major section is supported by textual evidence, this is one of the most sensitive modern-instrument renditions of this work I've ever heard. I especially approve of the use of bassoon instead of recorder, which as a Telemann scholar I am convinced was his intention for this piece. Brave, brave!
