My first memory of this hymn was with my Grandmother playing piano and me singing with her. Such a wonderful sight to see now people actually singing together-.in these very different times Many Thanks-.very moving.
I can't tell you how lovely it is to hear this beautiful hymn, my nan's cousins their Auntie use to preach the word of Jesus in a church. On Tuesday she held a service in the afternoon, i use to creep into the little church (after infant school) and quietly sit down, she use to save this hymn till i got there. Though she was my nan's cousin auntie i use to call her 'auntie', her name was Eva. I now realise how Marvellous it was a lady, standing up on the platform preaching the word of Jesus in the 1970's. She was a lovely, non judgemental lady, a thoroughly lovely human being, i thought the world of her.
One of my childhood favorites and a glorious message it gives to the heart. A prayer that every Christian should often pray. This beautiful old hymn was written by Katherine Hankey in 1866 after she had been very ill. Miss Hankey was an English evangelist and Sunday school teacher. The music was composed by well known American composer Dr. William H. Doane.
I am used to this hymn in the Salvation Army but I have never heard it sung so beautifully. Amazing..it is the Spirit that I feel....Do not let the modern singers ruin this....this is priceless.
In loving memory of Auntie Eva ‘Cissy’ Sherman who preached the love of Jesus in the 70’s and told the ‘Old, Old, Story’ at the Cops Lane church, Gosport, Hampshire.

@@jacobhall835 Thank you for your reply back in March. I have only just picked it up in one of my email folders I rarely look at. This is a beautiful rendition of the much loved hymn I used to know and sing as a child. The ever new old story. I never tire of hearing it and worshipping.
I'm from a very poor family but my mom and dad never let us to miss Sunday's service I really thankful for my parents it's really help me to be a better human being
Whitewall reminds of the AOG church in Norwood, Johannesburg. I am now living in Plano, Texas. God bless you Bible Guy. The doctors say I don’t have long to live. Cancer and under hospice care. The last station before this and eternity.
Very unusual, where the majority of choir members don’t seem to be acquainted with the words of the hymn. The tempo is far too slow: it should he sung rousingly.
This was always learnt at Sunday school, I am an old man have sung at this speed all my life I an not from this church are people but its the same old story. Except a man be born again he will not enter into the kindom of God
It’s wonderful we can here about Gods Wod in song and being able to read the Bible as well. My parents were Christians and that is where they one another and so it’s followed on.
