@@TyTimeIsAwesomehe is literally one of the best #2 option receivers in the league. when jj got hurt last year addison was basically our only weapon and he did great he almost had 1000 yards as a rookie
@TyTimeIsAwesome 900 yards and 10 tds his rookie season. As for this season...could be a regression, a new qb, a lack of spreading the ball around, or all of the above. Off-field issues are another story...
Guys we need INTERIOR PASS RUSH!! It’s so blatantly obvious!! We had the lowest pressure rate since 2020 last night! The reason why our SECONDARY is looking bad is because we don’t have pressure in the Qbs face and we only get home on blitzes, which weakens the secondary! We need to make a move for a guy that can move the middle of the D line.
Team needs to stop being overly cautious with players. Hockenson should've been out there. Getting him out there I think would've sparked this team. Instead the Rams brought back 2 stud WR and took the spark for themselves.
@@devon303 lol you got about 40 years of sweeps to do before the Lions and Vikings are legit rivals. Yall act like the your the Chiefs when you finally got good after how long? I'm not gonna sweat the Lions lol. Used to respect your fan base, the couple you had anyway. I'm sure you're one of the bandwagon ones. Like how lonely are you that you go onto other teams fan pages and trash talk? Get a life 😂
Its very possible we are underestimating not having cashman on the field. I mean the last 2 games without him, the middle has been gouged for yards in the pass and its possible that cashman did a better job than pace getting things lined up so pace could focus on being a missle. I think Cashman not playing is hurting our ability to get lined up quickly and disguise
1) Jordan Addison is averaging like 3 catches a game 2)Dallas Turner is not being used at all 3)Flores only cares about the line, has no answer in the secondary 4) Kupp and Nacua were healthy, so they played………Risner and Hock are healthy, they didn’t play. KOC has a problem. Ego, pride? Idk the word for it but it’s something Owners were right not to pull the trigger early on extensions.
KOC is too damn nice, he won’t bench Ed Ingram simply cause he’s a 2nd round pick . He thinks Jonny Mundt is a threat or playing “very well” so he’s over cautious about Hockenson. Jordan Addison basically became a deep drag, meaning he’s not getting the ball unless it’s a deep shot down the field. Unlike last year where he played slot. This defense needs a DT and Man Corner, you literally cannot blitz and play zone, you will be exposed.
@@jonathanmelsha9214 exposed how?In pass coverage lol? And I don’t wanna hear about penalties. Jihad Ward has single handedly ruined more than 4 crucial stops for our defense and he’s still actively in rotation. Turner is a rookie, penalties are to be expected.
The Vikings thought that they could get Hock and Risner 10 more days of rest by sitting them for a game against a Rams team that was on the verge of imploding. Didn’t have the killer instinct to put all hands on deck to destroy a weaker team.
We're a finesse team whose best player is a wide receiver....we get punch in the mouth and usually fold when it counts. Simply not a physical team and nobody respects us no matter how many games we win.
Your best player being a receiver is an improvement over a few seasons ago when it was your kicker and you won all your games by a field and lost your home playoff game.
@@rumplerug8937wait you mean when Jets had his best season and was our best player still, 128 rec, 1,804 yards, 8tds Meanwhile greg noseph was 26/33, And the kicker is 6 MISSED EXTRA POINTS!!!! And that Is 10 IN 2021 & 2022 seasons
More than a few times this year, darnold doesn't want to throw dumpoffs to wide open Jones or company with field to work with. Seems like he wants those 10-20 yard plays all the time, like he plays for YPA or something.
Hopefully, the return of Cashman, Hockenson, and Risner next week? Will have as positive of an impact, as the return of Nacua and Kupp had for the Rams last night.
1. Excellent points Andy! Yes indeed, a great pass rush & run defence from the 'Front-7' *will* solve a lot of issues with the DBs. (..but, yes, Gilmore & Smith are too slow, so....) 2. I watched Addison as much as possible last night. There is no doubt that he was trying hard, completing blocks, and showing some 'football intelligence' for a change. However, he did disappear in the 2nd half due to issues with the OL, play design, etc.
