It's amazing how people can get off-topic so zealously about not eating meat. This interview was about her autism and the insights she provides about dealing with it. She is probably the most humane person you will ever hear about. Her understanding of animals, especially livestock, has improved their lives substantially and enabled them to be calm in various stressful situations, not just at a slaughterhouse. She knows about stress herself in ways you critics cannot imagine. Now go back and watch the video again, keeping focused so that you might learn something from this remarkable woman.

This woman fascinates me and I could hardly stop watching. She's brilliant and very compassionate towards animals. I also thought of the people who bullied her and what the think of what she's done with her life AND what they've done with theirs. I saw the movie some time ago and it was very moving. I have a deep respect for Ms. Grandin. Brava to you ma'am. She saw animals brutilized in the slaughter houses and sought a better way for them. The beef, pork and poultry businesses are going to go on. She developed ways of keeping the animals calm, and unafraid. Much more than many others had done and has developed ways to counter that cruelty. Yes, the business will go on, but let's give these animals the respect that they deserve when going to the end of their lives.

Among her many intellectual gifts is the ability to see the capabilities of the minds of animals. As humans, we tend to take for granted that we are always the "smartest" beings on Earth. Temple helps people understand that animals' minds are capable of thinking and feeling far more deeply than we give them credit for.

I really love how proud Temple Grandin is of her Movie. She references it quite a lot during interviews, it really has done her justice, an the fact that she approves of it (and films based on people rarely get a full blessing) show's me that it is a film you can watch and know your watching accurate history.
@buuzzsawtouchedme194
@buuzzsawtouchedme194 7 лет назад
I worship the film as I myself have Asperger's, and it really helps, she must have felt so alone and shitty as a kid, but it's people like Temple that make me feel a part of this world, and hopefully one day I'll put my mark on the world too.
@buuzzsawtouchedme194

+David Sage, well there are a lot of horrid people out there, I hate to also sound like your Dad, but he's right, just ignore them. Half the people who insult you will never admit to being wrong anyway, so you really are just wasting your time.
@buuzzsawtouchedme194
@buuzzsawtouchedme194 7 лет назад
+David Sage, Well that's called pride, and pride can be a good thing, or it can really mess with you. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride, as that's the only way to be a success.

+David Sage, I used to bully my sister when I was a kid (forgive me, I was a kid), an when she got a bit older (like High School) I found it hard to bully her, as she would avoid me. So realistically, if you wanna win, ignore them and walk away.

Beyond the fact that I absolutely adore Temple Grandin, and feel she is an intensely important human being, this also makes me feel better as a parent. What she talked about diet, exercise, education, and THEN a reserved amount of medication if needed after all other resources have been exhausted…that is EXACTLY the route I went with my son for his ADHD. She is 100% bang on about everything she talks about. What an amazing human being. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Dr Temple Grandin for educating and empowering families how to navigate the autism spectrum. I agree having responsiblities when your young is key because it prepares young adults for growing up as they are aging. I absolutely agree the young must be stretched to learn. board games are way to get them to think, get the young kids away from the texting and kids interested in nature, science, art, sports, history, writting get young adults motivated and inspired. Dr Temple has written a book called "the Autistic Brain" If you ever get bullied and cry that is ok, its better than throwing a temper tantrum. Dr Temple Grandin is a brilliant and inspiring individual.

I love my autism but there's one thing I hate, one moment people think we're geniuses then the next we're a bunch of retards, we're neither and not two people on the spectrum are the same. We need awareness, understanding and acceptance. Sadly, we live in such an imperfect world. I wish to work as an actress, dancer, gymnast, author and an advocate for autism. (sorry for bad spelling or mistakes I wrote this after waking up)

"Autistic brain" is very very variable! Aw almost like the neurotypical brain is. Being on the spectrum is a normal part of biodiversity. It isn't a mental deficit. It's a different type of brain and it can be accompanied by deficits or genius traits as much as a neurotypical brain can. Except you are more likely to be a genius in anything that requires logical thinking with this different brain than with a neurotypical one. Edit: The most damage and problems people on the spectrum have is done to them by their shrinks and their parents who just want a normal kid and bully this perfectly normal but very different kid into mimicking neurotypicals. This makes the kid depressed and anxious,..., and then all the drugs that are given to their developing brains...
