Written by Jeff Lynne. This was ELO's 1st gold single. (1977). Album: A New World Record. ELO was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, class of 2017. Congratulations!
Made me cry. Seriously, I've heard parts of this song for the the first time. Simply ethereal. My God, I know Jeff is a genius, but just how talented can one man be?
This was mainly Sir Lou Clark's doing with a little help from Richard Tandy and less help from Jeff Lynne. You guys give Jeff Lynne way too much credit.
Well said Jeff the sole composer and songwriter of ELO plus he is one of the best producers ever. With the brilliant orchestration of Louis Clark thy really made some of the best albums of the 70s. Superb!
Instrumentals from the magical era of Face The Music - Out Of The Blue are fascinating. They finally give the chance to hear the string section of Mik Hugh and Mel, as well as the orchestra. With the vocals it's easy for the three of them to be lost in the mix. Thank you for posting this. So many of Jeff Lynne's songs, even without the vocals are masterpieces. This is no exception. Thank you so much.
The ELO instrumental mixes are just fabulous. Waterfall (on Face the Music remastered) sounds like a better version of Johann Sebastian Bach's greatest works.
Hello. How are you? Have you been alright through all those lonely lonely lonely lonely lonely nights? That's what I'd say. I'd tell you everything, if you'd pick up that telephone. Hey. How you feeling? Are you still the same? Don't you realize the things we did we did were all for real? Not a dream. I just can't believe they've all faded out of view. Blue days, black nights I look into the sky The love you need ain't gonna see you through. And I wonder why The little things you planned ain't coming true. Telephone line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight Telephone line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight O.K. So, no one's answering, Well can't you just let it ring a little longer longer longer I'll just sit tight, through the shadows of the night Let it ring for evermore. Blue days, black nights I look into the sky The love you need ain't gonna see you through. And I wonder why The little things you planned ain't coming true. Telephone line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight Telephone line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight Telephone line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight Telephone line, give me some time, I'm living in twilight
