Great Video. A little trick to prevent the sleeve from rotating or even coming out of the concrete at some point is to drill a hole through the pvc down low where it is embedded in concrete. Run a piece of rebar or pipe through this hole so that it extends out on both sides of the pvc. This will prevent it from rotating later on. Don't put the hole too high on the pvc or you can't slide the flag pole in properly.
Great video Ray I installed my flagpole same way you did . I watched the video 2 or 3 times and the installation went rather easy . Thank you for taking the time to make a video like this , it was very helpful . Thank you .
Thank you SO much for making this video! I bought the same flag pole but I have never installed one before. We'll be doing a Jurassic Park flag and a Superman flag in memory of our 4.5 year old son Mikey we lost during heart surgery in June of 2019. Thanks again!!!!
Appreciate you for making this video. God bless you and have a wonderful day!!! It looks great and I will be putting ours up at our new forever home soon ☺ 🇺🇲 🖖
I applaud you for displaying our great American Flag. I to have bought the same kit as you have, and plan to install mine the same as you. Thank you for your video!! Proud American!!
Great job sir. I like the light on top, and I was almost going to buy one, but if the flag was blowing in the wind, the light wouldn't illuminate the flag sufficiently.
How deep on the ground rod and what are you using to bond the ground rod to the pole, if I may ask, Sir? #12 wire? Nothing too bad around here. The occasional lightning storm from hell several times a year here in Jeffersonville Indiana. Better safe than sorry. But then you have differences of potential between the power co neutral and the pole grounding. As long as it goes to earth ground. Better than nothing (?) What about this thing flying away, or someone ripping it down? A two year old can lift this thing out of the ground.
The pvc pole is 24" deep, the concrete is all i used to keep the poles together. The idea is to be able to remove the pole in severe weather or high winds. You want to be able to pull it out easily when needed.
I got my flag pole for $49 at Harbor Freight looks and works the exactly the same as that one. But with out the light. But after googling flag light attachment i got one for 29.00 So total of 78.00. And yes that flag pole works great.
@APE I guess i got lucky then... my harbor fright on was out 2018 when hurrican Rosa hit Yuma Arizona winds was over 60mph at times. lucky for me mine never bent. (the flag its self did rip)
We have a Stand Flag pole that is about two months old. Installation went well. Ours has pins that we have to put in every section when puting it up and take out of every section when taking it down. We have to line the holes up and that is not easy! Right now it's down because we can't line up the pin for the second section. Not much fun. Other than that when it's up the American and Trump flag look great in the day. Our stand light doesn't work well either.
Should I get a thicker pvc pipe or is the one they send sufficient? Will only be leaning an inch or 2 above ground. Thanks. Diameter is so of pole so I can get PVC. It’s the collapsible one like this.
The pvc pipe that is supplied with the pole is sufficient to use. I would only heave 1 " above ground. I went deeper and used a schedule 40 attachment to add depth just for security. However it is not needed. Although they suggest back fill dirt and sand. I would thing if you use the supplied pcv pipe and you use concrete. You will be fine. My video was overkill on the process. Good luck.
What an awesome idea. So how long is the sleeve on the extended PVC pipe? I guess my concern is that the designated sleeve wouldn't be buried enough. Any advice?
The extension piece I cut was 13 inches. The top piece would be buried enough l, and you would have no concern if you used PVC glue to bond the too together. Thanks for asking.
No I had one in Tucson az it blue down tin the first strong wind ,bent where it came out of the ground ended up buying a heave duty 3 section 2o ft pole
To fly half staff you would put the flag in the second flag position. Since, I fly two flags I would need to remove the second flag. Thanks for asking.
Very nice. Thank you for showing the night view. Will look at your link to Amazon. Really like how you demonstrated the ground install and flag raise using the telescopeIng feature and the removal. Flags are good size. Also liked the flower bed idea. How did your impatience flowers do during the summer? Our sun is too intense for Impatiences without lots of shade. Really nice and informative video. 😊😊😊
Thanks for the comments. The impatients did ok, but this year I will probably go a different route. I went on vacation for a week and when i returned they were fried due to no rain.
