Miss Tope served in my secondary school and she was such a sweet soul, I remember having an issue then that made me cry so much, she called me to the staff room and asked if I was willing to share, and I said no and she didn't pressure me, she just comforted me. Thank you for being you❤

Soo relatable with Joan My dad was a living dead, he never contributed to anything. Apparently my mom dead and my siblings were taken away by my mom's siblings and finally my dad left me to myself, at 17. I'm 23 now left all by myself since 17. I'm healing because i had to convince myself that I'm an orphan and by the grace of God I'm doing soo well by myself It's not easy but then that's my reality 😢

I lost my dad when I was barely 6 months, my mum did the best in raising us all and others, thank God for church families and good friends who stood in as fathers to us. I wish my dad was here, some decision I made would have been better with his influence, I didn’t realize this until recently my husband said it after giving him some gists on what I did. After 15 years my mum remarried and gave us a father. My step dad is truly a father, you can hardly tell he is our step dad. He also has lost his wife. I thank God I get to experience the love of a father through him.

So many deadbeat dads can't imagine the hurt they cause the children left behind. Charles, I was in your position, I was raised by my mum, she singlehandedly raised myself and my siblings... He's late now. His absence hurt me so much, made me crave love so much from the opposite sex, I had to drop out of Uni because my mum went broke and my dad refused to pay, said I should move back with him. After years of abandoning us, I didn't want to, my siblings left eventually, I left last because things got really bad with my mum... My story is pretty long and sad, the absence of a father, even when he was with my mum, he was still absent, I had very few memories of him. Charles I hope you can come to forgive him for yourself, not for him, do it for you. I realized my father couldn't do better best he didn't know better, and had a draining childhood, so he had no love left to give, the Holy Spirit helped me understand this. So, it's possible your father didn't have a good example as a father too, truth is, if he knew better he'd do better. I hope you can eventually forgive him. It's my first time watching this show, I totally related with this, keep up the good work.

This got me seriously. It’s hard to talk about daddy issues in our African settings. Thank you for such great vulnerability. I am a victim of daddy issues….. but one thing that helped me deal with mine was inner healing….. it’s not over though… it’s a whole process but there is always some level of healing and wholeness you feel when you forgive and let God deal with the hurts…..

Oh God, I love Charles for letting himself feel and not trying to live up to society's standard of being a man and not cry or not be emotional. But hey Charles, you really need to forgive him, not even for him now but for you because you're hurting a lot and you do not deserve it because you've been hurt too much. You deserve to be free of any hate or anger or whatever you're feeling for him right now. Nobody is worth making you hurt yourself this much. I am here just if you ever wanna talk. Like TOPE said, don't focus on the past and please let others love you because you deserve a Good kind of love where you'd be loved with no holding back and I love you too 🧡

This tells you that when you think you’ve had it bad ,someone has had it worse. I love this Tope Lady!!! Daddy issues … I’m almost fifty, I had daddy issues and it made me form my defense mechanism. I blocked my father off mentally, I didn’t feel anything for him. I would do anything asked of me when he asks but that was it. When my father died I didn’t feel anything. I think I was more relieved for him that he would be better off dead than the being alive because he had suffered stroke and was already shadow of himself. I’m living my life and being intentional. I chose a good father for my children. My husband is a fantastic father.

From watching this video, i have learnt a lot, and i realised that i am not alone. Daddy issues come in different shapes and sizes from what i have heard today, but one thing i know for sure is that this "thing" makes us want to be better people and not repeat the mistakes of the humans who contributed to our existence. Also, i think everyone with daddy issues or some kind of trauma from growing up needs to speak to a therapist and unpack. We need it, and i believe in therapy.

From one healing person to another, I'd like you to know that God ALWAYS causes all things to work together for your good because he loves you. He didn't cause the situation. In fact, he's not pleased with it because it doesn't align with his design of what family should be. But he gave man the freewill to do what man wants within this domain and that's why man has chosen to consistently make stupid decisions including rejecting him and being selfish. That said, he's weaving the broken pieces of your life to make a full picture. He's a master repairer who's an expert at giving beauty for ashes. He'll make such a perfect repair of your life that there will be no visible scars. If you let him heal you, trust me, you'll not recognize the beauty he'll make out of your life. God loves you and you don't have to carry the baggage around for the rest of your life. He delights in your wholeness and freedom. Let him show you how much he loves you in Christ.

