As a man who thought he'd sound more attractive to the ladies if he had a higher-pitched voice, I understand Temma about wanting a feminine voice like Rio's. But now here's me feeling more confidence in my own voice, especially after I found folks telling me that I gave them pleasant surprises when I used my masculine voice on songs originally sung by women. 😎 "Isn't meaningless banter between dudes the strong point of HOLOSTARS?" Thank you very much for that reassurance, Temma, though I'd sooner have us roasted if we'd like to think that we're in a HanaKimi plot or something. 🤣
@Kinda_SUS I had no idea that our favourite Kishi was this unhinged. Since I'm not able to catch his streams as he and the rest of Holo usually stream at 5am mst in Canadian timezones.😂
@@Unaliq omg I feel you. I'm from Argentina so I have like a 13 hour difference with Japan. The amount of content I miss because of that (and my less-than-baby Japanese level) is insane
Meika tends to call his old, female self his "producer" or "dark past." He is a part of the very early wave of vtubers, starting vtubing around half a year after Kizuna Ai. Back then, male vtubers were pretty much nonexistent, and he probably thought he'd have to use a female avatar to be popular at all. I remember subscribing to his channel back then just from how his model looked, then found out he was a guy, but since I found his video pretty funny, I stayed subscribed. Some years later, I hadn't watched him at all and was surprised to find he now used a male avatar and decided to watch something from him, laughed a lot and became his actual fan at that point. He is still one of my favourite vtubers to this day - as one of the "gera" vtubers (the type with a loud, explosive laughter), he never fails to make me laugh too. He has a natural-born comedic talent, which is especially apparent in his collab streams.
Thx for your clippings. But this translation is a little wrong. He did not say "grab". 😕Probably he want to say “check” .or…"comfilm" I'm sorry to say this but I don't want him to be misunderstood.
Thanks for the comment! He actually didn't say any verb since he got interrupted before ending the phrase, but unlike Japanese, in English you can't omit the verb, so I feel like there isn't really a way to properly translate it :/ I think the nuance is fairly similar, but yeah maybe "check" could have been a better way to word it
I love Ten-chan but this kinda opened old wounds and made me just a tiny bit disappointed in him. I'm a girl who was always just more comfortable with boys and told earlier in life "You can't play with us cuz you're a girl." Why can't a girl be a bro too? Why should it be a problem even if one of them was a girl? Why should that prevent stupid banter between homies? ... Sorry, I don't mean to bring the mood down on a light hearted video, but the whole gender separation always rubbed me the wrong way.
I get where you're coming from, but to be fair that was what Temma thought to himself the first day of the debut, without knowing the new talents at all and after being in a boys-only group for years. Even if a girl did join the group, after being together for 1year and half now, I'm sure the members would have still completely warmed up to them already
Temma did make me feel like the rotten Charlotte Dunois fanboy that I am here, yeah. But if it's any consolation to you, and while I don't remember Temma having hung out with at least one of those girls before, the Stars and their dude friends especially helped introduce me to VSpo, which surprised me not only with how they're an all-girl competitive gamer VTuber group that also releases things like race queen merch but also with how they hang out with the boys like it's as normal as hanging out with the girls. I think I still need a lot more humbling into appreciating the value of being a boy who's friends with girls, so things like that mean a lot to me, and I hope it does to you too.
I think he meant it in more of a (hyperbolic) anxious way than a mean way. Lots of people just struggle to let loose and be 100% themselves around the opposite gender, and it's not always out of malice. It's a pretty common anxiety.
Because the Holostars are for male talents. There's nothing wrong with him saying that, especially since having a guy in Hololive would never fly. And this may disappoint you, but guys will never have that same level of banter if theres a girl in the group. Thats just not how it works.
@@multi3667 Yes, I understand. At least, I think do. My response was a gut one, but I do hope the boys I've been fondly following, and became a source of comfort and inspiration for me, aren't completely closed-minded. It's also the culture making it so, and unless you're exposed to something wholly different you don't stop to question things. I just wanted to share my thoughts because maybe it can mean something to someone.