That defense was like donnatell. Everytime Stafford would throw it and before camera would even pan to the receiver you know it would be caught for like 20 yards
Remember this team is in a rebuild mode but probably a fast one, that game was ugly but we move on. But right now get some trade done and go beat colts next week SKOL!!!
Rams were a great example of changing things up for a game. Stafford got the ball out quickly and really didnt take any deep shots til the end to protect against the vikings pressure. I feel like KOC and Flores are not making adjustments or enough adjustments for opponents week to week. You now have esentially 3 weaker spots on the line- left tackle, right guard and center. How teams attack the vikings is going to be different going forward. The big thing to consider is all these should win games coming up all are Meh teams with good individual pass rushers. KOC is going to have to start getting the ball out quicker and starting to dial up more options than JJ. JJ got his larger game, however the production of everyone around is really starting to suffer, and we dont look as balanced on passing
When teams are getting to your quarterback regularly, where is the screen game and the quick hit west coast offense type plays? That is exactly what McVey and Stafford did to make the Vikes D look NCAA division II level. Why did we stop running the ball in the 2nd and 3rd quarter? I'm beginning to question KOC's ability to adapt and adjust.
KOC was doing this last year too and by the end of the year a lot of us were over it. He's been a highly questionable play caller, esp in the second halves of games.
He rarely, if ever calls quick hits and NEVER calls quick slants for 4-5 yds, no matter who his QB has been - horrible avoidance of productive plays. I don't understand that.
Trying not to overreact, but I’m pretty worried about the defense. Goff/Johnson and Stafford/McVay saw every single blitz that Flores dialed up. They felt zero pressure and picked the defense apart for 3 hours. Secondary looks terrible when the QBs are not under insane pressure. Something’s gotta change
I need everyone to CALM. DOWN. We’re 5-2, with our next four games being VERY winnable. Vs. Colts, At Jags, At Titans, At Bears. If they don’t go at least 3-1 in those games, then we hit the panic button.
1) blocking- inconsistent. 2) old secondary 3) no 3rd wr 4) weak interior DL 5) JJ carries KOC 6) ivan pace is lost 7) weak drafting 8) gilly- he was a huge reason why we came back down 33 pts. Slow/old 9) terrible run stopping 10) typical vikings *
BS call, but you can't review a penalty. The intention of the rule is to determine if they actually scored -- did a receiver complete the catch, did a runner cross the goal line, etc. They aren't checking to see if an offensive lineman should be called for holding or if a receiver should be called for offensive PI. Again, it's a horrible no-call.
Forget everything else, the defense is bad! We gave them a 10 point lead against the Lions and they blew it and then we gave them a 14 point lead on Thursday and they blew that too. I have a great name for the Vikings defense, Purple Mirage.
It started with the Packers in the 2nd quarter when Nailor muffed that punt. Packers put up 7 right before the 2nd quarter ended. From there our defense was exposed!
@nathancollins69 question: Do we use exotic schemes because we dont have the personal to play base D, thus covering up our glaring holes? Almost like smoke and mirrors...
Vikings offense 1st 15 plays (A tale of two offenses) Yards Per Play: 1st Points Scores: 1st Pass Yards: 1st Rush Yards: 8th First Downs: 2nd After that Yard Per Play: 23rd Points Scored: 21st Pass Yards 26th Rush Yards: 27th First Downs: 29th. Yes, the Defense isn't working, but our offense has a Jekyll/Hide personality.
Amen brother. To every word you said here. 6 days ago they were the best defense in the country. They have to get back to that level. Have to !!!!!!! There is nothing wrong with Sam . 💜💜💜🏈👍🙏
Hopefully Darrisaw's injury isnt severe and can come back in a few weeks because that 2nd half of the game quessenberry got tossed around a few times. Also the Officiating and penalties since the Jets game imo are alot more frequent, I mean they were handing Rams a number of first downs on PI that shouldnt even be a penalty. IDK officiating like this is why i cant stand watching football, really sucks out the joy.