I wish you guys understood the greatness of this conversation. Just absolutely mind blowing. We are living in such different times but I respect how you three have the boldness to talk about it with such calmness, very mature, extremely bold and admitting that you all are still learning and growing. This will one day be remembered as an iconic conversation. The good lord will continue to guide all of you the way only he knows how to. Because these are 3 separate testimonies and common denominator is God. He alone knows the depth of your stories and he alone will write your history as it should be written. Mad respect to all three of you. Just incredible ❤

Thanks for this. For those people who do not exactly have daddy issues like this, but are married to someone who’s had daddy issues. You have to help your partner heal especially if there’s willingness to change coz most toxic marriages / people are a result of wounded people or partner who’s carried those baggage’s into marriage. Most times they are unaware of the effect of this trauma they’ve carried for years. I pray God heals us all

For some reason I have always dreaded watching this episode of Freaky Table “Tears and Truths about Daddy Issues”.. It just got me more right now into my shells the more 🥹😔😔 I have NEVER felt what it feels like to have a FATHER and hearing Joan’s experience I feel worst right now. 😭😭 So I promised myself to be a FATHER FIGURE to anyone, sister/brother or junior friend who looks up to me as a BIGIE. To my girlfriend, be her protector.. more of the father type. Sometimes my girlfriend don’t get why I get to over protective of her. It causes us problems sometimes. I pray she gets to understand me better 😔 And to a child, who looks up to me as a dad, I love them without boundaries. Especially my sister, brother, my cousins’ kids and my girlfriend’s daughter 🥰🥰❤️❤️ The kinda love I expected to receive from him that I still haven’t received is what I try to give back. The ONLY time I give what I don’t have.. That’s how I battle that hate and rage in me for this man who has NEVER shown up in my life 😔😢 This episode is has made me realized we all are just going through a lot personally and we just try to act OK.. This episode was intense... The profound impact of parental pain and childhood trauma can be staggering. Some people may not even realize they have unresolved issues with their father or mother, but it can still affect how they react to certain situations and interact with others. It's a testament to the lasting effects of trauma and the importance of confronting and healing from it." Childhood trauma can have a lasting impact, shaping our relationships and reactions in ways we may not even realize. It's essential to acknowledge and heal from this pain to move forward

Joan’s story resonates with mine, Mr Felix( like I call him) was living with us and fending off my mum. He was a total douche bag. Although he didn’t touch me inappropriately because I wasn’t always home,( faraway from home schooling) which was God’s doing!! He made me hate pictures cos he told me I didn’t look good on my 10th birthday celebration!! I forgive him because I needed to heal!!

It is today I got t o know this thing I have struggled with and still struggling with for years is called Daddy issues . The fact that had a present father even made it worse . there were day i wished this man could just disappear and never come back because the emotional pain and torture was to much. A man that would talk down on us in front of people especially his family members. As a result we lost our respect in the hands of is family too. . there are day I would just cry for no reason. I cry for my school fees to be paid and school things, are paid for, while tis man is out there spending money on women and other ridiculous things. while this same this man would reign insult on my mother and on us. My father will always make these statement " He would see what we would become in live" " My siblings are enough for me as children" those words so many more pierced my heart. I lost my self esteem , i was always angry and never happy. By next year i will be 40 and it been difficult getting into a relation because of this baggage. I have this huge wall around as a form of defence mechanisms when I hear the the word I love you from any man , I intentionally mess thing up . 😭 Its so hard moving on

One perspective I believe will help the healing process is to see it from the point that the daddy also has his own unresolved daddy issues. Some daddy issues have been handed from generation to generation such that every perpetrator is also a victim. We must continue to raise awareness. Until more people become aware of of what they are dealing with, the cycle continues. More than just healing, we want to make sure it ends with our generation. Ultimately, parents pass on what they don’t heal from. Selah!
