Our version of Telstar, posted on 2 October 2022 to celebrate 60 years since it was No. 1 in the charts. The accompanying video is also celebrating 57 years since the first episode of Thunderbirds aired on 30 September 1965. Enjoy!
What a flash back ! I remember watching the Thunderbirds when I just a very young kid ! & I remember Telstar by The Tornados as well ! & yes I was very young , & it all seemed futuristic , & bright as a child the Mercury space program ,satellites , Jet travel , Turbo Charged automobiles , & a month later in Nov. We as nation went dark with the assassination John F. Kennedy ! & IMHO the future didn't seem so bright as I stood in line with my mother , & brothers & sisters to view his flag draped coffin at the capital rotunda in the early morning before daylight ! & it was literally a cold day in hell ! & as a 5 year old I remember this all to well ! We had lost our innocence as a nation . As I reflect on this instrumental it does stir allot of memories of my child hood growing up in America !
Iam the same age as you and a black male. Hurt cuts across the same way. I loved this song, I use to draw spaceships. I left Alabama and went to Oregon. Was in the Park Service. Hope you broke the cycle.
Great Version of the legendary music. I like espacially the little "Hank Marvin", leader of the Shadows, however this music was a hit from the Tornados.
Glad you enjoyed it! If you like Joe Meek, we have a free download of our interpretation of Joe Meek’s “I hear a new world” (called The Joe Meek Project) on our website www.iamseeingdots.co.uk/music we’ve added a few extra tunes in there including an original tune and some covers from other artists that we thought were in keeping with the music :)
Love this series. It's on at 6 a.m. Sunday in the Cincinnati area and it is so well done considering the mid-60's technology. The special effects are great.
I love this video. Great fuh king job. This is my favorite instrumental of the pre-NAM era with an apt video to set the space-race mood. Thunderbirds are GO! every Sundae at @ 6am EST on ME-TV
Being an instrumental, you have to wonder what the F-F-F-Thunderbirds are go, Cliff Richard is actually doing the whole time he's on stage. Flaying his arms about like a demented windmill, no less. 🤣
He had a lot of talent, incredibly sad ending. We can’t help but think what amazing music he could make in this day and age with the technology we have now
The leader of the group (the guy in the blue suit) is a dead ringer for the late American actor Glenn Corbett, who had replaced George Maharis on Route 66. I also like how the chauffeur looks like he’s asleep while on the job at the beginning of the video.
The sound of Telstar, The Tornado's from London in the sixties to a french composer who thought the sound was his all ties to a signal sputnik was transmitting and boom one landlady killed by shotgun in London rented premises by producer who first heard this sound, yeah this is the real wow signal.
@@johnwinston6873 There was a French Composer who filed a law suit on Joe Meek for copyright of the song Telstar, that Joe had produced Saying that it sounded like the piece the French composer had composed and it broke Joe and i think it bankrupted his production business at the time Telstar was produced there was a signal that sputnik was emitting that also sounded like Telstar. Hope this helps :)