No one talks about how important cashman is to our defense , he’s our mic and he puts everyone in the right position , these past 2 games you can see how lost we’ve been without him… once he returns should solve a few of are problems … but we defly need to be all in for a true interior d line player .. we desperately need some one who can collapse the Oline …
Truth: This team is not as good or as bad as we think. The hype/negative train gets us every year. If i believed ever news bit or this is our year id say... "Why did we draft AP, we need a qb and we have chester. Watch this be a bust" "Culpepper is the man, randy moss didn't make him" "Screw those draft picks, walker is the final piece." "2024 vikings defense is above 2017 defense" "Dobbs is special" "Ponder is the future" "Mark my words, troy w will tear this league wide open" "We are screwed without teddy" Same story different year
Good observations in the post. I have some additional underscoring and points. Sam is taking too long passing, that is a problem. The Vikings have problems run blocking, that’s why we pitch a lot. Last night, the D was on union break…or something…that or Rams O Line juiced up with a pre game super soldier serum. Rams pass blocking was outstanding. The face mask was indicative of the poor state of NFL officiating. I wasn’t surprised at all.
I feel like Hock coming back AND being down Darrisaw is going to open up more of our short passing game which is something I think we need more of. I’d rather pick up 4-5 yards on second down than take a sack or throw a 40yd incompletion.
So disappointed with Dallas Turner so far. I'm not calling him a bust, but man we are getting nothing from a guy we traded a lot for and was hyped to be the next big thing.
Andy, as usual, On the Money (OTM)! Rule #1 - Get to the QB Rule #1b - Protect your QB Rule 2 - Rinse and repeat This team is still a very good team with a ton of potential Butt, they’ve got to tighten up their “ish” and get back to kicking some A. LFG…Skol
I think other teams have watched film and figured us out. Our play calling is predictable, as is Flores defence. The fact that we continue to perform badly in the second half of games is confirmation of that. And I agree that Darnold is NOT the problem. Give Darnold the protection that Stafford had and he probably would have been perfect. As it was, I thought he played great, despite having no protection.
I dont think the defense is predictable, but I think its very easy to break. Analysts have talked about the key to breaking his defense is accepting quick short passes along with runs. Flores defense is great at stopping deeper to slower developing passes, but mature QBs that are able to accept quick hitters underneath have been hurting the D. I also think We are underestimating the impact of cashman not having the green dot
I honestly wanna know why we’re going soon as we get second half we get some kind of lead potentially. Let’s just run to clock out or be at the start of the third-quarter and it’s just run the clock out.
1st quarter is the teams best on offense, nothing after that for a offensive head coach. 0 sacks on Stafford sums up the defense, plus refs calling 5 penalties on 3rd down 2 ending up leading to 14 points. Why isn't KOC doing slant routes and short passes like these teams having success vs our defense? They are making Darnold hold the ball longer and when guys are covered hes left out to dry. The o line isn't bad but they can't hold up for big plays.
12 days ago I looked at the schedule and thought there was no game they couldn't win. 12 days later, same schedule, and I'm seeing a 10-7 team at the very best, and possibly worse. They're going to need at least two MAJOR trades (probably OL and DL) just to get back to level. Unfortunately, no trade's gonna fix the coaching errors and stupid penalties, so there's that. Interested to see what the next 10 days will hold. 😐🏈
They looked old and tired. The bye week is a momentum killer. There needs to be a strategic change in direction. We will have a couple draft picks again next year and there are quite a few players that are well past their "best if used by" dates.
I was born in 97 and have been a diehard fan for as long as I can remember. I will always love football but I don’t think I’m alone in saying that legal sports gambling has destroyed the sport. An unbelievable amount of awful, game dictating flags in the NFL all year long not even including the face mask. I have always had the Sunday ticket living in NY to watch the Vikings. This is by far the most flags I’ve seen thrown to negate 20+ yard plays in the league this year, I’m sure there’s a stat to prove it. That game was a fixed uphill battle and you cannot outplay such poor officiating. The was determined before kickoff with a clear and obvious effort to keep it that way. Argue with a wall. Rewatch the game and you’ll believe it even more so
2016 all over again. They never fail to disappoint the fans, they got their butts whipped on national tv, and they absolutely stink in EVERY phase of the game EXCEPT kicker.
