At first I thought it was pierogi answering my post lol. But thank you for your concern. Now I get both Microsoft and my Amazon account scammers. The first time I received notification that a phone in the amount of $790 was charged to my Amazon, I called them. They said nothing about scammers but just to ignore the message. I hope Amazon is now teaching people about this situation. I will find out. Thank you again.

They told you to get gift cards to repay them? Does it sound like the person could be from India? Yes to all. Asked here if she was still on the phone with them, she pulled her phone out they were on the line.

I tried to help a lady at the Post office a few months ago. She didn't believe me. Or didn't want to. She lost 3k that day. This was a United Nations scam for "vacations" for the UN troops. Made me feel horrible.

I even looked it up as a scam on my phone in front of her.

Jeanne, you seem fairly knowledgeable about this, no one really is talking about it in the comments but how does this scam even work. I’m familiar with other ones but how do they even make $40k show up in the customers bank account, surely they can’t really be transferring that much - what’s stopping the customer from simply ending the call with a payout then. That’s what’s confusing me.

@@User-cb4jm Editor here! I'll clear this up a bit. So the scammers will say that you need to be refunded back your money for an arbitrary reason. After they have you connect to their computer with anydesk, teamviewer, or another connect client, and have you open your bank page to see if the money has been processed. It never does since there's no actual money. So then the scammers have you process the "refund" again via a form or "server" since the "usual method" isn't working. They add an extra zero and claim that you typed something in wrong and there's too much money being transferred. Then they go back to your bank page and black out the screen by either putting up an image that says "updating" or something of that sort, or by just blacking out entirely and saying there's a technical issue. They edit the html to change the text of your bank account to show the transfer, but there's no actual transfer being made, it's just text on your bank. (If you refresh the page it will go back to normal for that reason.) So when you go to refund the money that they "transferred" you're actually just withdrawing your own money and sending it to them.

@@cenapayback I work in banking industry in India...these scammers are rampant here in India too...but don't these banks send text alerts for each credit or debit....why people are so easily fooled? For here as banking industry is mostly run by government, many awareness programs are going on to alert people.

I have seen some white people in the US speak fluent Urdu with a Karachi accent. one Uber driver just learned the word "mujhe Urdu nahi ati" but his pronunciation was so good that if I didn't see his face, I would assume he is from Karachi. I had an easier time understanding his Hindi than I did when I first heard Kumail Nanjiani speak Urdu in Silicon Valley or the Urdu of the Punjabi guys at the Pakistan Consulate.

Oh I net you break it out whenever a scammer calls, my cell carrier (T-Mobile) will put "Scam Likely" on my phone when a scammer calls, and I smile because I am about to wreck someone's day, when I hear Indian accents, I use Pierogi's technique with them, I ask them if they got raided, or if they are working at home, then they ask me if I am Kitboga, idiots

watch the video where the scammer explains how the police catch them, take photos, pay a fine or more like a ransom, then release them to do it again.... Its a circle of life in a corrupt country.

Federal politicians are already getting paid too much money by major spyware companies (like Amazon, antivirus software, browsers, social media platforms and operating systems)..to fund anything like this. You can't prosecute hackers/scam artists in one sector, but call the same scam artistry "American greatness" in another. The moment our own government allowed tech companies to install hidden mics/cameras in our devices, and collect private/personal internet data on the American people, we lost any chance in hell we ever had of not being eaten alive by these parasites. And, every whistle-blower who tried to warn us of what was coming, we called a "traitor" and ignored them.

The governments are paying for the scams. Agwncy money funds the scammers. How many ways can i say it? You are being defrauded by the very government agencies who are responsible for protecting you from it.

Tip for you, some of those calls are not scams, but actual marketing cold calls. I use to work for several big medicare insurance companies, and that's how they do it. If they are legit, you can ask to be placed on the DNC (that prevents the legit companies from calling) and then the others. well. they are probably from a foreign country and just scamming.

I repeated back, "yes you are recording me" then I went into a tirade with colorful words to lose my number and never call this number again. It get's ugly, but I was fed up. It had been going on for MONTHS. Being nice to stop their calls never worked. They just passed my number to another person. Destroyed my serenity in my home. This has to stop by FCC. My own personal medicare agent can't legally to reach out to me for the next year plan. But these frickin can legally call me all hours of the day? For months ? I want these animals part of the do not call list or fined for each call to me.

I wish u guy think more about catching them instead of having fun....i had an anonymous number bothering me and my girl for like 3 months and it was really bad ..and even went to the police and even call fbi and what i found out is that theres no way to detect who it was...it was sucks! I knew who was for sure but couldnt accused noone with no prove..anonymous numbers or numbers create through some app are hard to find whos behind it
