at 15 I found Conan on my cousins basic cable and caught wind of the late night wars. as an adult, its one of the most fascinating stories and ive learned alot about broadcast television through that story. thanks for this video!!!

I’m surprised NBC didn’t include Gumby in there like what they did with Howdy Doody, which gave life to Gumby

Keep vintage shows/documentaries coming. Everything can be interesting to some people. Also, 40-50 minute videos is only a good ;)

Hi Jeff, this was from a VHS tape made in 1986, the 50th anniversary of NBC. (Fifty years earlier, 1936, July 7, the NBC division of RCA made its first television broadcast in New York. ~ Hope that helps. ~ Victor, CHAP

Nice little history of NBC, But America progressed and developed broadcast TV, they didn't invent it.

No 'one' person or country "invented" broadcast television, or radio. It was the result of hundreds of small developments that led to its realization.

@@cjay2 My point exactly, yet a lot of documentaries state that America invented TV/Radio/Computers/Aeroplanes/Cars and just about everything else. It annoys me a little. Sorry.

@@frankowalker4662 Agreed. But we can say that all those things (and much more) were Western inventions overall. No other culture has been capable of doing the required research to develop these things.

But yet here you are posting from your American I-phone on a American video sharing website about a American company that has been broadcasting video two years shy of a century ! Lol 😂

@@oldmanemptyhouse7659 It's a Japanese PC plugged into a Chinese TV. LOL Over here in the UK the BBC first broadcast TV in the 1936, in America the first TV broadcast was at the1939 World's Fair in New York. Due to WWII we had to stop TV and Radio broadcasting due to the Germans being able to use the signals as targets. But America could carry on during the war refining the system. 👍