1) That was one of the worst officiated NFL games I have watched in recent memory. They practically handed LA 14pts off of severely weak holding calls (no illegal contact calls on the other side fwiw....). 2) Our Defense seems to have been replaced by aliens, a la spaceJam, and no longer know how to stop the run, get a sack, create mad pressure. We either blitz and are wildly successful, or we give up a huge play, and there doesn't seem to be an in between for us. Our secondary has been very questionable. PENALTIES guys, ffs! 3) 5-2 is great, but you can see it on everyone's face when things don't go our way and then its like the whole team gets in their own heads and we fall apart. It's maddening. I hope we can get our act together and find a way to play through the 2nd half of the year bc we don't look like the team we were the first 4-5 games.
Puka comes back after 2 days on the 21 day window. Why can't we activate Hockenson? He would of been a difference maker last week and again last night. Risner needs to get in there too.
Team needs to tackle better... defense seemed a little old on the back end. Need to get a young corner. Darnold also made some critical mistakes shouldn't have rushed the 1st and goal after JJ catch and should've just tuck and run instead of hitting Nailerr on run.
I’m not having much hope in this team anymore this season even though there’s still more than half of the season left. First 5 games they really tried to win, now they are gonna start dwindling down and lose. That 7-10 prediction is looking pretty accurate now.
There are times we go all out blitz and QB's launch these moon balls that our defenders can locate. They started doing it last year, and are doing it again. We were flat yesterday, fatigued. We'll be fine
I'm a Michigan fan...but did you really just say you have the next Tom Brady waiting in the wings? You have the next best QB in history waiting in the wings with JJ?? I really like the kid but you might want to rethink that take at this point.
@@miamisasquatch I admire the hope. But you are talking to someone who watched all of his Michigan games. He has never ever been asked to digest a pro play book. Michigan plays mostly garbage teams, and he never had a signature QB game. Big plays, but we ran the ball 40 times a game. I want him to do well, but we were all a little shocked when you took him in the first round. We never knew what we really had with him. He definitely has up side though. Just saying you might want to see him take a snap before comparing him to the greatest ever. See you in week 18 in Detroit
@@randyhambright6547Hope is all we have here... If you take that away there's nothing left. He's the next Tom Brady until he's not. Just like the Vikings are lifting the Lobardi every season... until they are not. You get the point. 😁
@@r0bs1904 I was honestly nervous as a Lion's fan last week. I think you guys are damn good! The Ram's offense is an absolute bitch to deal with when Puca is healthy. The NFL comes down to who makes the biggest plays at the end of the game.. unfortunately you don't have a stone cold 4th quarter decision maker at QB.
IMO we need to trade Addison, I don’t love his body language and the way he carries himself, doesn’t seem like a great fit for our squad and the culture. Plus he’s got the trade value that we need to fortify other positions, like DT!
It's ok, koc needs to have simpler and quicker plays called, JJ needs 8/10 targets a game and TJ and Addison need 5 each . Hand Aaron jones the ball at least 15 times get him more involved in the pass game. Get cashman back and let Flores tweak the defense we'll be fine. It isn't fun to lose 2 in a row but 5-2 isn't the worst spot
I've said they haven't proved anything for the owners to extend them. Now, they all need to be fired. Put Jim Harbaugh on this team and instantly become Superbowl contender. With Jim, this team wouldn't be playing like backyard football. It's all about coaching. There are a lot of things that need to be fixed: offense and defense.
But it is Darnold, it’s not just these loses, he has been poor after the scripted plays in all the wins. Mullens knows the playbook and can gets Jets 150 yards per game and feed Addison.
Had a bad feeling about this game, but wow... They doubled down on that! That was beyond ugly, but maybe we can fix a bunch of stuff before 2025. I think it's time we see some Jeckyl/Hyde from KOC. Just feels like we don't want it as bad the last two games.
Maybe Andy will now realize how much Stafford is than Darnold..I think things with him were misconstrued due to all the injuries and bad oline. I hope Andy now sees who the better QB is and maybe we SHOULD trade for a legit superbowl winning QB vs the guy that's a really good backup..AT BEST!!!!!
The Vikings never recovered mentally from the Lions loss. Their football mentality on consistency stinks as their inability to execute a complete offensive game.
Are we watching Ed Donatell’s defense again? Felt like it the last 2 weeks.. we just let teams throw to their running backs for an easy 5-10 yard gain and the middle of the field is wide open