So I did an 18 by 18-inch for my telescopic flagpole, which is 25 feet high, but I've noticed it pitches & rolls when it's windy. How can i stabilize it from moving? Should the boot & cover help?
I should pitch in windy days. You can either lower one section on windy days to reduce the sway. But. I just let it fly at 25ft all the time. I do not worry about it on windy days. I had no problems so far
Depending on the time of year. The summer it stays on all night with a good amount of light. However during the winter months the light seem to be working at around 70 percents of full power. It stays on but is dimmer
@@raysway6050 I would say it was about a 16th of an inch gap. I cut a piece of the original sleeve off and slide it down one side and it fit perfectly, nice and snug now.
No, the directions only require a 12 in wide hole and 18 in deep. Back filled with sand. However on Ray's Way I do things differently and want to make sure the pole is securely in place.
How many section come down? Just one? You deffentntly should not twist tight using the plactistic collars. Try to tighten about 2 to three inches above and below the plastic section collars.
I have not had any issues with where retention. I do not see how it would hurt to drill a hole. However. If the sleeve impeded completely in concrete the water will have no place to go. If it leaves to stone or sand it will drain
Nice video Ray. I don't know if you live near Danora, or Monongahela Pa. That's where my family is from. We live in AZ now but a bunch of cousins are still in Pa.
I had that issue once. I sprayed wd40 and let it sit be easy with it because it is mesdy Ny when you pit it bCk up it will get everywhere. Do not twist or pkace your hands on the plactic section piece. You may wNt to get another person twist the bottom section while the other twists the upper section. Again, hands need to be on the pole itself. Good luck. Let me know if it worked.
Very nice video thank you I don’t find the link on my cell phone. Can you tell me where you bought it and does it look solid and durable? Thank you so much.
It has some nice flex in it. I have not taken it down in any weather yet but if you get a lot of high winds over 65 mph i would stil with a solid pole. But that is if you do not want to take it out when it get that windy
I have the same flag you installed. It worked good for about a month. Then it started falling down. It wouldn’t catch when you twist it, it would just keep turning. It’s standing out there about 6 foot tall, no flags on it of course. So I will never purchase that kind again.
Yes, the plastic tabs inside are weak. There is one in the cemetary I have had to rebuild 3 times now over the past 8 years and it's only put up 3 times a year. Titan brand.... flagpolefarm.com sells the replacement parts.
@@wolfgrizzer I'm just going to try and glue old bicycle inner tube tire material around each coupling with that weatherproof Gorilla Glue. I can get mine down and keep it whole dropping top down catching the flag unclasping it before it hits the ground then store it on the side of the house if there's bad weather.
why wouldnt you just use one piece of pvc instead of joining two together? and you measured 7 inches from the top of the level...not the bottom....does that mattere?
The pvc pipe that comes with the pole is not a standard size. I used the extension just to get more pipe below ground for strength and durability bucause of the loise ground of tge raised flower bed. The extension inside diameter is smaller than the pole
I don't have that much trust in PVC extending that far above concrete. best to have concrete to within an inch of the top of the PVC to prevent the PVC from breaking.
@@wolfgrizzer I do not get much wind. However the pole says it can withstand winds upto 120mph. I would not trust that. But should handle your regular winds.
@@raysway6050 Mine is in concrete 30" deep, within an inch of the top of the PVC. I got the collar, sits on the concrete to hide the little bit of exposed PVC. I have 2 flags on mine. Had 45 mph wind gusts a few days ago. challenging working in the yard.
I clicked your 499th "like" for your video. Came across it because I am shopping for a 25 foot telescoping flagpole. How do you lock it in place to prevent theft?
Well it was made to be removable. I did not consider theft. I would suggest drilling a 3/8" hole in the bottom pole section that you can run a cable lock through and attach it to an eye bolt that you can insert in the concrete base before it sets.
